Those cards and that story is amazing. I'm glad you ended up with the card. And I totally get the sentimental thing.

Right now I am starting a PC of Andres Gimenez. Decided on getting his whole rainbow of his Optic rated prospect autos. Got four of 10 so far. About to buy the one /10 here in a few days hopefully it's still on eBay though.

Thanks man. It's funny how so many of us can remember where we were and how we felt when pulling or acquiring certain cards like that, like the feeling never fades. That's special.

Good luck with the rainbow though, I think that's an awesome collection to pursue. Always wondered if getting the 2 and 3 might be the hardest to get haha. I imagine getting the 1 on a modern card isn't too tough, but pulling a 2, 3, maybe even 4 can be a battle. Definitely post the set once you complete it though.

Yes, I know, I too love animals and will never forgive or forget, but... I still love the player Mike Vick. I remember the first time I ever watched him play at Virginia Tech. It was a Saturday afternoon and I was bowling with my brother, my soon to be girlfriend, and her best friend. It seemed like every time I looked up at a TV there was this guy doing things I've never seen before, and I forget which game it was, but I was in awe. When Madden 04 dropped 3 years later and he became the modern Bo Jackson I still was in awe, even when he made fools of the Vikings to win the game. I also played QB at the time and fancied myself a better runner than passer, except I didn't have a .50 cal for an arm and despite my plethora of white boy moves and speed, I still couldn't truly emulate him on the field lol.

Anyway, I started collecting some Vick cards a while ago, mostly game used V-Tech jerseys, although it expanded some. I have one more Vick card I'd like to get yet, will post it if I win it.

The cards are all serial numbered to 25 except the bottom right SP Rookie (not numbered, but very rare two-color) and the 2001 EX Rookie, which is /1000. The only card that is not game worn material is the first, the National Treasures, but I paid such a fair price for it I grabbed it anyway.

The 2004 Feature Film one is also super cool, even though it's hard to see in the pic, it includes actual game film from a December game and is transparent when you hold it to the light. Bottom left is also a laundry tag if you're into those. But yeah, here's the Vick collection so far.

yeah I love animals too and afaic Vick has paid his debt to society so I moved on. I don't get into football cards like I do baseball cards, but Madden 2004 will always hold a special place in my collection mostly because of Vick. so many wonderful memories of stomping my brother whenever I had the Falcons. good times

True, good point. I have heard him say he regrets what he did, but deep down I've always wondered if he truly does, or if he only does because he got in trouble. Obviously I don't dislike the man, but I just struggle to understand people who would hurt an animal. Ultimately I accept his take on the situation though and don't let it change my view of him as an athlete, especially considering all of the nostalgia I have with him. The whole thing was so incredibly unfortunate on so many different levels, but it is what it is. I hope he has found peace and forgiveness, as like you said, he has paid his debt. I'll still call myself a fan in public, I don't care.

But yeah man, I can't believe your brother let you be the Falcons lol. I mean, fights were started over people picking them because of Vick haha. Those really were the days. I always find myself to this day still creating Vick as soon as a I get a new football game, just to relive the magic and highlights of what that man could do on a field. There will always be only one Michael Vick.

PS - I'm going to play some Rocket League with the bros, but I'll throw up some of the baseball collection after. Baseball has always been my card passion, but I do like football a lot too. Throw some of yours up btw, I know you got some goods!

Alright Caulfield, I know you're just as much of a baseball fanatic as I am, and I also am willing to bet you enjoy vintage baseball as much, if not more, than I do. So here's the better part of my vintage vintage collection, the 54 Mantle being the centerpiece for as he's my favorite along with the likes of Maris, Kirby, Griffey, Bonds, Piazza, Cal, Sandberg, Harmon Killer, and many, many others of course. The two on the bottom left are Phil Rizzuto and Ralph Kiner, 1950 print.

I ran out of room long ago, I had to stop collecting, or I would keep adding. I have about 95% of cards from major releases 1976 to 1993. if I had room & the money I'd definitely add on those wonderful Topps from the '60s & '70s

as for the way my brother used to play Madden, we had to rotate completely through all 32 teams before we could repeat a given team. so I took my share of Vick losses as well.

Very cool, I can see why space would be a factor if you have that many full to near full sets lol. They add up fast don't they? I'm winding down (for now) myself, not because of space so much but because of money. I need to add more to my savings, but I never feel bad about spending it on cards because then I always have something of value to sell if I ever need to.

That's a good idea on the team switching though, keeps the game fresh and different each time. Remember when football games had classic teams and even some classic stadiums? Man, those really were the days.

I respect you guys for knowing when to slow down/stop. Be it room or financial reasons, this hobby can be expensive and eat up space, time, and money. Plus it's easy to get hooked on, always needing "just one more card" to lust after.

On the flip side, if you ever do get back in the game, you'll never own a card as cool as my 85 Fleer Wendy Torrance.

Just snagged a PSA 10 Gleyber Torres Topps true rookie for $16 of eBay.

While he's been mostly disappointing, he is quietly having a good year, and if he has a big playoff series this card could go way up. I think it's a very low risk, with high reward potential so I couldn't pass it up.

Guy had it for $24obo and took the $16. One right before I bought it sold at auction for $25.

All I know is that when you can snag a multiple time All Star Yankees player under the age of 26's PSA 10 RC for under $20 you are doing something right. Whew.

Pretty good snag. Torres had a god awful August. But he has rediscovered something in September and has been red hot since. Wouldn't surprise me if he breaks out next year. Plus you can't go wrong with a guy on the Yankees. His market value can rebound quickly.

I have a question. What kind or type of collector are you guys? Do you primarily do one kind of sport, or one specific era/brand? Any specific players or teams? How big is your collection?

It's cool to hear how other people build their collections because they're all pretty unique.
