Off Topic 2015
I've never worn contacts and got LASIK done.
During the surgery they gave me Valium so I wouldn't freak out. It was an interesting experience. When they went to cut the eye before the laser does its job. In one eye I could still see but it was very blurry. The other eye went completely black.
It was a quick process. From getting there to walking out was maybe 10 min and that included waiting a little bit before the surgery started.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: Off Topic 2015
They could drug me all they want. If I'm not knocked the f out, they aren't coming within an inch of my eye. I hate it enough when the eye doctor dilates your eye then gets right on it with that damn light. No way in hell I could have them cutting my cornea.
I'll stick to glasses. Haven't ever bothered me too much in 18 years and I can see well enough without them when my eyes are killing me to take them off.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2015
Yeah, from those descriptions, I don't think I could do Lasik even if it could help my vision. It's a major effort for me just to hold my eyes open so my Dr. can put the dilating drops in.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

How bad were your eyes before? My subscription is -5.5 so I'm blind as a bat.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

My wife is -3.7 and I had better vision than her. I think it was around -3.0 or -3.5. I think it was like 20/200 or 20/250 if that's even s thing. My vision now is 15/20.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: Off Topic 2015
The procedure never bothered me or hurt at all, as others said, it was a little intimidating and uncomfortable but it was over within a matter of minutes (both eyes combined).
The most pain I felt was the day after the procedure because of all the medicine you have to put in your eyes, they would burn and I wouldn't open them for long periods of times but that really only lasted a day and it was very well worth it.
Now my old man, he got it when it was first offered and I will not post what the procedure was when he got it because it will really freak people out and it has so vastly changed since then.Comment

LASIK is much better than PRK in the recovery phase. With LASIK you're basically ok in a day. PRK you're out for a week or 2.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: Off Topic 2015
Had it done a little too young with an astigmatism when the procedure was in it's primitive state still.
It's not unique to need a touch up though a few years later. Most doctors offer a "warranty" if you will that if you need to have it redone a few years later they do it again for a discounted price.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2015
I don't think LASIK could actually do anything for me. I'm 20/25 in the left and 20/80 in the right, but I use a ton of prism. My eyes don't look in the same plane and I don't know if the surgery could correc that.Comment
