Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
This took me way too long in life to process (it wasn't just recently though either): the fact that Candyland is a non-strategic board game with a completely predetermined outcome.
It obviously has its charms and sense of competitiveness as you play, but it's funny how we cheer ourselves on for being... good at drawing the top card off the deck? Haha doesn't make it a worthless game at all, but I can't believe I didn't recognize that when I was younger.
At least in a game like Sorry!, you choose which pieces to move, how to split the 7 movement, whether you'd like to switch players and with whom on the 11, decide to bring someone out on a 1 or 2, etc. Definitely not a predetermined outcome and definitely a lot more "skill" involved.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
So it was funny, I told my students about this once (realizing it's a game without any concept of skill whatsoever), and when a student surprisingly asked what Candyland was, I brought up a Google image. Know what I noticed? The image that I found online didn't have Plumpy, but instead was replaced by some gingerbread lady or something. Upon further research, I dug into the fact that Plumpy was somehow... degrading to fat people or something. I can't really remember, but I thought: "That's so 2017 (or whatever year I discovered that)."Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I just noticed a bear engraved in the mountain of the Toblerone chocolate logo.
Also i never noticed there's a Hershey Kiss shape in the logo between the K and the I.Comment

Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
You SHOULDN'T feed bread to birds?
I never knew this. Apparently it doesn't really help them at all. Basically filling them up without them getting any nutritional value out of it.
I'm sure people have done this at home with leftover bread. Especially when weather is warmer. I've always done this with old bread(not stale). I break them up into small pieces and just throw it across the lawn. Let the birds take care of the rest and I wasted less food.Comment

I don't know when I first learned this, but I keep re-remembering lol:
Baseball strikeouts, the backwards K is when they're caught looking.
I don't think i made this connection for the longest time.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
So I'm moving, and just unplugged my PS4 Pro to prep for transport and dusted it off.
I just noticed that the bottom has eight of the teeniest little legs (not exactly rubber stoppers), but they are the face button shapes.
Here is a Google image result to explain what I'm talking about:

Yet another Hans Zimmer inspiration, perhaps?

Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
In the Toy Story franchise, most all of the kid toy owners have their names end in an "ee" sound.
Andy
Molly
Bonnie
Emily
Harmony
Amy
Daisy
Then there's Sid, Hannah, and Rajon. They don't fit in this mold quite as much, but Sid destroys toys, Rajon rejected the only one we ever saw him encounter, and Hannah is guilty by association being Sid's sister (let's just say it runs in the Phillips family), but she names her favorite doll "Janie" so at least she tried.
Even though all of the ones above didn't shed a positive light in every instance we saw them, there was a spark of love within them at at least one point in their lives, that I guess Pixar said: "Let's give the 'good kids' innocent-sounding names," mostly that end in -y or -ie I guess.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
