Re: Going to New York for a few days...
The good news is I never really felt threatened during my stay. It's just the regional tone as a whole felt quite blunt and as a result, oftentimes rude - which was way more stereotypical and cliche than I was expecting. For crying out loud, we were in the city for five minutes before the guy two cars in front of us got out of his vehicle to berate the guy behind him by saying, "I'm tryna pahk heah!" Honestly thought movies were just exaggerating that stuff all these years.
In my area, I'm just used to, if I do something stupid, someone saying, "Oh hey, no problem. It's all good", whereas in New York, it was more like, "Don't be stupid", but in a kind of way that was like, "No harm intended though... but seriously, just stop being stupid." Somehow, there's almost a charm to it.Comment

4 Days in New York = Kind of getting a lot of these!

But seriously, that probably would have been very helpful to read before I left.
Also, do I get tourism street cred for going to Harlem, Coney Island and Flatbush instead of settling for this?

Re: Going to New York for a few days...
I'm leaving for NYC tomorrow morning and will be there for four days.
I have a concert to go to on Thursday night (the main reason for the trip) but other than that I am just going to wander around and do touristy stuff and eat a ton of food that I shouldn't. If any NYC OSers want to meet up for a beer or something while I'm in town, let me know and I'll PM you my number. I am staying at the Waldorf Astoria so I'm very centralized.Comment
