Off Topic 2014

Met with a DJ last night for our wedding. I dunno what we were expecting going in, but we walked away so impressed. This guy isn't just a human jukebox, he lives and loves the life. We're on a budget, but I think we can stretch it for this guy or one of his recommendations.

Music is a huge part of my life, and the right DJ can make or break an event as special as a wedding. I'd rather splurge for something like that then a photographer. Probably gonna go with a young up-and-comer for photos, and also have people email/send any pictures they take during the wedding. Tough call to make because my fiancé is a photographer but she agrees. With such nice cameras on phones, I don't think it's as radical as it was 10 years ago.

Getting pretty excited. Got to sample the music that would be played as my girl is walking down to meet me... Whoa! I can't wait.

Put a couple disposable cameras on every table at your reception, though I suppose that really only covers the after party.

Congrats on the wedding planning, I let my wife do most if it and even then it was trying with dealing with budget, guest list, etc.

You are absolutely right about the DJ. A DJ really dictates a reception and is much more than just an entertainer. We hired a DJ that did clubs in Vegas and he was legit.

We've seen/heard other DJs at wedding receptions and there is such a difference when people try to go more affordable in the area. It didn't flow smoothly and people tend to leave early rather than party all night.

Any tips on the best places to get major appliances? Or know anything about these and can suggest what brand to go towards? It's just me that would be using the washer and dryer so they'll probably be ran once a week if that.

I've always had good luck with whirlpool. I've bought appliances from Best Buy, Lowe's and Home Depot, and they've all been great to work with. Definitely go for a place that offers free delivery.

I had a craving for a Walmart deli sub, quick trip less than a mile away, no need to lock up the apartment. Started up my car and scraped away the ice/snow, went to open the door and it was locked. No idea how it happened, but the car was running and I was locked out. Total panic moment, I tried to force the door open, tried to get the rear hatch to open, nothing. Then it dawned on me I have a set of backup keys in one of my cupboards inside, so I ran back inside grabbed the keys and saved the day. Thank God I left the apartment unlocked, I would've been SCREWED!

Challenger was 28 years ago today. I was only 7, but really can't express how that changed my life. Drove an interest in space exploration, astronomy, etc. I'll always own a telescope and share the universe with anyone that I can get to gaze at the stars.

I don't quite remember the Challenger as it happened but that one moment in time changed the space program forever. It had started to really get traction again comparable to the level of interest back in the 1960s and seeing that happen live on national TV totally sucked the air out of it.

One wonders if the Challenger disaster never happened if we'd be further along in space exploration.
