I lived in Denver for 4 years and really hope to get back there in the future, but you're right. It's tough to manage without a good paying job, however you can find some nice deals on living if you look hard enough. My fiancee and I lived in a 1 bedroom condo downtown for a very reasonable price... but we got really lucky I think.Support Local Sports

Re: I want to move
I don't live in Tennessee.
I've been to Nashville quite a bit. The amount of southern belles in that city is insane. If you're in your twenties and single then Nashville should be where you want to move to. Just go to the mile of bars and enjoy hot women, good music, and no cover charge.

Re: I want to move
Texas is a geographical oddity in that it's only about 20 miles from the sun in the summertime.
Seriously, there's hot, then there's Texas hot. lolGO 'HAWKS!

Re: I want to move
We went golfing and tried to walk 18 holes, no dice, we cut it off and headed back on hole #12. Later, that night, had the most painful cramp in my leg.
No, thank you, I'll take the 4 seasons, even if I whine about the cold and snow, which hasn't been too bad lately.
If Dallas was that hot, I can only imagine Houston was hotter.Comment

Re: I want to move
I haven't started a thread on here in a bit, and with the recent outburst of "I need advice" type threads I wanted to join in the fad and see what kind of advice you guys can come up with.
For those of you that follow me on Twitter, you know about most of the stuff that's been going on in my life (some more than others). Broke up with the GF, can't get over it, can't get the confidence to move on, blah blah blah. This isn't a relationship advice thread, though, that's just the beginning of the background.
I'm quite discontent with my life and I think a lot of it has to do with where I am, physical-location wise. I don't like the people around me, I don't fit in well, I'm living back with my mom and her boyfriend and I don't like that, and I don't think I can take the next step of my life here.
In fact, I'm about 99.9% confident in saying that I need to move to continue my life. It's strange, I always thought I could stay in MA my entire life because there are things I do like...but right now, where I'm at in my life, I can't do anything here. I've worn out most of the bridges in my social life here and meeting new friends in this area is rough.
So, with all that said, I want to move. As those Twitter followers know, I've narrowed it down to North Carolina (probably the Charlotte area as my dad travels there a lot for work and there's a restaurant location there for the chain I work for that I could transfer to so I have a job to start) and the Portland/Seattle northwest area. I've enjoyed the time I've spent in NC and can see myself enjoying the climate down there, and then I've been told, personality-wise, I'd fit in quite well out in the Northwest.
The point of this thread, and my main questions are: how does one go about doing the research of places to live when both areas are far away and I can't just drive out and window-shop for a place to live? Does anyone who lives in those areas have any suggestions of places to start? I'm looking to make trips to both locations early this fall and would love it if any of my OSers in the area could hook me up with places to go, things to see, those kind of things.
Basically, I just need some help to get motivated to actually kick-start my *** to going through with this and you guys are generally good at that.
Yeah. That's it. Thanks.
(also, if anyone wants to let me crash at their place, I am a 24 year old male who, despite writing about serial killers, does not want to murder you in your sleep. I do have some stomach problems so I tend to poop two or three times a day so I might punish your toilet a bit but other than that I'm harmless.)YNWAComment

Re: I want to move
Ha, I should've put a disclaimer in there somewhere:
If any other OSer (around my age, obviously), is looking to move or for a roommate, I will consider any area said person wants to move or lives. It'd be cheaper (probably), easier, and we're both already nerds on a video game message board, so we have something in common.

But that's not what this thread is about, so I'll stop derailing it.Comment

There's a chance this move might be put on hold:
My General Manager pulled me aside last night and told me that she wanted to give my name to our Regional Manager as he's looking for someone to promote from within to manage one of the restaurants here.
Obviously going to see how this plays out, still a lot that needs to be done before I think it's a real option.
Thanks again for the advice, guys.Comment
