Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
Are these values a percentage of the total demographics or based on the the number of covid cases in those population? I'm guessing it's the former as they are much lower than the graphic you had a few days ago, but it's important to note the distinction.Using the CDC's numbers, here are some statistics.

0.011% of the US population under 65 have died of COVID
0.005% of the US population under 55 have died of COVID
0.0009% of the US population under 35 have died of COVID
0.0002% of the US population under 25 have died of COVID
0.00008% of the US population under 15 have died of COVID
---
0.23% of the US population over 65 have died of COVID
They are the former. You are correct.
The CDC updated their testing guidelines today. A big change is they no longer recommend testing of asymptomatic individuals even post exposure except for in very specific situations such as being a LTC worker.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
The nursing home that my grandmother is in has a second outbreak at her nursing home and it's worse than the 1st outbreak.
She has tested negative, but there are so far 11 employees and two residents that tested positive. I know the first resident is recovering in the hospital.
A good friend of mine's mom tested positive yesterday. They are testing again today to hope and pray for a false positive result.
Speculation is that this more than likely came from a employee as all residents have been under lock down.Last edited by roadman; 08-24-2020, 12:50 PM.Comment

Yep, good find.
Our daughter wanted to arrange a appointment with her doctor because she had a sore throat, drainage and she wanted to be tested for strep throat.
The doctors office told her she needs to take the test before she steps into the office because they said those were symtems.
We felt like she didn't have it and she tested negative.Comment

Yes, it's become standard across the nation it seems to get tested before your doctor will even see you. Maybe these guideline changes will have an impact on that. I'm personally glad the CDC changed their guidelines. It's a bit of funny timing that I made my post about it a day or two ago and here we are seeing the CDC recommending what I was hoping for.Yep, good find.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
This would piss me off to no end. I hope anyone affected sues them and at minimum they should refund all fees paid. You can't let the staff leave and expect them to remain safe. You probably aren't paying these people a lot, so they may have other jobs, can't isolate, etc. They need to pay them to stay on site and work in shifts. What did they expect letting the only people they come in contact with every day go home while they are forced to stay in isolation. The nursing home that my grandmother is in has a second outbreak at her nursing home and it's worse than the 1st outbreak.

I hope everything is good for your family.

566 cases of coronavirus reported at University of Alabama in less than a week.

So basically 566 students brought it with them since it usually takes 4-5 days to test positive.566 cases of coronavirus reported at University of Alabama in less than a week.

This was to be expected. Hopefully the students had mild cases and didn't really know they had it. Traveling to college while sick would have been really stupid, but wouldn't put it past them.

Is this forum rolling with the notion that asymptomatic people are not contagious? That seems odd.Comment

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
That is what the CDC is saying. I'm not sure what the truth is as 1st they said those were the potential super spreaders but now they are saying they can't really spread it.
