    Thank you for your service.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Graduating with a B.S. in math in May, excited for that. I had an internship in an actuarial department for an insurance company, but I don't have any actuarial exams passed yet (there's 8 of them and they each have about a 30% pass rate from what I hear), so I'm looking for some type of analytical job for when I graduate. I also volunteer for my school's hockey team, helping record stats during and after games and building reproducible reports for players and coaches to use.

Re: So what do you do ?

I work for a NCAA Division I conference in communications/media relations.

There's a lot that goes into the job so I won't bore you with all the details. A big part of the job is updating schedules, standings, statistics on the website. Keeping updates season/career records for the sports you're assigned is another area of emphasis.

Being in a conference office does afford me more 8-5 hours than you'd find at a comparable job at a university (Sports Information), so you won't hear me complain. I do a fair amount of travel as well (6-8 trips a year) to work our Conference championships and media days events for the sports I'm directly involved in.

Prior to this job I was a sports reporter/editor for 13 years. I majored in English (Creative Writing), which was largely due to FSU not having a Journalism major and me not wanting to wait 1-2 years to get into the Communications major (long wait list due to the film school being so good). Still, the goal was always to be working in a sports-related job so to that point I am doing what I went to school for.

I'm currently on my way to graduating high school, after that I'll probably go to our towns community college, and get my transfer degree and go to WSU Vancouver (where my girlfriend is going). For what? I'm not quite sure yet...
