What's funny is she texted us a month before the wedding and said "Try and keep your speech at three minutes, four minutes max." Mine probably went a tick over four minutes, but the next two speeches (my older sister's and the best man's) each seemingly went about 8-10 minutes. Had I known they were going to be longer, I would've stretched mine to the five minute mark because I had a lot more gold to offer.

Either way, I don't know if it was because of my succinctness or my material, but I got nothing but praise and compliments about my speech afterward. Some said it was the moment of the night, others said they were both laughing and/or crying (kind of like how my sister is in that one shot), and I'm sitting here thinking I wish I had gone just a bit longer. Maybe it would've hurt it, I don't know.

One of the many "current/future technology is scary" moments..

Seeing ads on tv for cars that don't need keys. I know many modern ones don't need the key in the ignition, just the key in the car is enough (similar with unlocking cars, just the key a step or two away from the door can unlock it), but you also have cars with digital keys?!

      The ad was basically
"Hey, you're not home but I need to use the car"

"Sure thing, let me send you my key"

And they just transfer the key through their phone.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd prefer cars with less features. Just give me something that drives/doesn't break down, and has a GPS on it. Don't care for so much of this new tech on cars.

I hate that my manual can't do a rolling start when the battery dies, because it has an electronic break that won't disengage when dead. So much for one of the benefits of owning a manual!

Wait until the day it's filled with ads and subscription services.

"You're out of milk. Here's a list of 5 brands we suggest you try."

And "Sorry, your fridge isn't compatible with this brand of juice. Please remove it or subscribe to our premium subscription for $4.99 a month which gives you access to storing any brand of drinks you want" and "Sorry, you've been locked out of your fridge for opening it too many times. Would you like to add on unlimited door openings for just $2.99 a month?"

Obviously I'm joking....until this becomes a partial reality.

A few weeks ago, I was walking my dog and this medium-sized dog, maybe 35 pounds, appears at the top of a six-foot privacy fence and barks at us. I assume there's a woodpile or something in his backyard that he's standing on.

Walked past there today and again he appears at the top of fence. Except then he jumps over the fence and comes out into the street barking at us. I'm surprised he didn't break a leg on the landing.

After a few minutes, he heads back to the fence, jumps up, grabs the top with his paws and pulls himself back over. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I'd never believe it. One of the craziest things I've ever seen. Definitely grabbing my phone if it happens again.

He did it again today. He waited until we had gone down the street to jump back over, but I’m going to get a video one day.

There are some ****ty pet owners behind my mom's house. They let them bark non-stop and leave them out in horrible weather.

If I didn't love animals I would just put a bullet in them.

It's not the dog's fault but damn.

A lot of people don't even know how to treat other human beings, so they sure as hell don't know how to treat animals. The type of people who just kind of passively own animals, as opposed to actively taking care of them. Those are the lame ones. Extra selfish.

Was listening to a local podcast and they were discussing demographic changes in PR and how old people rag young people for "not having kids and being on Instagram all day and having dogs and cats".

And one of the host said how having a dog/cat isn't cheap either, and I quickly retorted in my mind "if you treat them well". Not everyone does.

My dog died last year and loved him, but I feel I probably won't be having a pet ever again. Dog, cat, fish, turtle, just no.

It isn't the money, it is the responsibility, these aren't "things", you have to take care of them, they depend on you and I'm just too lazy. Barely can take care of myself
