Re: Off-Topic
Mint.com is closing and it's upsetting. I used that platform for 10+ years, it was absolutely great.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

This is from another sub-forum but I wanted to go off topic of Hot Stove baseball:Originally posted by MajingirFox as part of their 2023 in memoriam listed that Frank Thomas died.
Which was a surprise to Frank Thomas himself who is alive and well.
Turns out former MLB all star Frank Thomas did die...it just wasn't THAT Frank Thomas, it was the other Frank Thomas, the former Pirates player from the 50s.T-BONE.

Re: Off-Topic
This is from another sub-forum but I wanted to go off topic of Hot Stove baseball:What's crazy is the White Sox Frank Thomas who played for Auburn wasn't the original greatest Frank Thomas in the state of Alabama. The College Football Hall of Fame coach Frank Thomas is the third greatest coach at Alabama behind only Saban and Bear Bryant. A little background on Bama's Thomas. He played QB at Notre Dame for Knute Rockne, roommate with the Gipper in the 1920's. Went on to coach Alabama's transition into the newly formed SEC in 1933 and was responsible for bringing Bear Bryant from Arkansas to play for Bama. Largely forgotten now, I often wonder if he would have been remembered better if not for Auburn/White Sox Frank Thomas or if his name had been Thomas Frank.
Imagine another Michael Jordan in basketball.
Funny enough, hockey of all sports has guys with the same name playing at the same time which is crazier given how uncommon many names are (there's 2 guys named Elias Pettersson in the same organization in the NHL! I'm waiting for the day they're both on the same main roster or even same line)Comment

Reminds me of the old ESPN commercial with the white guy named Michael Jordan.
Edit: I'll post it.

Re: Off-Topic
Won't be long before we have a LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony or Michael Jordan in the league. Not uncommon last names at all, and you know there's bound to be big enough basketball fans with those same last names who just name their kid after the player.

Christmas and New Years over.
Now the next thing to look forward to...March.
Once the time changes in March and weather gets warmer, that's when things look "brighter" (no pun intended).
Seems like each year there's less and less snow in December, but January and February often make up for it.Comment

Re: Off-Topic
Agree, it seems like it's this mad dash to the end-of-year holidays, where you can take a breath, but then they come and go so quickly, and then it's a struggle to find something to look forward to until the spring/summer. So I'm just gonna have to hang in there for the next few months...
January-February is dull, dark, cold, snowy
March-April starts getting brighter and warmer (and sports wise you have Spring Training and playoff races)
May-June is the nice parts when it's not too cool or hot and it's peak brightness outdoors
July-August being summer which is always good
September-mid October summer is over and days slowly get darker and cooler but at least you have baseball playoff races + other sports returning
Late October-December sports are fully back, you have all the big holidays jammed in a few months spanComment

My baby sister got married this past November, and they just released pictures. Here are a few below:
Spoiler
For those who know (or don't) that our dad passed back in 2014, she asked that I walk her down the aisle, have the first speech, and dance with her.
