    Nice!

Is it really possible to tell by feel like that?

Or by weight, if you could bring a scale in with you (though i doubt walmart would want you doing that lol)...Just wondering if anyone's read articles where people tested this...

You can feel if there is a relic card in a pack just by touching it most of the time. You can tell for sure by bending the pack slightly with one hand and if it barely bends its a relic. Some say this is a less than reputable thing to do others say hey, why not. Its called pack searching. I've been guilty of doing it, but I usually just feel the pack and see if it feels harder than a normal pack. I don't ever really go through stacks of cards bending them.

Even better when they say it's a patch card yet it's still a plain white relic.

I think he means the piece of white cardboard they put in some packs to deter pack searchers. Makes it feel like a relic, but its just cardboard.

I've got a fairly large collection of NFL cards sitting in boxes in my closet. I was into it big time back in the early 90's. I don't have any cards newer then 95'. I've got some decent rookie cards, Montana, Elway, Emmitt Smith, Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Aikman, Farve and tons more. I've got a lot of complete sets as well. Topos, pinnicle, bowman, pro set , score, and more. Don't know if they have any value. This summer I'm going to finish off a room in my basement and put the best cards in display cases on the walls. I just enjoy getting them out and looking through them all every once and awhile.

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread

I have maybe four albums of baseball cards. I had been purchasing cards regularly until I was about 11 years old. I remember because it was the '99 ASG at Fenway Park when we went to buy more cards, and I was accused of stealing a card when I had one at my hip and I stuck my hand in my pocket to grab cash (didn't have wallets at the time, and wasn't smart enough to be switching the card to the other hand while doing so as the manager was suspicious). He removed me from the store, and I was having a crying fit because of it. Haven't bought cards since.

It's amazing how many cards I bought though when I was little. I want to get "back into it," but if I really make it a collector's thing I really will want to show it off. Sadly, there would be this 15-20 year gap for unpurchased cards which will also be very weird.

Basically anything from the 90s and early 2000s is worth nothing today. So the gap is really no big deal.

Yeah. My understanding is that anything pre-1950 is where the money is at.

I scored this for 99 cents on ebay last night.

Didn't have rookie cards for either so figured why not at those prices.

I don't mean in terms of value, I just mean in terms of consistency. The "unpurchased cards" is the lot that I never bought in those past years.

"Alright, I see you have a Michael Stanton, couple o' Chris Sale's, a rookie Buster Posey card that's nice, a........ a Gary DiSarcina? Derek Bell? Jim Eisen-who???"

Just don't know how to close that gap better is all.

I bought my annual hobby box of Topps WWE today and was pretty disappointed with my hits. Got a Randy Orton Summerslam mat relic and a Bray Wyatt shirt relic.

I guess the Wyatt relic is pretty cool. But was hoping for an autograph.
