Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
Watch out buying patch cards on ebay. There are a lot of counterfeit ones.
Great pickups though, but like you said it isn't like opening packs. Did you get your box from DaCardworld btw? I don't think I saw you post anything about it on here.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
I got only a few (I think like 3) good/decent grabs, but by far the best one I got was a Silver edition embossed refractor of Mariano Rivera. So that was like 3 inserts in one card. I am really thinking about sending it off to get graded.I post the frog

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
So I don't have any cool cards to post this time...
My tax return came back and I got a lot more than I expected (still not a lot, sadly. Hooray unemployment!)
I'm thinking of picking up a case of the nicer cards, but I'm torn on what to get. I've narrowed it down to National Treasures, Triple Threads, Topps Museum or Bowman Platinum. All have their postives and negatives. I wish I had the disposable income to buy them all... This could be a long internal debate.badComment

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
It's personal preference really, but I prefer Topps. It's the big brand and the cards are clean and simple.Last edited by PhilliesFan13; 04-12-2013, 10:39 AM.Comment

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
If you stick with the big 3 (Baseball, Football, Basketball) there are a lot of good brands for almost any income. I think Hockey is also pretty highly produced and available too, but I have never collected it.
Try and find hobby packs and boxes if you can though. Retail isn't the worst thing in the world, but the odds of getting something good normally increase with a hobby purchase and the pulls are usually higher end than what you could get with a retail purchase.I post the frog

What sport(s) are you looking at collecting?

For baseball I'd recommend Bowman or Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
Do the quality cards in these expensive packs/boxes hold their value well?
Just wondering...with all the inserts, jerseys, autographs, etc I had no idea on a value for anything.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
Like Mo said, just go to a card shop or buy the packs/boxes online via ebay or Dave and Adams Card World.
What Beckett says they are worth and what I see them selling for on eBay are two different things.
Sure the new cards with Trout/Harper auto's and such will get you a pretty penny, but they will probably have to be numbered low and hold some real value if you want more than a $100 for them.
It's a real crapshoot as far as value goes, but I believe someday they will pick up and at least earn you what you have in them or a lot more depending on the purchase.
Of course if you pull like a 1 of 1 Ted Williams jersey/bat card or something of the sort you are probably going to do okay.I post the frog

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
I would tend to say no. They almost always go down in value after release. When it first comes out everyone wants them and the prices are higher, but two years down the road some of those cards can be had for next to nothing. Obviously the exception would be star players and super prospects.Fan of....
