Something I don't understand...
People are just inconsiderate as hell on the road. It only matters if they make the light, get to merge in, etc. I try to be very courteous and aware of my surroundings on the roads I travel.
I do consider the general population to be dumb. Some people are just oblivious. Sometimes I truly wonder how these people got through life.
As for road rage, only on egregious errors have I really freaked out. I got t-boned by a drunk driver, and in the rare instances someone really messes up, it takes me back to those moments. Otherwise, I can usually pick out whose gonna mess up before/as it's happening, so I get all sarcastic about various details about their lives instead of all worked up and angry.
Although recently I was running late and of course you get behind the slowest drivers, so I took a deep breath and just said, "Chill." It's only going to make a difference of a few minutes. I'd still be late.
I never pull up on people or tailgate because its not going to end well. Never know who you are dealing with. My girl will tailgate or ride her brakes if she THINKS someone is tailgating her and it drives me crazy. She also is so delayed on her horn. It's overkill unless done properly.
Just be aware and considerate on the road is all I ask.Last edited by slickdtc; 08-14-2013, 08:31 PM.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: Something I don't understand...
I thought someone was going to end up causing a big wreck in a similar situation this past weekend.
There's an area on one of the major highways by my house where they're doing all kinds of construction. They ended up shrinking the merge lane in one area because of it. Saturday night I was following a semi when an SUV who was in the merge lane tried to speed up and get around the semi before the lane ended, rather than just getting in front of me. Luckily they saw the road ended in time and managed to hit the brakes and get in front of me before the lane ended.
SUV at 65mph + those concrete construction barriers + semi wouldn't have been a pretty sight, and I'm guessing I would have either ended up in it, or getting rear ended from slamming on my brakes.
And we get pissed... I think that's really the only difference. You shouldn't hate road rage. Maybe a mild dislike.Comment

Re: Something I don't understand...
LA is the worst I've ever experienced. Denver was bad but it just seemed like people didn't know what they were doing while driving (changing lanes without checking, swerving over lane lines, going 40 on the interstate, etc.).
In LA, people are just out of their freaking minds. I've only lived in the area for 7 months but I've already seen a high speed chase, 3 wrecks as they happened, and so many swerving/speeding drivers I can't count. Everyday on the interstate, I see someone going about 100 mph flying by in the left lane and swerving around traffic. They know exactly what they're doing but just don't seem to care.
I get really annoyed/frustrated driving, but I don't do anything to other drivers because you never know if someone is just going to slam into you these days. People are ****ing crazyComment

I don't care what you say the people who intentionally cut in line when it is very clear there is traffic will always make me rage. You know you are sitting like 1/4 mile back in line and this doofus speeds by on the left and then tries to cut in to merge right just before the merge happens.
I truly hope for then to get in an accident or a flat tire or run out of gas or radiator blow.

Some people, mostly women, can't grasp the notion that their driving a 4,000 lbs lethal machine.
Personally, I don't touch my phone while driving. Any call or text can either wait for a red light or for me to pull into a parking lot.Comment

Re: Something I don't understand...
I don't really get road rage. I get frustrated with some things people around here do (40mph on an on-ramp is the most significant), but I'm disappointed I don't get to use my horn. I've been a passenger in situations where I would have used the horn, but most of the time I don't care as I just automatically assume every other car on the road is being driven by a chimpanzee.
I do like it when people think they're making me mad by either tailgating me and all I can see is their windshield or purposely going slow.

Here's a fun one from just now: I knew it was going to be a fun ride home from the moment the light turned green. Somehow these people in front of me were able to accelerate while their brake lights were on going up an incline. I actually don't know how that's possible. Anyway, they're going the speed limit, which is 25-30 MPH on these back roads (everyone typically goes 40-45 safely). Get to a 3 way stop sign, of course they don't have their turn signal on (only right or left for us). I'm okay with going the speed limit, it's cool you follow the law. But I don't understand why you don't use your blinker. They completely stop at the stop sign and without a blinker the other cars have no idea which way they're going. So we end up having to wait as the other cars continue to go because this driver doesn't communicate either with signals or waving someone on or understanding when their turn is to go at a stop sign. Same thing at another 3 way stop a quarter mile down the road. Still going the speed limit.
Sure enough, get to the only light on this back road. No blinker again, and they make a right on red when there's a giant sign right there that says NO TURN ON RED.

Now, if we're talking about the jerks who do this when there is no construction or anything, like the ones who move out of an exit lane that is packed and into the free flowing highway for the sole purpose of going to the front and pulling the "oh dang I forgot I need to exit here, can I sneak in??" BS... That's a different story.
