I don't hate the Lions one bit, actually. I grew up loving Barry Sanders, though, and I actually like the city of Detroit.

I'll never cheer for them (unless it's one of those weird situations where their winning helps the Packers) but they're the only team in the division that I don't actively wish ill upon (not that they need any help piling misery on themselves.)

Maybe if they were any good at any point in the last 40 years I'd feel differently, but I'm actually somewhat of a closet Michigan sports fan in general. That's quite odd.

I don't hate anyone in the NFC South. Close to hating the Falcons. I'm a fan of Brees and Newton though. I don't cheer for them to win, but am happy for them when they do well. It also helps when I know my team is no threat during the season.

Michigan State, Ohio State, and Iowa can kick rocks.

I'm a Reds/Bengals fan. I despise the Browns, Ravens and Steelers. I didn't used to hate the Astros. They were such a bland organization that it elicited no emotion of any kind. I do hate the Cardinals, though I have infinite respect for them. I didn't used to hate the Brewers, but I do now. I used to feel bad for the Pirates because they were so miserable, but then they beat the Reds in the wild card game last year, so screw them. It's hard to hate the Cubs because they're so bad.

As for Oregon. I root for them to beat no one. Ever. I would actually root for Notre Dame in this one instance if they ever played eachother.

While in a drunken state after a Beaver game I was quoted as saying "I'd root for Al Qaeda State before I root for those *****".

So I'm not a big fan of them.

As for NFL....I HATE green bay and Minnesota. I respected Barry Sanders....But my Lions hatred has started to sprout up much more recently.

I hate the Cardinals because they all eat babies and I can't support an organization full of baby eating cannibals.

Indifferent on the rest of the division, save for hating the Cubs when they're relevant. So not in about a decade.

Packers:
**** the Bears. **** the Vikings. The Lions are adorable because they think they're people.

I have a buddy that's a Vikings fan, but claims he "likes" the Lions. This has been the source of our biggest arguments.

I have a buddy that loves Duke basketball and is also a big fan of North Carolina.

I also don't really hate hate the Cowboys or Redskins. But thats just because they suck in such awesome fashion every year that they bring me too much joy to hate them.

My feelings toward Alabama are well known if you follow me on Twitter. Alabama Delenda Est, etc. etc.

After them, I really only truly hate Ole Miss and Georgia. I hate the Falcons and Mississippi State baseball, but the majority of that hate resides with Roddy White and John Cohen, disrespectfully. Those two are the the scum of Earth and I hope their property is razed and salted.

As far as Arkansas, Aggy, and ULL, well they're just annoying.

On the flip side of the coin, I find it very hard to hate Auburn in anything. I mean obviously I root against them when LSU is involved, but it's more of a respect hate. Yeah, "Respect Hate" is a good way to put it. All of my experiences with them have been positive, and when they're not measuring dicks with Alabama, they're cool people. I like most of their traditions. Plus when LSU plays them in football, some memorable games happen.

There are a lot of divisional rivals for my teams that I don't really hate. I don't have too much of a problem with the Colts, Nationals, Kings, Warriors, Red Wings, Lightning, etc.

But I hate a lot of teams that aren't in my teams' divisions, for a multitude of other reasons. Spurs, Flyers, Patriots, Red Sox, Dodgers, etc.

There are different types of rivalries anyway. Divisional, historical, geographical, playoff, and cultural.

Maybe I'm taking sports too serious here, but how can you call yourself a fan of a team and also support a main rival?

I have my favorite teams, but also follow the local Philly teams (but don't profess to be a "fan" of them). But when the Reds met the Phils in the playoffs a couple seasons ago, damn right I didn't give one **** about anything Phillies. And that's not even NYY/BOS or Flyers/Penguins. That's just, no. It doesn't work that way.

No, you're right. Makes no sense.

I know I'm late on this BUT for the most part I agree that it makes no sense but just to play devil's advocate with hockey it's possible that the new realignment could have caused this.


Just as a small example (and I don't know anyone who was affected personally) but Columbus and Pittsburgh are pretty geographically close and for years were in different conferences.

It's not inconcevable to believe that there are people who maybe live closer to Columbus but have supported and rooted for both teams since Pitt has been better and now they find themselves as division opponents.

Also wouldn't be shocked if there were some people who supported their home team and now find the Wings as their division opponent despite always having supported them with some sort of a rooting interest in the past.

I have a rivalry with the Wizards on NBA2k14, nobody gives me as much trouble as they do. Last night at about 2am I got a little too tipsy and had a rage moment, yelling at the game like drunken fool. As luck would have it, some girl happened to be passing by in the hall and yelled back lol. Not even sure what she said but it cracked me up. Saved the game, resumed today while sober, won by 3

Never fails that every version of MLB The Show, that I will be swept by the Brewers in my Pads' franchises. That team just owns me every year.
