There's a difference between not being used to it and not being prepared for it, to me. In the midwest we have plans for pretty much everything, barring hurricanes, which are pretty much a scientific impossibility here. We even have plans in place for earthquakes, despite the fact that there have only been 13 here in Iowa in the state's history, the two most recent being 2004 and 1948 (Not so much in north central Iowa as there's not a fault line close enough to do much damage, but certainly in eastern, southern and severe northwestern Iowa). So, I just think it's a tad ridiculous to not be prepared for something that is possible. Same goes for the Northeast when they got hit with that hurricane. It's a possibility, so you should be prepared for it just in case. Just because something doesn't happen often doesn't mean it will never happen.

Re: Off Topic 2014
Hurricanes are natural disasters. 1-3 inches of snow is nothing. Plows or not. Snow really isn't that hard to drive in. It's not like I have much experience driving in it either, it only happens a few times a year. Just don't be an idiot ... But we know that's asking too much.
The ice is the main concern. That's what makes me nervous. You hit a patch, you're at gravity's (momentum? Burgh help me out here) mercy.
It's not fair to say Southerners can't deal with the snow, it's the idiots who don't respect Mother Nature that crash into everyone else and lock up the ****ty traffic system especially in a place like ATL.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills

A hurricane is extreme weather. 2 inches of snow is not.
Sandy was mostly a structural problem. 2 inches of snow causing chaos is a people problem.
And no one is surprised that it happened, but it doesn't make the ATL thing any less funny

Yep, ATL's infrastructure certainly didn't help.
I am just glad I could be spark in the south's secession powder keg. Secede before we succeed.YNWAComment

Even in cases of extreme weather, there need to be plans in place as long as it's possible. That's the point I was trying to make there. Wasn't trying to offend anyone.MLB: Minnesota Twins

Did Gotmadskillz take over your account?Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
You mean to tell me people living in different areas of the world are not used to certain conditions? Get the entire **** out of here.
This whole thing is ridiculous. I don't recall a lot of southerners laughing at how northerners weren't ready for a Cat 1 hurricane. A Category One. A step above tropical storm.
It snows once every four years here, don't give me this "we should know how to handle this" bull****. It would be a waste of money to have snowplows and salt trucks on standby all winter.
If you have a problem with how Atlanta ignored the issue until literally the last second, I understand that, but you can't be surprised that it's an issue.
