    Re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread

I grilled some thick cut sirloin yesterday for lunch, man was that tasty. I need to really learn how to do ribs. Nothing like fall off the bone ribs with a good BBQ sauce.

Speaking of sauce anyone want to share a good home made BBQ sauce recipe?

Holic: That chicken looks delicious! I season my grilling steaks the same way, salt pepper and melted butter brushed on. Let's you really taste the meat.

All of it looks delicious. Wish I had those skills on the grill. Hell, even a grill to begin with. Lol

Note to self: Don't come into this thread at 9 am when my lunch break is still two and a half hours away.

have to ask the same question??? I look in the flyers every Wednesday just to see any meat specials. I have bbq'ed three briskits this summer and about 5 slabsof ribs. My neighbors just went fishing and gave me some catfish and snapper to do up on the pit. First time with fish on the pit

I need one of those grilling metal baskets.

On the cedar planks, do you do anything special to keep the fish from sticking?

Is the wood supposed to burn? Or are you supposed to have lower heat? Not really familiar with cooking on that (I have a gas grill), but interested.

Lol! Go easy on me man.

There were choices to be made when we bought our home. It was either a media room or a patio. We went with the former. Hopefully, we can get one built here in the next couple of years, contingent on our debt reduction plans.

I got an older home man. bult 1990. Luckily, my neighbor can do concrete mixing and laying like nothing. He built me a small 3x7 area. Just enough for my 2 pits.

No deck or anything? Damn. I'd be grilling in the drive-way.

I got a quote on concrete just the other day. I could do a 16' x 16' slab with 4'x2' footers for $500. I know this because I'm looking to build a shed by next year.

This weekend for our tailgate, we're going all out

4 pork butts (14 hours at least)
                              5 racks of smoked ribs
2 bowls of smoked macaroni and cheese (cheddar and pepper jack)
And we're throwing wings on the smoker for a good 15-30 minutes then finishing them on the grill.

We're going to be serving the pork with an option of buns around lunch, but since those are coming off around 10-ish we're going to be serving them with biscuits and of course, homemade Carolina Sauce.

So that comes around the area of ~55 pounds of pork alone. This weekend will be less about drunkenness and more about gluttony.

Spicy vinegar based eastern NC sauce or tomato based western NC sauce?

                                This matters.
