Ever feel like trying to cut ties with someone because you care too much and it's probably best for your own sanity to just move on?

This is one of those times I just wish I didn't really give a **** about people and I wasn't such an emotional person. I admire those people who it seems like nothing can bother them and they just do them. Even though I know at lot of the time that isn't really the case.

I'm certainly in touch with that. Especially where it pertains to family.

I did that. My best friend in high school was a girl. Yadda poopa ****ta, you know where this ends up. Eventually when I graduated I decided I'd be more sane if I just cut things off.

She's married now, which seems insane to me. I can't fully grasp my head around people my age getting married since I am soooooo far away from that.

My best friend is a girl, and that's never really been a problem for me outside of pretty much the first couple of weeks I knew her and back then we hardly knew each other, I never said anything about it and now I don't know what I'd do without her. She's basically a sister to me. So, I mean, there are multiple ways that can work out, honestly. The "friend zone" isn't something I really worry about, in fact, I disagree with the whole notion.

As far as your other point, I agree. One of my friends is a week younger than me (I'm 20) and she's been married since September.

I'm 22, and I have some friends who are married already. I couldn't even imagine getting married right now.

I guess more power to those people who want to do it, but no thanks for me. I plan on spending most of my 20's without a wedding ring.

Although, I'm not complaining about them getting married, because all 3 of the friend weddings I've been to have been open bar.

Also, friend weddings are awesome. Don't have to feel bad about being drunk when Great Aunt Ruth (Who hasn't seen you since you were thiiiiis tall) inevitably tries to strike up a conversation with you.

There's something odd to me about having a girl as your best friend. I feel like that's conducive to being zoned frequently. We seem to have a decent amount of you guys on here with female besties, and subsequently a good amount of friend-zone stories.

Hey here's an idea mazda miata guy! If the roads have ice and snow on them you and your mazda miata shouldn't be on them. If you had followed this advice your mazda miata wouldn't be in a ditch right now.

The problem with having a girl as your best friend is that it makes it very difficult for you to have a girlfriend too. They will hate each other and you end up having to choose. I would bet that most of the guys who have a best friend that is female, are not in a relationship. They don't see it as a friend zone, but that is what it is. It hinders your ability to get into other relationships. Your girlfriend is NOT gonna want you hanging with your female "friend", jealousy among females is crazy. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it is the exception and not the rule.

One of my buddies in college had a situation like this. Had a gf since HS, then he became good friends with a girl he met in class, they hung out a lot. We were always surprised that the gf was so cool about him hanging out with her.

They ended up breaking up though, so apparently she wasn't cool with it.
