Yeah, there just should be a better way to handle "closing". I totally get how someone getting paid crap wouldn't want someone showing up late. From a logical perspective though, "open" should mean "open" and not "get bodily fluids in my food cause some kid's pissed at me" lol

The movie "Waiting" has a great scene about all this...had the grill completely closed early and get screwed.

Re: The Death of Customer Service...

Each of the last 3 nights I worked (sit-down restauraunt) featured customers walking in the door 5 minutes before closing time - and staying around an hour afterward. Company policy says we have to serve them and there's no time that they HAVE to leave by.

The entire back of the house staff (save for the table's server) was able to finish their closing duties and leave even before the customers did. At that point anyone should realize how much of an inconvenience they're being.

I heard the server got tipped well on one of them, so there was that, at least.

Well, didn't know there was 1 option in town and that they closed at 6 (Walmart is my go to spot).
But I guess, I should have had them get it since it was THEIR project. Was attempting to help them out.

Re: The Death of Customer Service...

More evidence that customer service is dead. I buy a new phone (a Google Pixel if that matters to anyone) because I had my previous phone for well over 2 years and there are some scratches and the battery casing gets a bit toasty at times. Plus, it's no longer shiny and new. So I order the new one online and it's shipped on time with the SIM card already inside. I go to activate it and the thing wouldn't connect/activate and gave me a number to call.

I call the number and let the rep know that we were off to a bad start with this new phone, but the service rep seemed like it would be an easy fix. She asked for a couple of excessively long numbers off the phone's packaging and told me to hang up, turn both phones off (I had called her with my old phone...no landline...I'm not Amish), wait a couple of minutes, turn the new phone back on, go through the on-screen instructions, and that she would call me back and ask how things went. I wait a little bit, throw some treats at my dog, turn my new phone back on, and it works as intended. The rep calls me back as planned.

I tell her everything seems to be fine and she seemingly randomly mentioned something about a $15/mo credit that I had was going away as part of the "upgrade" and asked if I was aware of this. Apparently, when a previous contract expired and I went month-to-month, Verizon put a credit on my account without notice although I did see that the bill was suddenly cheaper. Anyhow, I ask her why the credit was going away and if it was possible to keep it. She puts me on hold to talk to her manager, 5 min or so elapse, and she comes back on saying I could keep the credit since it was grandfathered into my plan and they just converted it to a "device-payment credit" according to the new model of cell providers making you pay for your hardware unlike the olden days where they would give you phones freely for binding contracts.

To make a short story longer, it was about 30 min later and my new phone was active plus my monthly bill will be $15 less than it would've been had I not called in. What can we learn from this? For one, this post is about 65% longer than it has any right to be. Secondly, customer service is clearly dead. Or, maybe, by being a reasonable customer and getting the rep to work with me through mutual respect means that it's not dead....hmmmm....makes u think.

They were at the point of letting people out 1 at a time, locking the door behind each. The guy at the door pointed to his watch while I had my hands up outside. A guy at the register told him to let me come on in. I was in and out in less than 3 minutes.

            I didn't feel like a douche for 2 reasons: 1) It wasn't for me.
            2) I called ahead of time saying I would be there right at closing.

Heh. Did it feel like a bag of sand?

I feel like I am just lucky, I rarely, run into bad customer service. Sure I may get a fast food worker who does't like their job and isn't friendly or someone who is short with me, or a teenager who just doesn't care, but most issues, everything runs smoothly for me.

I'm getting fed up with Sirius. They are relentless with soliciting. How many times do I need to say no?

The script is bad too. They talk for a minute straight about you accepting the new contract.

After five days of no internet/TV, it's finally fixed. Now I have to fix the pricing.

There's a time to be cool about things. That time has passed about 3 cancelled appointments ago. Now it's time to go medieval on some AT&T ***.

LowerWolf, that sounds completely awful. What a joke that "service" is. The fact that you stayed home several times from work and they didn't show is blatant disrespect. On top of that they raise your bill?

Don't know if you can find an alternative provider, but I'd be looking for a way out from them ASAP.

                              Good luck, man!
