I didn't develop those skill until much later in life after I learned lessons like that.

      re: Off-Topic

I had an auto-renewing subscription to PC system mechanic that was linked to an old email address but ended up upgrading to the Professional version that also includes anti-virus/anti-spyware but linked it to a different email address. I forget exactly what happened, but I think I thought that the account information from the old version had simply been transferred to the new version and the old version would no longer auto-renew. At any rate, the email the old version account was connected to ended up being deactivated (Freaking Comcast, but that's a whole another story) and I didn't realize anything was amiss with my account until I got an unexpected deduction from my checking account that went to the company that made the software about 6 months after I upgraded. Like I said before, I thought the 1 year subscription to the Professional version would be tacked onto the remaining 6 months on my annual subscription to the basic version when I upgraded, but apparently this wasn't the case and the 2 subscriptions were separate. To complicate matters, since the email address linked to the old version was deactivated, I obviously never got any notices that my subscription would soon be auto-renewed. Fortunately after some communications with their customer services, I was able to get it straightened out and got my money back.

          re: Off-Topic

Got blood drawn earlier today and am slowly going to have results roll back out to me. I really did it for like cholesterol and glucose levels, etc.

Those haven't come in yet, but the two things that have already have to do with blood cell count, and my white blood cell count is below the standard range and my lymphocyte count is above the standard range. I don't want to freak out prematurely or anything, but one of the causes of that is linked with leukemia. Obviously we at OS will naturally have some trepidation entering a subject like that at this point in time, so I hope there is another reason for that which I haven't yet considered.

Nothing else really seems to fit, though. I'm always a healthy body and it says that it could be an indicator of somebody who is prone to a lot of infections and such, which I do not believe to be. I was perfectly in normal range twelve months ago when I got these things checked as well.

I'll wait for the doctor to analyze these, and of course I'm waiting for more test results as well (I hope they're fine), but I just had to go off the rails for a brief moment there. Maybe you all know something else that I don't that can calm my nerves here.

EDIT: Actually, I just found something here:

If you have neutropenia, you should avoid raw meat, eggs and fish, moldy or expired food, unwashed or moldy fruit and vegetables, and unpasteurized beverages, including fruit and vegetable juice, beer, milk, as well as unpasteurized honey. You do not need to avoid fresh fruit and vegetables, because this practice has not been shown to reduce the number of major infections (5). However, you should wash these foods thoroughly before you eat them.
Three things instantly come to mind:

          1) That damn breakfast burrito I ate last month that was left out of the fridge for about eight hours lol.

          2) I just had five steaks in five nights last week (bought them from Coscto). I eat them rare-to-medium-rare. I would hope that wouldn't completely trash my WBC though.

          2) I eat three large raw carrots every day. I rinse them down and hand-scrub them, but perhaps they have a lot of pesticides on them that I am not getting off. Maybe there is a better way I can go about doing this.

I hope the last one is actually the cause because there are easy remedies for that. Better than thinking it might be linked with leukemia, that's for sure.

I would say stop reading the internet and ignore the blood work until/unless you hear from your doctor. If you really can't sleep or wait, see if you can call your doc's office and have him go over the results with you. But there's no point working yourself up about it in any case.

Never go to doctor on Friday the 13th.

First I have my 6 month checkup with my kidney doctor to find that I have two stones in my right kidney. They are 5mm & 6mm in size. 50/50 chance they pass naturally.

Then I take my Dad to a follow up appointment with his heart doctor only for him to be admitted to the hospital due to too much fluid in his body.

                Rough day

Well, I'm not suggesting that the numbers indicate leukemia. I was just saying given what we experienced, that certainly raised my eyebrows.

But for my WBC to go from one number to what it is now, if it's the carrots, I certainly have to know about that. That is my own conjecture. My doctor wasn't in yesterday and won't be back in until Tuesday, so yeah it's kind of important for me to take my own actions there.

Thanks for the logical input, though. I know the ol' saying that if I go to WebMD, it's likely they would just tell me it's cancer.
