    Need Advice: Irresponsible Pet Owners.

I need some advice. Pleas excuse the grammar.. it's hard to type from my phone.

My neighbor has a pitbull. He's a friendly dog towards humans, but he absolutely hates cats. My niece's cat had kittens a few months ago and he got into our yard. My mom came home and he had killed all three kittens.

I bitched about it. I'm not a cat lover, but it's the principle of it.

A few weeks later, he got out again and was on our back deck and killed the momma cat.

They keep him in the house, but they live in Mississippi most of the time and have someone come let him out.

Okay, we got a new kitten for my niece. This is the first cat I've liked in a long time. When it was a kitten, I could walk around with it on my shoulder like it was a parrot. He plays with our dogs (which are a pitbull, husky, and jack russel terrier). The cat was an all around good animal.

I was out cooking Saturday and had walked in the house to fix something. I looked up through sliding glass door and saw the *** of a dog so I took off out the door. The dog had got a hold of our cat. I kicked him in the head to get him to let go and then he chased the cat by the pool and into the yard, where the cat went up a tree. (You should have witnessed me James Bond off the side of the deck after him). I grabbed him by the collar and his mouth was full of blood and so was his nose and he had a few scratches where the cat got him in the process..

I drag him by the collar back to their house and the guy asked what happened and I explained that he likely just killed another one of our pets and I'm sick of having this conversation He just laughed it off and said, "Well.. looks like the cat got him too".

I couldn't help myself. I said, "**** yeah the cat did. If a pitbull locks his jaws on your arm what the **** would you do about it ?".

He realized I was being serious. I'm not like my mom. I'm not passive about **** like that. Whether I like cats or not, It's the fact that his *** **** animal can't be contained to his property and he keeps killing living pets that are on our property.

How do I proceed from here ? I don't want to let it go. Our dogs stay in our yard because of the wireless dog fencing system we have.

I don't want anything to happen to the dog, but I also don't want the irresponsible actions of our neighbors to go unpunished. When they get home I want to be able to go to them and let them know how I feel about the situation, without being a complete ******* about it. I'm tired of burying dead cats... just ****ing sick of it.

The cat lived until today when he finally couldn't make it any longer.

Now I have to lie to my niece about another one of her pets.

I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place because If I called someone, they would take the dog and kill it or something. I don't want that to happen and that's not really an option.

I know you don't want anything to happen to the dog, but you have to call animal control and if they put it down then so be it.

So his animal came on your property and killed your animal?

Unless you can really talk some sense into him, animal control is kind of your only option

I'd contact animal control & try to have the dog put down. I love dogs. I have a pit mix. No way in hell would I ever be ok with my dog going into another yard and killing another animal.

If my dog did that I would try to right the situation with an apology & money. I would beg to not have my dog put down and would build a fence.

Animal control. I know it being a pit it probably doesn't stand a chance of them not putting it down, but those are a lot of signs of aggressiveness. Fight to have the owner punished too so he just doesn't get another. Someone who clearly doesn't give a **** that their dog has killed so many cats shouldn't own a pit bull.

Like the others have said, you have to call Animal Control.

To be honest, you handled it better than I would have. Because if someone else's pet would hurt one of my pets and they "laughed it off", I'd be laughing while I was bashing their skull in.

I would approach him (be calm, even though in the situation you have every right to be pissed) remind him about the number of your animals he has killed, tell him you do not want to call animal control, but if he comes on your property again and shows any sort of aggression you will. Let him know that in those situations where they have an aggressive animal Animal Control will likely not let him go and will put him down.

If he cant understand it in those plain terms and does not comply, then follow through with it. Its sad that the dog can't have a responsible owner who will care for it appropriately.

You must really not like cats. Most people would have been in an uproar over that. That dog would have been gone in a flash.

The fact that this has happened on three seperate occasions is unacceptable. Time to call animal control. Three strikes and it's euthanization time.

This might sound a bit sick but did you take pictures of the dead cats or have any other proof? I don't know how these things work but I'm sure you will need to show evidence of some kind.

I have the dead cat that's under the building outside the shop, which houses a few things. I'm going to have to fish it out with a shovel and bury it tomorrow.

I usually don't feel sympathetic towards cats, but this one bothered me for some reason. He deserved better.

It's not like he went trying to pick a fight or anything.
