Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread

So I was randomly scrolling few Facebook just now and I saw this article about Gretzky. And saw the picture in the article, and I was thinking to myself, that looks the Gretzky card that my Dad has. So I just ran downstairs and saw it is a Topps card instead of that O-Pee-Wee chew card and is in worse condition, has a slight rip of some of the blue paper missing. Is this something I should talk to my dad about getting graded?

Here's a pic of the card:

If its the original then yes absolutely. We could be talking at least hundreds of dollars.

Yea I'm thinking it is. Because he was born in the early 60's and has other cards that are from around that time period. And I was looking on eBay after I posted that and depending on the grade it could be more than $500. So I kinda answered my own question.

So I bought two blaster boxes of Bowman 16 tonight and pulled these two gems.

The auto is out of /99 and the other is a 1/1 printing plate. I'm gonna get the auto graded. Some non graded are going for over $100 or more on eBay.

So I have an Andre Caldwell jersey card that I got in a random pack of cards. How much do these usually go for?

What card series? Probably about $5 to be honest. Jersey cards aren't really worth much anymore unless its from a high end set, a great player, low numbered and some sort a swatch or mix of colors.

Anyone get any Topps baseball packs today? Thinking about picking some up and doing with my 4 year-old son this weekend.

Was hoping my walmart got them in today but no luck. They usually stock cards on Fridays so I'll probably pick some up then.

I almost bought a hobby box at my local card shop today but she has jacked the prices up so high on her cards its become ridiculous. She wanted $85 for a regular hobby box and $150 for a jumbo box and I can get those for $60 and around $110 to $120 on eBay.

I like to support her, but I can't pay those prices. Especially when you can get them so much cheaper. I could see paying $10 or even $15 more to support the shop. But not $25 or $40 more.

$150 for a jumbo box? Wow!

Is hobby box the best value? Amazon has them for like $65 I think.

Jumbo for sure. Pretty much guaranteed to get the full set in a jumbo box.

I'd definitely go jumbo hobby. You get 1 auto and 2 relics guaranteed. Regular hobby is one auto OR relic.

Yeah, its insane. I know she has to make money, but I guarantee her cost is under retail. And the crazy thing is she's got boxes from 3-4 years ago from all different products just sitting in cases there because they are so overpriced no one buys them.

Plus, I suspect that she pack searches her own products before selling individual packs. And that's not just a theory. I pretty much know she does. And that's pretty sad.

Does Target usually get the jumbo boxes? I'm going to try and grab one this weekend.

They do not. Those are only sold at hobby stores mostly. Target will have hangers and blaster boxes and regular packs.
