Anyone else have a wife/gf with horrible PMS?
When my wife has pms she literally hates me. I can do nothing right and anything wrong is grounds for torture and execution. It's so bad that I think she has lost her mind. Of course, she seems to be able to control it with her sons(my stepsons), which ticks me off, because they raise hell all the time. I'm tired of the abuse and am considering a divorce. It's that bad. I don't deserve the name calling and questioning of my character, especially since I go to great lengths to be a good husband and stepfather.

I would say it depends on her behavior the rest of the time, but I would lean toward the later. If you are thinking about leaving i would either say try counseling or get out. Once the feelings of leaving start they tend to only get stronger. Why live a miserable life?In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

I have never had a issue with a women with PMS. They might be slightly more moody but never felt abused because of it. I think they might have abdominal pains and such but I firmly believe it can be used as a excuse to be a bitch.
So take my advice with a grain of salt but I would not put up with it. Life is to short, not going to stay with a miserable person.Comment

Re: Anyone else have a wife/gf with horrible PMS?
PMS is never an excuse. But you have to establish that very early on in the relationship. You address it the first time it happens because if you don't, they'll use it as a crutch for the remainder of the relationship.
I understand mood swings and the like and I sympathize with them for all the hormonal stuff they have to go through. But that is never a green light to tee off on you.
My advice is don't divorce her.
If you're even contemplating divorce then it seems to me that there are other issues in the relationship beyond this.Comment

I think you should talk to her about it without bringing up thoughts of seperation or divorce.
If you want to continue discussing it here, care to share a few examples ? Everyone has a different idea and tolerance for women being a bitch.
Good Luck.Comment

Talk to her about it. Nothing will change until you address the issue.Comment

She is 38. I hear at about 35 women's hormones get bad and pms becomes much worse. Yes, I do think she's a little mean, in fact I know she is.
As to the "Some dudes" statement....I'm not Jesus and have tried to make a go of it, but when my father, who is as conservative as it gets, asks me how long I'm going to be a doormat...and you don't know a person until you get married. I have volunteered to coach her son, deal with her other son who has Asperger's(you have no idea what that has been like), basically I have taken on a role many men wouldn't even try and most wouldn't have lasted 6 months. But this is about ascertaining whether pms is a valid excuse to go off on me. I am trying to be a reasonable, understanding husband. So that "some dudes" statement makes me want to put my foot in your butt, you jerk. You have no idea.Comment

Re: Anyone else have a wife/gf with horrible PMS?
Talking has been done, she takes a pill to help her moods. I think maybe she's just a witch sometimes. I hate to say that.
She is the one who brought up divorce because of an argument. I was leaving town and knew she wanted locks on the gates. I locked two and told her one gate didn't have a lock and she could go get one. She wanted me to dealy leaving and do it myself. I told her she is capable of getting a lock. She proceeded to berate me and say I didn't care about her safety. I explained that in reality a fence isn't going to keep anyone out of our backyard that wants in; any ten year old could get over our fence in two seconds. She continued to berate me until I left to make a special trip to get a lock. As I was pulling out, she ran outside with a lock and I put it on. Done deal, right? No, she continued to question my concern for her and it became a character issue. The fight continued into other areas in which she complained that she watches my daughter while I work and make money to help my oldest daughter who is in college. I told her my little girl isn't any trouble, which my wife has said many times, and she took this as not appreciating her. I can kind of see that, and I apologized, but she won't let it go, ruined Father's Day, and ran off to her mother's house, where she stayed the night. I find this absurd. She cussed me out, called me names, and acted like a little spoiled brat. This from a 38 year old woman. I'm astounded with her behavior, but this does happen about every 3 months. I finally told my parents about it because I am at my wits end. She threatened divorce because of a gate lock, which I ultimately took care of, and because I told her it wasn't a big deal to watch by 10 year old daughter while I work in the mornings.
Anyone who read all that, thanks.Last edited by longshadow11; 06-17-2013, 12:29 PM.Comment

Re: Anyone else have a wife/gf with horrible PMS?
I need to see this perspective. I can't really bring this up with friends because I don't want them to think she's a crazy witch. But I need to find out if this kind of behavior is common. I know her wanting the locks is something some women would want, but she didn't ask me to check on the locks; I did it out of thinking of her. And she still went off on me because I told her to get a lock for the gate which didn't have one. It's not like she's an invalid. She lived by herself for three years. And put locks on those gates. Here I am, just came in from mowing six yards to supplement our income; I just had shoulder surgery so it hurts like hell, no sleep because of aching shoulder, and she's crawling my butt about something she can easily do herself.Comment
