For whatever reason people have started to sleep on Tatis. Maybe they look at his WAR and see it's only a 6.5, but he's also only had just over 1,000AB and already has 81 home runs.
I cashed in some on Tatis before he blew up. But yea his value is still relatively low compared to other stars. I've see Bobby Witt's go higher then some of his cards.

I don't know if it's investors worried about his injury history. Which I'm assuming is what it is.

Yeah, Bobby Whitt cards are going nuts right now. I think he's gonna be good. He's a 65 right now on the 20/80 scale. All five tools at 60. I don't think he's gonna hit for power though. Might be a 30/30 guy though.

And yeah, I think with Tatis it's partly the injury thing. But I'm not concerned about it right now since you can get a possible huge payoff on relatively cheap cards right now. You won't lose a ton, and stand to gain big.

I just bought a PSA 10 Update rookie debut of him for $45.

I told my buddy to buy a Burrow on Saturday night because I had a feeling the Bengals would win and his cards would skyrocket. Well he didn't listen. He ended up buying a Panini Playbook RC /10 for $400 after the game. Same card was $200 Saturday. And it's not even that good of a card. Playbook is low end.

His Rated Rookies, and Prizm rookies are out of control. You might as well forget about those being auto'd because those are going for thousands now.

He buys cards as investments and couldn't care less about collecting. Which is fine I guess. But he never listens to me, and always overpays for cards. I've only been collecting baseball and football for 10 years, but hey, what do I know.

Yep I've been buying in bulk before he beat KC. That orange disco prizm I bought for about 800. Last one sold for 12 I believe. If Burrow wins a SB oh boy.

Josh Allen cards went nuts after his god mode performance with Mahomes.

I just wish I had some Brady. His **** is bonkers right now.

My son and I love to rip! We tend to buy cards and then tuck them away. It is fun to rediscover gems later after a player had made it.

Quick story, last January we were going through some old cards we ripped from 2018. In the middle of the bunch was a pink Rated Rookie Josh Allen. For the grins and giggles I put it up for auction and it ended up selling for $255. Crazy and left me feeling dirty...kinda, I took the money and bought more cards, LoL .

Why would you feel dirty? Nothing wrong with pulling a big one and selling it.

If I pull a big card and I'm not emotionally attached to it, I will definitely consider selling it as long as it doesn't project to have huge future value.

Gotta fund the next card purchase somehow.

I've had a box of Prizm quick pitch baseball sitting here for a month, but I keep putting off opening it because that's my last box/pack I have and then I will just want more. lol

Dirty as feeling like I was flipping, when actually it was what you just described.

I have been collecting since 1974, a couple years back I completed my '74 Topps baseball set. What was cool was that about 70% of that collection was pulled from packs when I was 6 years old. This set is nowhere near mint, but full of great memories.

I am a collector and have a pure view of this hobby. I would never want to consider myself or have others view me as in it for the money. God only knows how much good money I've thrown at pieces of cardboard.

I'm curious what your buy low candidates might be. I've hit on a few. But I've been stocking up on Darius Garland and Ja in the NBA. Thinking Witt Volpe and Tatis in MLB. Burrow Herbert and Allen in the NFL.

Now some of those guys aren't exactly buy low. But you can still technically buy low with Burrow. Because if he wins a super bowl. It's gonna be bananas and Jamarr Chase for that matter.

I'm going with you on Tatis once he has a full healthy season. He's gonna have a monster year. He could absolutely hit 300 or around there and launch 50 bombs steal 40 bags. Send his **** through the roof. He and Soto are the obvious next superstars in that league. With Acuna in the fold as well.

4 or 5 days ago you could get Burrow rc autos raw for under a G. Now they are going for a G plus raw. Crazy. Wouldn't surprise me if he wins the SB if raw rc autos hit 2k plus. Won't even have to be the high quality ones either like prizm contenders NT etc.. Those will do even more.

I'd buy Burrow right now. Even if they lose, his hype will be over the moon at the start of next season. Allen as well. He's gonna be one of the best in the NFL.

I really like Garland as well. Big upside, not a lot of risk.

As far as baseball, the younger the better. I know his stuff is kinda high right now, but Juan Soto might be one of the best bets for a potential HOF career. He's 23, will be for the whole season. This will be his 5th season and he has 98 HR, a 7 WAR, which is almost MVP level. Barring injury, I'd say he has a great chance at the HOF. Same goes with Acuna and Tatis. Those are the current buy low sell high for me as current MLB players.

As for prospects to invest in, I say Whitt is number one. He's only 21. Will be in the big leagues this year.

Julio Rodriguez from the Mariners organization. He's 21 as well and projects huge numbers. He should be in the majors at some point this year as well.

I also like Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson, and CJ Abrams.

I wouldn't go too deep in the prospect well right now. Hype can be a bad thing. You should be able to buy relatively low on those guys. But the truth is, most highly touted prospects don't ever do anything special. Also pay close attention to age. The younger a kid gets to the big leagues, the better HOF chance he has.

EDIT: Not sure how I forgot about Wander Franco. I'd try to find some of his stuff for as cheap as possible. His true rookie will be in Topps Series 1 this year which comes out the 16th. I would stock pile them and get some graded.

Back in 2020, the few shots I got at opening Panini Prizms, the Joe Burrow card was elusive, never pulled one. I did nab a couple of nice Herberts and Tuas, but never a Burrow.

After he went down with the knee injury people were dumping his cards for whatever they could get but I never got around to buying one, dang it!
