Any of you guys flown out of Minneapolis-Saint Paul during the winter ? I just got back to Japan on Monday, but I'm planning on coming home for Christmas for the first time since 2012. I was going to wait, but I want to be home for my son's first Christmas. I
found a killer deal round trip for $950 w/ Japan Airlines, ANA, and Delta as the primary US Airline, but It's a different route than usual.


I've made the round trip 3 times, but It's usually through DFW, O'Hare, or ATL and then to Birmingham.

This time It's FUK - > HDN (Tokyo) -> MSP -> LaGuardia - > BHM.


I don't mind the extra flight really, but Is it a big gamble in the winter ? I have about 15 more hours to get a full refund. I read some information online and it seems that MSP gets a higher % of their flights out, even during the Winter months, than DFW. I was delayed close to 4 hours a few weeks ago in DFW on a clear fall night so I know it's not just a weather issue. Anyway.. thanks for any feedback if anyone has it.

Had a connection in MSP, but it was early May. No problems.

I'd take your chances. They're snow people up there, they can handle a little cold weather. Ha.

There's no airport in the continental US better equipped for snowfall than MSP. Anything but a full on blizzard (or mechanical issues) and you're taking off that night.

That and it's not as busy. I've flown out of there a lot, and I don't even remember a flight boarding later than 10-15 minutes after it was supposed to. Other than the one time my flight was cancelled because Duluth had thick fog.

From my quick stop there, it was pretty nice too. Maybe I'm just used to Philly's dingy nasty airport because almost every airport I've been to I've been impressed.

Hope nobody has to fly into Reagan or LaGuardia.

Might as well get comfortable and expect to be there awhile messing with those 2 Airports.

On the couple times where i've had to fly to NYC I always go to JFK.

Yea, pretty sure my wife goes through JFK as much as possible when she goes back overseas or to visit her sister in NYC. I don't think I've ever heard good things about LaGuarida.

La Guardia is the worst airport of all time. I'd take LAX over La Guardia.

Only time I ever got one I had to call every morning, but was never called in. I wouldn't have gone to trial anyway. I worked with a lady who was shot in her wrist by her son while she was sleeping. Since I knew the victim, I would have been immediately disqualified.

Twice I've been "on call" for 6 months at time. Once was during tax season. I managed to only get selected once and that trial was called off.
