    Re: 2016 FITNESS CHALLENGE

My friend let me borrow the damn thing back in October, but I am finally starting P90X2 today. I'm pissed at myself that I went 2 months only working out probably 3 times a week on average, but I guess I have to start back at some point.

Ultimate goal is to complete 95% of the workouts for the next 6 weeks and be able to move around without being gassed for a kickball season that is starting up. I plan on doing 3 weeks of it normally, then incorporate sprinting and agility exercises the weeks leading up to the season.

I also plan on cutting my beer drinking down by 75%. Not saying I am an alcoholic, during the holiday season I probably consumed 4-5 heavy/dark beers a week.

For anyone who is doing a serious workout for the first time in a while, or ever. Read the words of the wise Tony Horton...

"Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was your body. Keep pushing play. Do what you can. Do your best and forget the rest. Get your mind right."

        IN

Got down to 222 for the wedding...then back up to 240 after too much time with family and just being a lazy bum.

Want to get to 215 as my ultimate goal by eating clean and working out hard.

          Re: 2016 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Last year I was 185 at this point, got down to a pretty lean 168 around October of 2015, holidays hit and boom I'm back near 185 to start 2016 lol.

Just ordered me a new set of meal prep containers from isolatorfitness.com, holidays are over, so I guess its time to get back at it.

Goal 1: Hit 170 by March (Should be easy enough)
Goal 2: Work on strength goals & distance runs
Goal 3: Don't fall off the horse come holiday season like this past year.

Pitfalls: I drank to much during the holiday season. Beer, good times with family/friends, and far to much time in front the PC didn't help. I'm Looking to avoid that this year.

            Re: 2016 FITNESS CHALLENGE

            Here we go.

            Wedding is August 7th.

I put on about 10lbs of a mixture of muscle/fat in the last 2-3 months of working out regularly. I didn't change my diet, just a lot of lifting. I weighed in at 206 this morning, I'm 5' 8" but fit my clothes a lot better than I did when I was 195-ish.

My goal now is to cut fat and keep muscle mass the same. I think, realistically, I need to get to 175. I'm hoping to get to 190 by March.

Cut out all drinks except water and the occasional hot tea. Will still work out regularly but incorporate more cardio.

Do you guys have any suggestions for good core work outs?

My love handles need to go, big time.

I'd say kettlebells, they are killer for the core.

^ Any specific work out from your experience? I've really struggled with that aspect. I've kind of transformed the outermost aspects of my body from legs to arms and chest. Struggling a lot with the midsection which I presume is the most difficult to transform.

My fitness goals for 2016 are to complete 144 workouts, get down to 12% body fat and max out at 250 lbs on the bench. I'm probably about 20% body fat right now maybe less. I'll have to officially get measured. Other than my goals are to maintain complete sobriety and cut down on the eating out habit.

                    I'm in.

Going to slowly ease out of the bad eating habits after the Holidays. Something that worked for me last time was alternating High Carb and Low Carb days, so I'll be doing that early on with whatever crap for the first week, then slowly adjusting as I go.

                    example:

                    Week 1 - junk accepted
                    Monday - high carb
                    Tuesday - low carb
                    Wednesday - high carb
                    Thursday - low carb
                    Friday - high carb
                    Saturday - Cheat day
                    Sunday - low carb

                    Week 2 - first transition
                    Monday - high carb
                    Tuesday - low carb
                    Wednesday - high carb
                    Thursday - low carb
                    Friday - high carb
                    Saturday - Cheat meal
                    Sunday - low carb

                    Week 3 - second transition
                    Monday - high carb
                    Tuesday - low carb
                    Wednesday - high carb
                    Thursday - low carb
                    Friday - high carb
                    Saturday - High carb
                    Sunday - low carb

                    Week 4 - full transition
                    Monday - high carb
                    Tuesday - low carb
                    Wednesday - high carb
                    Thursday - low carb
                    Friday - high carb
                    Saturday - low carb
                    Sunday - high carb

                    Week 5 - on plan
                    Monday - high carb
                    Tuesday - low carb
                    Wednesday - high carb
                    Thursday - low carb
                    Friday - high carb
                    Saturday - low carb
                    Sunday - high carb

                      Re: 2016 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Just looking to stay ahead of the young cubs at work.
I hit the gym as soon as I get into work and go for 1 1/2 hours.
I'm at 6 circuits right now....every other day and on my alternate days I do a concentration workout on one or two body parts....legs/shoulders-back/core(had to slow it up due to injury....I was down to 4 circuits, after having 8 as my norm)
It's a "long" circuit with 3 minutes of rest in between and I concentrate on form.
I'm combining using weight/bodyweight training and no rest as a cardio input.
I'm at 222.....and looking to shred it down to whatever in the next 5 months.

This is my more common circuit but I vary it up quite a bit and add in some medicine ball/kettleball work on my good days.

                      10 pullups(no kipping...slow and steady)
                      25 pushups(spider)
                      12 curls(straight....40 lbs dumbells)
                      25 pushups(regular or heart)
                      12 concentration curls(40 lbs)
                      25 sit ups
15 tri pull downs(120 lbs(1 less than the full rack)
15 shoulder press(50 lbs....this was my injury set back)
                      20 bent over rows(each arm)(60 lbs)
                      15 lat pulldowns(120 lbs)

(on good days......I add in 1 or more of the following)

                      farmers walk to fatigue
                      medicine ball throws to fatigue
cable rows(4 sets of whatever weight I can handle)
                      flys(ball or bench)

I also walk my 3 dogs for 1 1/2 hours each morning for some extra light cardio.

                      Ugh....leg day tomorrow.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE IN 2016!!!

I always gain a few pounds when I first change my diet to a weight loss one....ESPECIALLY if I'm working out as well.
Don't know why....just happens to me.
                              Then I begin the drop.
