I was out at bars and restaurants two blocks away from the nurses apartment on Friday and Saturday. So those of you 1,000 miles away should wait to freak out until you have a case in your area

WHO: Ebola Death Rate Rises to 70 Percent

GENEVA (AP) – The death rate in the Ebola outbreak has risen to 70 percent and there could be up to 10,000 new cases a week in two months, the World Health Organization warned Tuesday.

WHO assistant director-general Dr. Bruce Aylward gave the grim figures during a news conference in Geneva. Previously, WHO had estimated the death rate at around 50 percent.

Aylward said the 70 percent death rate was “a high mortality disease” in any circumstance and that the U.N. health agency was still focused on trying to get sick people isolated and provide treatment as early as possible.
So yeah, things are pretty bad in West Africa. Hopefully they are able to get this under control soon.

You mean...a case YOU KNOW about?
Quite frankly...it's the one you don't know about that's gonna get ya!

Doc on Rush today explaining how since this has the 21 day incubation period and the person may be asymptomatic, it doesn't mean that there isn't a chance he couldn't spread it prior to those 21 days. However, he couldn't confirm it was airborne and left the door open on that.

I don't give a **** if this sounds political or not... because politics seeps into everything (just ask McGuire and Sosa) .... let's face it, but this administration has got to impose strict limitations and the CDC has got to be given some room to make strong decisions and impacting choices here. We're not W. Africa.... we have the resources.

This has always been my worry. I am by NO means saying this is the end or that I am overly concerned about this outbreak.

But after 11 years in the Army and working throughout the Middle East and Asia. This is the kind of thing I worry about. Its not going to be World War 3 with Nukes and such. It is going to be one guy with a vial of super flu or something stepping out into the center of a major city and smashing it on the street.

A second health care worker has been diagnosed with Ebola. The nurses from that hospital were not trained properly. It is being reported that they were seeing the patient with Ebola and then seeing other patients. Unbelievable. There needs to be better action taken place.

Yeah, there's been reports that there really wasn't any "protocol" in place. If that's true then WTF is going on here?!

There was an Ebola scare up here in Ontario as a Canadian Forces officer who was in Sierra Leon delivering face shields came back sick. He was quarantined for a couple days but thankfully the test results came back negative.

They're saying the second health care worked traveled to Ohio after contracting it as well, however they're saying it wasn't contagious because they weren't showing symptoms yet.
