        re: Off-Topic

Long time, no post... but today was a tad bit fun from afar.

A neighboring agency arrested a juvenile for her direct involvement in a string of vehicle thefts. She was a large juvenile at that. Well, his two pair of handcuffs wouldn’t exactly bring her wrists together behind her back, so he cuffed her in the front. He places her in the back of his unit and walks across the parking lot at the auto dealership where she had wrecked the car, somewhat ironically. While he’s talking with his supervisor, she inevitably, somehow got her large self through the divider window into the front of his patrol unit and proceeded to drive the vehicle out of the parking lot and takes off for round two.

Now, on our end it’s just beautiful. There’s screaming over the air, there’s hard panting for some reason. We initially thought someone was hurt, but turns out, the officer was attempting to retrieve his fleeing unit ON FOOT. Fail. Big fail. They recovered the patrol unit a couple miles away but she was gone. Now keep in mind that she’s still handcuffed. They’ve got their all of their patrol out now, frantically looking for this juvenile and are, at this point, miles from the original arrest scene. Somehow, some way she gets a ride back to the original scene (the dealership) from a passerby or a friend (who knows) and someone from the dealership calls dispatch to let them know she’s there waiting to turn herself in... because she couldn’t get the handcuffs off.

She was so close. So close.

Damn, I was hoping the punchline could have been “she remains at large.”

reminds me of the episode of Live PD where the girl was cuffed in the back but wiggled her way around the cuffs and hopped to the front and stole the car, went on a GTA rampage, and when finally got caught said "I didn't want to go back to jail" and the officer responded "well you're definitely going back now"

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving...To everyone who will be shopping tonight/tomorrow. Please remember that we would much rather be with our families. If you tell me I’m ruining your Christmas because a product isn’t in stock, I’m going to tell you, you should have purchased it sooner then..

If it helps, I'm celebrating my Thanksgiving with family and friends on Saturday. That is the most convenient day for all of us (several people are actually working on this day, including my mom).

this is why I cant be allowed to work with the general public. I'd tell them it is in stock but it's too much trouble to dig it out of the stock room, cant you find something else you like instead. I wouldn't last a half day. too many people are morons and shouldn't be out walking amongst the normal people

I won’t go out on Thanksgiving to shop retail. It just feels wrong, but they’ve normalized places being open now that a lot of stores are. It’s sad to me.

Then again, a lot of folks don’t get paid time off for holidays, so forcing them to miss a day (and another 1 or 2 in December) is tough during this season.

Wish stores would decide independently. If you have a willing and able staff — go ahead. If you don’t, close it up. But unless it’s an independently owned store, the mandate to be open or closed comes from corporate. Bummer.

I've been trying to understand the point of this "Kings of Pain" show. It seems like two knuckleheads letting painful creatures bite and sting them. I don't really get it, but I'm sure there's a market for it.

My thoughts, though, eventually these guys are gonna bite each other, right? That's gotta be the season finale, they bite each other as hard as they can and whoever gives up first loses

Well, since years started at 1 and not 0 then the 1st decase of the CE calender would have been 1-10 so all decades end on a year that is a multiple of 10.

So 1990 counted as the 80s?

I disagree completely, especially since we get decimals within that year (months, weeks, days, whatever you want to say). I'm in the realm of understanding that the decade starts on the 0.
