I can honestly say I’ve made fewer than 20 posts since the switch, which was what, about six months ago?
It just sucks that the site I’ve been visiting for 15 years is now something I barely even think about anymore.
Honestly, I think I would’ve preferred the old forum being on “borrowed time,” with the risk of a crash, over seeing this place slow down and fade away like this. It just makes me nostalgic for how things used to be on OS. This doesn’t feel like OS anymore.

Thanks for the new app!
Going to wait until there are features that help jump to the last post immediately, show what is the newest topic at the root level (and who posted it), etc. But now you guys can evolve it over time, which is a good start.
I noticed in the drop-down menu that DELETE ACCOUNT is scarily staring me in the face haha, I hope I don't accidentally thumb over that option somehow!👍 3Leave a comment:

I promise I'm not trying to be a jerk, I have no doubt a lot of work has gone into - and I'm sure continues to go into - the new site. But we're nearly six months into this and it's just ... depressing. Seems like most of the feedback that has been provided to make the site more user friendly has gone unaddressed. There seems to be no sense of urgency at all. Meanwhile, if you look around, the forums are all but dead. I fear it may be too late for OS at this point.
The NFL forum used to be one of the most active. I can remember a time when each game had its own thread each week. And those threads often had multiple pages of posts. The NFL forum now? Week 6 kicks off in a couple of days; there is a single Week 3 thread with two posts in it. It's just sad.
I know message boards aren't as popular as they once were. I know people were leaving the site before the upgrade. But, man, the upgrade really feels like the final nail in the coffin to me. As a longtime OSer, it's just depressing to see where the site is now.I completely understand where you’re coming from and I want you to know I truly share the frustration. The slowdown and overall experience since the new forums launched have been tough on everyone, myself included. I’ve personally sent out multiple updates, answered emails and helped troubleshoot login and performance issues reported here, on Twitter and now in the new Discord.
I echo this completely. I'm not going to sit here and front like these forums were a non-stop party before but this re-design has been an awful experience. The thing is, I want the OS forums to work and be functional because I have long enjoyed being a part of the community. And I know we can sit here and riff on how Discord is the new wave or whatever else but the fact of the matter is that the current forum redesign situation is actively driving people away and I can't really blame them.
I honestly just want to get back to being able to load up a sensible page design and engage in discussions with good folks. Would be a shame to let that die.
I know how important these forums have been to so many people over the years. The truth is, the old system was on borrowed time. If we hadn’t upgraded, we risked losing everything when it inevitably crashed. I hate that the transition caused so much disruption, but it was something that had to be done to keep the community and its history intact.
I’ve done everything I can to address each issue that’s come up, but right now we only have one person handling the long list of fixes. It’s slower than anyone would like and I wish there was a faster way to get it all where it needs to be.
Believe me, I know how much life these forums used to have and it’s painful to see that activity drop off. I care about this place and the people here more than you probably realize. I’m still here every day, doing what I can to get things back to a better place, even if progress feels slower than it should.🥰 7👍 3Leave a comment:

Yeah, I have that keep on popping up in my dynasty posts and it’s really annoying. Also, HTML doesn’t seem to work as good as it used to, so I dropped that as it was too annoying to deal with.👍 1 -
Thanks for explaining. Doesn't do it for my name for some reason. It'd be nice if I could unlink it, but it seems like the hyperlink keeps getting re-added. -
It's not just OS. ads are becoming more and more pervasive, intrusive, and altogether annoying all across the internet.Lets call a Spade a Spade here. I have been a member for like 30 years and it is straight unreal how different it is and how MANY ADS pop up on every different click. I get that everyone needs to make their cash, but this is not the OS I use to come to almost every day in the past.,
Seems to be user tagging of some sort. 8 is a user and you notice the threads were all started by that userWhenever I put a pound sign followed by the number 8, the forums turn it into a URL to this subforum: https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/8
8
Not sure why it does it. It does not do that with other numbers.

Edit: It seems to go to blog posts made by that user. And a popup just popped up while I was typing this edit

No reason to apologize Steve, I was just curious. I understand this was, and still is, a big project that is going to take time to get fully implemented. I was curious if the original theme/skin was on the list to return.
Things are coming together on the backend. It is on the list of to do's. I'm very sorry it hasn't been implemented yet, but we are working to get there. I know I sound like a broken record, but we have 1 person that handles multiple sites and some things take a higher priority.
I appreciate the work being put forth to keep the site running so that this community can continue to interact with one another.

there's another thing you could dust off, it generated too much traffic at the time, but now...Well, it appears username colors are now showing up in the various places where it shows the last user to post in a thread.
And it's also now showing up in the member list which means that I guess it's time to dust off the dirty dozen thread.
