    Oklahoma Tornado Outbreak

I think it's time for this to have its' own thread.

Not even sure what to say. Absolutely insane devastation. At least 10 dead, unconfirmed rumors of children trapped/dead in their school.

Pics and videos are beyond what I feel like posting right now, so you're on your own there.

**** like this is why I call people out of their mind and borderline stupid when they say they like tornadoes.

I've seen devastation similar in person and I really do sympathize with these people. Hopefully no more deaths get confirmed and the recovery is as painless as possible, which will still hurt.

Lance West of KFOR has reported at least 7 children drowned at the school, and they are looking for 20-30 more. He also said that they have transitioned into a recovery operation. Literally moments ago on TWC.

      Horrible.

I have a friend that lives in Oklahoma City. Just texted him. He and his family are ok and sustained no damage. The tornadoes were about 20 miles away from where they were. Scary stuff.

First off, I might be heading up there (don't know yet) due to my job as a Utility Designer. I was in Cleburne last week and even though it wasn't as bad as some other places. Still, many homes had their faces ripped off with many of the things in their places. They looked more like dollhouses than anything else. Lines were everywhere, nails were hard to see, it was really bad. The worst was a trailer that has been lifted up and smashed into the roof of a garage. I can only imagine what Oklahoma is going through.

              Wow, just awful.

I love thunderstorms, even severe thunderstorms, but tornadoes are another ballgame. I've been in one and it isn't fun; the roar of a tornado is pretty unmistakable. Very eerie to be outside before a tornado hits. Goes from super calm to chaos in a matter of minutes. Can't even imagine being in one anything close to the one that just hit OK.

Yeah, no. Don't like tornadoes, never been in one, have had nightmares about them, just no. Don't want any part of that.

They don't really hit around here but they've touched down a handful of times the past few years. After what happened in Alabama and Missouri the past couple years, it just scares me when that big one finally hits.

                    Re: Oklahoma Tornado Outbreak

                    This is absolutely horrible.

I have a lot of friends that still live in Moore and Norman.

My friend's wife works at an elementary school in Moore. Luckily, here school wasn't hit and their house in Moore on Sooner Rd barely missed the path of destruction.

The worst part was trying to get a hold of people afterwards. Cell service was horrible and it took a few hours before I started making contact.

I used to live just a few miles from where the strongest winds on earth were ever recorded in the 1999 Moore tornado. It's shocking that this tornado almost hit the exact same spot.

Watching the news at home and seeing an area I lived in for 5 years is just shocking.

Sadly, I'd say that's a lowish estimate on the death toll. Apparently this thing came out of nowhere (by today's standards anyway) and many people didn't have a chance.
