Re: Off Topic 2015
The Astros are having a military appreciation thing during the 7th inning stretch today and I got selected for the Coast Guard representative. It's gonna be strange watching a baseball game in uniform especially since it's our "work" uniform. I normally try to avoid the public when I'm in uniform as it always makes be feel awkward.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

We were on the other side of the field so my wife didn't get any good pics but we did have a public affairs girl take some pics and I can post them once she puts them up.
They did briefly show it on tv. I recorded it and looked for it. So I guess I got 15 seconds of fame.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: Off Topic 2015
Bit of a moral/ethical dilemma....
Booking a vacation and got a hotel room booked up but one problem is the hotels "extra guest fee". It's a room with 2 beds, and 3-4 people will be staying there. If I mention that up to 4 people could be staying, it'd be like $100+ extra in the price compared to if I just entered that 2 people would be staying.
It's the same room with 2 beds, regardless if it's 2,3 or 4 people. So would things be fine if I just entered 2 people, and then did have 3 or 4 people staying? Would the hotel people even care/notice that someone who checked in to a room for 2 people is walking into the hotel with 4 people total(not during the actual check in moment, but like afterwards once the room key is gotten, everyone goes up to the room to leave stuff before heading out again. Or even just later in the day)?
Or if they do ask during day, would they even buy the (probably heard a million times) excuse of "They're not staying, just helping me get my stuff/visiting"? Cause not like they'd really know how many people are actually sleeping over in the night, right?Last edited by Majingir; 08-16-2015, 11:44 PM.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2015
Though with potentially hundreds of other guests in the hotel, I'd think/hope after checkin, they won't even remember who has how many people in their room so even if they see guests walking in with 3 other people, they won't be thinking "didn't you only book for 2 people"Comment

I think, by the way, the "extra guess fee" is crazy...as long as you don't violate the fire hazard (i.e. x people allowed in a certain closed area) and obviously don't do anything atrocious to the hotel, do as you want.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Why are more people checking in? To have 4 cards to the room?

The max occupancy of the room is 4-5 people,so booking for just 2 people and having 4 stay there doesn't break the max limit or anything. I'd understand if it's something like having 4 people in a room where 2 is the max, that'd be a problem, but this room is made to hold 4-5 people, but they charge extra for the 3rd,4th and 5th person for no reason at all other than to make money....Comment

Re: Off Topic 2015
I think my friend who I got hired at my company 3 years ago is getting fired this week. He made a mistake and lost a expensive piece of equipment then lied about it, he hasn't told any management yet and keeps lying on top of the lies he already told. I just talked to our branch manager and I think he expected me to defend him but I'm not gonna stick my neck out for him. I prefer not having my name anywhere near this.
For you young guys reading this: bad news does not age well. If you F up, own it and don't lie. He probably would have just gotten a verbal warning but now he's as good as gone.
