I shared an office at Home Depot with a lady who was from the Kissemme (sp?) area in Florida. She talked about how it rained for about 30-45 minutes almost every afternoon about the time her kids were getting out of school.

I'm not sure how true that is, but with the heat in Florida during certain times of the year I would absolutely hate that.

I like rain some days, but not when it's tied in with high temperatures.

Living in Alabama, I know all too well about humidity and it blows.

I just want to live some where that experiences all of the seasons accordingly. It's pretty close to that here, with the exception of snow.

We get nice mild springs, 100 degree summers, cool falls, and somewhat cold winters. It gets cold enough to snow a lot during the winter, but it's rarely even on the same page with other aspects of the weather to get snow.

Living on the coast in California is overrated.

You live on the central coast. That doesn't count.

It rains all the time in the summer in FL, around 2-4pm a quick thunderstorm may show up then after that its fine. However it's not quite all the time it just seems that way. I believe it's worse in the middle of the state as they get more of the tornados, etc. It's never bothered me as I like the heat and the rain is a nice change up some days.

Also contrary to popular belief it's not as constantly hot as people think here year round, like this year so far I don't think it's been 90 yet and only above 85 like once or twice(highest temp for the next 5 days on my phone is 82). It gets down to the 20s-40s in the winter depending where you live as well.

It's not the heat there, it's the humidity. At least for someone who comes from a dry climate, like me. That and there are no hills or mountains anywhere. Just flat as can be. Florida is not a bad spot to pick though, as long as you can find employ. Housing prices are cheap which is a plus.

Yeah I used to hate FL until I got older and left the South FL area, cheaper to live and better atmosphere. Too many snow birds, stuck up people, etc. down in the South FL area.

Humidity is definetely a huge factor.

A hundred degrees in Alabama is a lot more unbearable than a hundred degrees in an area with no humidity. When you walk outdoors and you're almost instantly sweating.. it sucks.

Just another reason I was lucky to have grown up living on the lake.

I'm curious to see where my first Navy deployment would be, if it happened to be on the shore somewhere.

Yeah I think humidity just never bothered me as ive always been used to being covered in sweat from sports. The worst summer I had though in FL was when I moved to FSU for my first summer semester, never had to deal with hills before and no wind off the ocean was weird.

I think if I had to stay in Texas, I'd probably pick San Antonio. The few times I've been, I loved it.

Back to Texas (Houston or San Antonio), or maybe back to Oklahoma (It would have to be either OKC or Tulsa), and at an extreme north maybe in Wichita, Kansas.

Now if we could include US territories in this then without a doubt it'd be St. Croix.

Ive lived in NYC my whole life and Ive grown so dead tired of it all. Great place for opportunities, higher education opportunities, some nice neighborhoods, night life is fun if thats your thing but the damn cost of living there is astronomical. Manhattan especially. Brooklyn and Queens are your best bet imo. With the nod to Brooklyn, especially for younger folk in the west side of Brooklyn who have dreams of living in Manhattan.

But for me I guess if I could live anywhere it would be Hawaii. But It would be incredibly impractical for me lol. Maybe Oregon or Washington too. I've only been out west once so I wouldnt mind living out there for a bit...but not in California.

Hated Houston when I've been there. (Recently spent another week there.). Traffic is awful, that road system is ridiculous and wasn't stoked on the weather.

San Antonio I liked, but I think my only issue with SA, is, I am not sure there's enough to do to really keep me occupied.

Loved Austin as well, but the weather in the summer months is not for me.

If that wasn't factored in, I would choose Austin, TX.

Something is wrong here. Maybe it has gotten worse in the past few years, but any time I've been to Houston, I'd say the traffic was fine given the size of the city. Highways were busy, but I never really found myself sitting in traffic.

Dallas however, I got in around 10:30 am one morning, and there was still rush hour traffic. No wreck, anything like that, just stop-and-go mid-morning. Maybe everyone was taking an early lunch...

Not all parts of Southern California have horrible traffic.

Going into/out of LA, of course, is horrendous. San Diego isn't as bad as you are probably thinking. Going North through Orange Country isn't too bad, though once you get near the Fullerton area and switch towards LA County (and the highway goes down to 2 lanes) it gets worse.

I'd take most of SoCal's traffic over DC (the worst I've ever had to live with) and Chicago (tied with LA traffic for me.)

I've been to Houston probably 10 times in the past 2 years. So. Cal traffic has nothing on Houston's traffic. Even the people who live there say it's awful.

Last time there, landed at Houston Hobby Airport, at 2:00, took me 1:35 to go 14 miles to my destination. No accidents, no wrecks, just a ton of traffic on that ridiculous beltway they designed.

you talk of So. Cal traffic. Have you ever been here?
