Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread

Well, even without the logos, I still like some of Panini's baseball products. Especially Select. I just love the look and feel of the cards. I can't really justify spending hundreds for a box of Chrome or Dynasty or even Triple Threads. As much as I would love to, that's just too much money that I could use for other things we need. So that's why I kinda go cheap with sports cards hobby wise.

I did end up ordering a hobby box of Topps Series 2 to chase the J-Rod SP. Got it for $80. I figure there is enough in there to justify that price. The J-Rod sells for around $400, plus you got some case hits to chase, and surprisingly, Topps sometimes throws in some sick hits into hobby.

The main thing is, I usually only buy retail. Just because of hobby prices. So I figured it would be fun to open something with 4 hits with the potential of some case hits. Like I said, I did see multiple Wander redemptions pulled out these Select boxes. And I know their value is less than Topps on almost all cards, but I honestly got it more for fun than as any type of investment.

I think I'll sleep on it and decide tomorrow.

This might be the biggest cards I've ever seen pulled. This is from Hitman Rips. He's pretty cool. Never broke with him, but seems like a legit guy.

I don't know the value of this card, but it's the literally the only white sparkle Prizm auto of Mac Jones. 1/1. Hitman estimated maybe 100K or more. The black pandora Mac non-auto 1/1 sold for around there I think. And that was pulled at a hobby shop in the town in which I used to live.

Sorry, I can't get it to not be sideways, and it won't work unless it's an attachment.

He said today he is going to the national and will get it graded on the spot from PSA. Then it's up for sale. I'd sell now too. That's life changing money right now, as opposed to the more likely scenario of it being worth a fraction of what it's worth now in a year.

I think it has 10 potential. Centering looks pretty good and he said the surface and corners are perfect.

Yep he basically hit the lottery. That's just an unreal pull.

Picked this up today. Big Yankees fan obviously. But if he passes Ruth and Maris. Look out. Also my first Kaboom card.

Person didn't pay for the blue Jays in a break, so I did.

                Happy about that.

I love these cards so much. I don't have any, but would love to pull one. Football ones are great too.

And, damn, I bet that guy wishes he paid for the Blue Jays. Wow

Would love to be able to find anything in retail (Target, Walmart, etc.) here in the Boston area but can’t get my hands on anything.

Do they have Barnes and Noble up there? Believe it or not. That was my Ace in the hole during the pandemic.

What are you looking for? My Walmart in town, and the Target about 30 min away has been stocked with baseball for months. You can catch some football there sometimes. I was in Walmart a couple weeks ago, and they had a ton of Prizm football.

And if anyone is curious, I sold that box of Select baseball for $135.

I collect mostly basketball and football but thinking about trying my hand at baseball.

Cool, I'm 95% baseball. I used to do football before the big boom. But baseball has remained the most affordable and easiest to come by option. Especially over the last 6-8 months.

If you wanna do baseball, I would start with some retail Topps Series 1 and 2. 2 is more readily available now. Which is good anyway because of the rookie short prints and lower print run in general. Easier to find numbered cards, relics, and autos. I would recommend hanger boxes if you can find them. If not, blasters are ok, but don't have autos except on the helmet manufactured relics, which are super rare.

Although, if you have money to burn then I'd pick up some hobby boxes. Series 2 Jumbo boxes have been really good.

Just got my series 2 hobby box delivered today. $80. Not sure if you have a local card shop or not. I do, but the owner mostly just gets in Pokemon and Magic stuff now, so I ordered it off eBay. If you can find a box for around $80, that's a pretty good deal.

If you can. I'd advise everyone to invest in Aaron Judge. His **** has tripled in about a month. If not more.

If he breaks the Yankees home run record. His stock is gonna hit astronomical heights. Bowman chrome refractor rcs psa 10s are already reaching 600$ Topps not far behind. Most cards that have a auto on it will probably be in the 1k range if he gets there.
