I think interstate lane merging shouldn't be nearly as hard as it is. There are times where I'll take cruise off and let off about 5mph to give on ramp traffic a chance to slide in front and they will never speed up and merge.
It's not always as easy as shifting lanes to let someone in. If I can do it I will. I do the same thing on the highway. If someone is in a median waiting to pull out I'll get over to let them on to the highway if I can.
There are some examples on the interstate where you can't get over because you will hang yourself out to dry and then have to do something dangerous to get back over so you get to an exit.
I'm not coming to a stop because some ******* wants to use the entire on ramp lane that ends, before finally getting in front of me.
Get on the gas and let's keep things moving. Some people try to hard to be aware and cautious on the interstate and it really makes them even more reckless and dangerous for everyone doing the speed limit.
I just don't think there's a black and white approach to interstate and highway driving. People just have to use some common sense and no one has to slam on brakes or cut anyone off to get where they are going.
