    re: Off-Topic

This could've gone in the Grinds thread as well, but here goes.

My ex-wife and I have been divorced for three years. We get along but only for the sake of our daughter... we're not friends by any means. Her family can all rot in hell, though. My wife and I have two sons, so total, I have three kids. My ex-wife's family does just about anything they can to make our lives difficult, be it scheduling, talking crap regularly to people we both know in common, making things terribly awkward at any event we happen to all be at for the sake of my daughter, etc.

Well, my sister is getting married in March... and she's just informed me that she is inviting my ex-wife and her whole family. My sister and my ex-wife aren't friends, and haven't spoken anything more than a Hello in at least a year. I expressed my displeasure with this being done, as the invitations haven't been sent yet, but I've been told they're getting one. My sister basically, but in many more words, told me to get over it. I have no doubt she's refusing to back away from doing so just to be a jerk now. And most likely, she is only half-thinking of sending an invite because they're loaded and she hopes they'll get her a gift. She can be vain like that.

How angry would you be in my shoes? Or am I wrong to feel angry?

      Off-Topic 2019

Angry? I don’t know. I’d be creeped the hell out. That’s weird as anything. Let me invite my brothers ex-wife.. AND her whole family. What!?

      Questions:

Are they wealthy? This is a big one since you mentioned being vain being a driving force. Weddings are expensive. Gotta recoup those lost dollars.

You said they haven’t spoken in a year and aren’t friends. You sure? She seems to be going out of her way to make you, her family, feel uncomfortable. We can’t seem to figure out the reason.

Your sister is either: lying, trying to maximize her presents (which after paying for everyone, I don’t see how that works out in her favor), or really dislikes you.

Does the wedding have to be really big? We couldn’t be over 120 but had to be over 100 so there was a weirdly small 20 person difference between the max cap and the min. Maybe she’s trying to assemble as many warm bodies in a space as possible. Discounts!

        Oh. Hell. No.

I would be very adamant about not going.

Found out today my Dad is going to have a pacemaker put in because his heartbeat is way too slow. He is consistently feeling winded/tired/weak due to slow rhythm.

There's either something more going on here (no reason to speculate really) or your sister just doesn't respect you as a person. I know my sis would never pull this kind of thing, especially if I told her that it was bothering me.

Just don't attend... you don't get to decide who you're blood related to, but you can decide who and what is worth your time.

                    re: Off-Topic

One of the strangest things happened to me overnight last night. And no it wasn't an alien abduction this time.

I woke up at 8am with intense eye pain and eye watering. I couldn't keep my eye open because the pain was so intense. But even closed it felt like sandpaper under my eyelid. I looked at in the mirror and it was blood red.

So I woke up my wife who works third shift and showed her and she said it was probably just pink eye. I'm like um no this is horrible. So she got up and we went to urgent care. They got me right in because they saw I could barely open my eye and saw how much pain I was in.

So the NP who was working decided to do a test on it. I can't remember what they called it, but they put dye in my eye and turned the lights out and shot a uv light into my eye and she was shocked to find a CUT in my cornea. Not a scratch, a cut. Right in the absolute middle of my eye.

I have no idea how this happened. No clue. I go to see an specialist tomorrow. She gave me numbing drops so the pain is much better. It was literally almost unbearable. So we'll see if this is something that can heal on its own or if I will need surgery.

And all this is coming off a tooth extraction two days ago. So basically my entire face is mangled.

Oh, and as far as sight goes. I'm basically legally blind in my right eye. I couldn't even read the E at the top of the letter chart. When I look at my laptop screen with just the bad eye it's complete blur.

Yeah, I feel like we're getting a very protagonist friendly recap of events.

Anyways, missing my sister's wedding because I didn't agree with everyone on the attendee list would be a non-starter for me. It's her day, her rules. I'll live.

^I would’ve showed up to the reception(only thing that matters at a Wedding anyways)and paid those folks no mind. Unless it’s impossible to ignore them, in which case I understand.

Nothing worse than your Girl/SO calling you to talk about whatever subject you don’t care about and you having to fake care about it.

It's not entirely relatable but I had similar issues with my eyes at the end of 2017. I've worn contacts every day, as soon as I wake up until I go to bed, for 15 years. I cannot see the big E either without corrective vision so my eyes are horrible. Over the span of like 2 weeks they kept getting dried out and annoying to the point I felt like I was constantly rubbing my eyes but I had to have my contacts because I couldn't see otherwise. I finally had enough when I realized I couldn't wear my contacts for 30 minutes without discomfort so I went to the eye doc and he said I had severely scratched corneas on both eyes and blisters on my eye lids (I may have been sleeping in them when I shouldn't have been).

He prescribed me eye drops to use twice a day for 2 weeks and to get glasses to wear and give my eyes a break/breather...it's been a year since and I don't have any issues at all. I just went to the eye doc the other week and he said my eyes are perfectly healthy now and there is no trace of any issues.

I hope everything turns out ok, man...issues with your eyes are no joke.

I have the hardest time with eye drops...even though I can put a plastic thing on my eye, I can't keep my eye open long enough for a drop of water to hit it.
