So what do you do ?

I don't think there is a similar thread already to this, but thought it would be interesting to read what OSers do for a living?

What did you study vs. What do you actually do for a living ?
Do you enjoy what you do?

I'm a Master Control Operator at a TV station. It's not too bad. It's my 5th different job at the station since I first started nearly 4 years ago.

Did you work your way up to become that in the 4 years you've been there?

For the most part. I started as an in-studio camera op, then moved to Audio op, then Graphics op, then field photographer (getting videos and stuff for the newscast), and now MCO.

I am a Sales Representative for a family owned electronics distributor. I love what I do. We have 15 total employees that work at this company that has been around for 80 years. So they truly are my family. And the best part is, I work with my Dad.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I'm currently an apprentice auto technician. My grandfather was in the trade for 40+ years and whenever I stayed over at my grandparents place when I was younger I'd always watch him work on his 32 Ford 3 Window Coupe he has. Every once in awhile he'd let me do some "minor" repairs on it other wise known as "remove this bolt or this nut for me" but as a 7 year old it felt like I was building a car.

I practically grew up around cars and gear heads in general so it made my career choice rather easy. I have been thinking about moving into classic car restoration in the future. Maybe a few years after I complete my apprenticeship and get more experience underneath my belt.

I am/was a Phys'ed teacher and basketball/baseball coach. I'm currently (the past 2 years and 8 months), recovering from an accident. So, my full time job is physiotherapy. It consists of everything from therapeutic massage, to golf and boxing, weight lifting, and strict Physio for my legs. The aim of all of this is to get me back to teaching.
I am the lesson after the fall.

Software Engineer for a company that's headquartered in Cincinnati, but has a satellite office in Portland metro. I've been in the industry for over 5 years, and had three jobs, each one in a different city. Three years with a library software company in Blacksburg, VA (which just got acquired by a different library software company), two years with a custom software shop in Eugene, OR, and now 6 months or so now with my current place.

Basically I add features and fix bugs in existing software. I'd love to get the opportunity to build something new, but that's for side projects, I suppose. I just need to keep myself on those because I feel like I have some interesting ideas, but I can't make it keep my interest for longer than about a weekend...

Studied Computer Science so I'm doing what I want, but now I have to figure out what niche I'd like to fill in the industry, then go after that. I'm considering looking into Android development and what it would take to get into that position.

As of Monday, I'll be accepting the position of Regional Field Sales Manager for a major automotive chain. I'll have the entire state of Mississippi, as well as parts of Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee and north Alabama. I was within two miles of having to move, but thankfully we won't have to.

This awesome job opportunity/promotion caught me by surprise earlier this month, and I was quick to accept. Previously I've been a sales rep and involved in store management for the company for the last eight years.

Co owner and general manager for a resort in El Nido Philippines. It's under construction but most of the main structures are up so we are about half a year from opening. Also will be opening really soon a Island tour biz and a quarry biz.

I studied computer science in college but I ended up dropping out and started doing sales. I eventually worked at Godaddy.com for awhile and just decided two years ago to move here to open up the business with my parents.

Postal worker (don't worry, I'm sane).

My official title is data collection technician. I collect mail piece info from stations that, in turn, gets sent to DC and that info determines rate increases. (You're welcome)

Prior to this, I served in the Navy. (87-97)

I'm a Sr. Financial Analyst for a nationwide retailer. It's a good job and allows my family to live comfortably. However, I'd much rather work for myself and will end up doing just that in the next three years.

I had a very broad undergrad degree (business administration) so I could dabble in a little bit of everything until I found something I liked.
