On the Antonio Brown one, is it a sticker he signs that gets put on a card, or do they actually sign the card?

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
I've had the absolute worst luck possible with Topps Chrome this year.
I have bought one blaster box, 3 hanger boxes, and a 3 pack from Target and out off all those cards I didn't get one single insert card. Literally all base cards. Every freakin one. Seems like that would be almost impossible to pull off.Comment

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
I have a few Saints cards from about 10 years ago that are signed. These aren't inserts or anything like that. Its just a base card that was signed at a game. Do these have any value? I looked online to see how these work but no dice.Because I live in van down by the river...Comment

If say one of them was a superstar player or hall of famer you could possibly get it authenticated and it might have some value. But odds are they don't hold any value.Comment

Who are they? And to be honest they probably don't have any value. They aren't official autos so there is no proof they are real.

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
Do you plan on buying any cards in the near future? Unfortunately my Walmart is scaling back on their sports cards and getting more gaming cards.
I also have a shop in town that I can get hobby boxes and sometimes just packs from, but she is expensive.Comment

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
That said, it's to be expected: in the 40s, 50s and some of the 60s card collecting was a kid's hobby; so 75% of the cards were either ruined or lost (hence their value). From, say, 1975 and onward, every Joe in the world collected cards, and kept them in good condition, so that straight up changes everything.
For myself, I only collect cards that have a significant impact on myself, personally; I'm 100% nostalgia-driven. If you're in this for the money you're already a lost cause; there's just way too many collectors and way too many cards.
One of my top "wants" for instance is a 1990 Pro Set Andre Ware - a card that means a lot to me, not to "the hobby" as a whole.Comment

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
Damn, that might be a tough card to find.
And yeah, you definitely can't be in it for the money. You will go broke fast.
Only way to get rich off cards nowadays is to be a successful online breaker. ie Jaspys Hobby Land.
I buy hobby boxes when I can, and hope for a good hit. But I mostly buy packs or blaster boxes from Walmart just for fun. I know the odds of getting anything good are rare. I posted some of my hits in this thread if you go back some pages. Recently got a Barry Sanders 60th anniversary relic card out of a rack pack of Topps 15 from walmart. Its numbered to 25. Probably my best retail pull.Comment

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
PV,
I've seen that card (Ware w/snipe) for as little as $1.50 on Ebay. I'll nab it no problem; the issue is that it's only "worth" about a quarter lol.
Meanwhile, I have a couple of 1992 Topps Stadium Club boxes that I'm dying to get rid of. Can we "shop" like that on here or am I out of line?Comment
