    August/September 2014 Update

Matt10's Community Sliders/Krebstar's Custom Team Tactics

Goal: Reach Round of 32 - Completed (League Cup)
Goal: Achieve automatic promotion from League 1.

Why Preston North End? I searched for a long time to find a club that could keep my interest. I really enjoy playing with lower league sides, once taking Le Havre to the Champions League over six seasons and last year taking Derby to the premiership. PNE is a sleeping giant according to a few websites and has some clean unis. I created a youth prospect (62 overall ST) to be my son on the squad. I'm having a blasty and this one may have some staying power. (I'm a chronic CM restarter)

    Record:
League 1: Currently in 1st on 17 points (5 wins, 2 draws) through 7 rounds
    Capital One Cup:
    W (3-2) over Wycombe Wanderers
    W (2-1) over Crawley Town
3rd Round (Round of 32) against Coventry City

I normally just leave my prospects in the youth academy until I get the email that they are ready to be promoted, then I immediately sign them to the senior squad.
Not only that but its good to read the emails anyway, things like players asking you to look at wages. If you miss that email, they end up growing unhappy and eventually leave if you continue to put it off.

I'm using Orion's sliders from the sliders forum with minor adjustments to them since I'm using them on Legendary.

About to start up my 2nd go at a CM with Arsenal. I got through mid-December last time, and with this being my first time EVER playing FIFA, I have a lot to learn re: scouting.

I'd like a bit of advice on who you guys think I should go after to help sure up Arsenal's defense, as they only have 2 CB on the entire roster.

Two guys that I know little about--but intrigue me are Marquinhos (PSG) and Ginter (BVB). Any input on either of them? Or also would love suggestions on other young/promising CB that I can go after in the first transfer (Jan) window?

          Thanks guys!

Defense and cb particularly....Varane (real madrid cb) young, talented gets his head on the ball from corners. I love using him at pool and doesnt cost a fortune.
john anthony brooks cb, talented young not expensive either maybe as a reserve or to be loaned out.
Sakho cb liverpool plays particularly well for me on liverpool. getting older tho.
kurt zouma cb chelsea, young good potential
aymeric laport cb atletic bilbao, good potential youngster

Also, wanted to say fellas I enjoyed the lively discussion about youth scouting and also that Fifa youth scouting tips website because there were some really good reads on there that I'm definitely going to have to take into account in my career!

I like to use the SOFIFA site to look through players at the position I need before a transfer window. For example, you could search for all CBs under 22, then sort by attributes you want, such as potential. I would pick a few, have them scouted before the transfer window, then go after the one that you like the most that fits your budget.

First time ever playing a fifa 15 and fifa in general. I wanted to start with a team thats not too bad but also not amazing. So i started with VW wolfsburg and i was doing good but i saw a job offer with Paris saint germain who were struggling badly and were also filthy rich at the time and i would be the hero who brought them back! so i took the job and in my second transfer window i shipped cavani to man united. and i bought wayne rooney because ibrahmovic was getting old. also bought yaya toure who is pretty good for his age and i want to win it all. seems really unrealistic but since this is my first expereince i am enjoying it!

Re: *The FIFA 15 Manager Mode Thread*

Still going strong with Leyton Orient, said no to a heap of coaching jobs, Arsenal are dying to get me they have asked 3 times now.

My aim is to keep it up with Leyton Orient until the final season ends.

One of my youth call ups is going strong Kalla is his name, CAM he's only 72 overall but plays like he's 82. So much so i cant even fit Gauld into my team lineup.

Tielemans and Boazer are doing well and Henriksen. Januzaj cost me a fortune but i wanted a player in my team hitting an overall of 80+ so now i have 2 of them, him and my CB Diego Reyes.

Bought in Sierra upfront cos of injuries in attack, and thought what the hell, and bought Aston Villa's Weimann.

Money has been tight so i asked for funds from the club, they gave me 6million but in return i have to come in the top 3 to qualify for the Champs League.

I have alot of dead weight at the club in squad numbers so end of season im going to try and make a heap of trades and clear out as many players as i can that i dont use, thats about 7 that i can think of atleast.

Had some youth i hadnt signed snapped up by rival clubs but thats ok, i sign to the youth squad the ones i want to keep. Ill see how they fair after the season.

Often i check on many of the bigger name players that asked to leave my club and see how they are doing at other clubs, Isco is still at Newcastle United of all places and looks to be a mid table obscurity. My made up player of myself was sold to Bayern Munic at only age 18, i did make him a star player. So Bayern just sold me to Barca. Gotze is still at PSG tho no idea how he's going.

Thats it for now, 2nd in the league with 8 games to go. Euro Cup im doing well after beating Inter and Spartak Moscow in the knockout stages so far. Its Besiktas next.

How are you guys dealing with the getting fired right after moving to another club? Did it happened to you?

there´s a bug if you go to another club before the end of the season. You are then evaluated as the former manager, wich leads to loosing the job. I did applied for that club so, does it happen also when we are invited instead?

I know I'm not answering your specific question, but the Everton Board was trying to fire me last night with just a couple of matches left in my first season. We were in 5th, battling for the 4th spot in the PL. They couldn't even wait to see if we met our goal of qualifying for the Champions League, or not. I restarted a game save a bunch of times, before they finally cut me some slack and supported me. We wound up 3rd. I feel like telling them to take this job and shove it! There's been plenty of discussion on this subject, but they need to fix the Manager firing problem. As some have suggested, we should just be able to turn it off. I have made some nice transfers and built up some very promising youth in the academy. I would hate to start over.

                            Team: Portsmouth
                            League: Football League 2
Objective: Finish Mid Table/Round of 32
Difficulty: World Class, FIFA OS Community Sliders

It took about a week of playing around but I finally started a CM and thank God I'm back on PC this year. It took a few days to figure out the db and how to make edits but I installed a patch that makes transfers more realistic, improves youth academy growth, and thankfully reveals OVRs and stats for everybody so the GTN can kiss my ***, among other things (shout out to Beta990). Now when I scout I can immediately see a players stats so I can sift through the crap and get to the players that matter.

I'm into my 2nd season with Portsmouth, having accomplished my objective of winning the league in the first season. To start the career I edited Agyemang to 88, sold him for $10M, and bought a 4/5 scout. I picked up 29 y/o, Free Agent ST Juan Carlos Arce, and put the rest of my money into the youth academy. In May I promoted 3 players; a LM, CM, & LB (mispositioned ST I think). I still have about 7 players in the academy, no world beaters but once they're old enough to be promoted I'll be able to use 2 or 3 of them to build my squad and the rest should sell for around $2M each.

The board gave me $1.3M for transfers & $6k for wages so things are gonna be tight. Luckily that youth LB is good enough to start because Nicky Shorrey is old and slow. I picked up CB Ismael Traore from Stade Brestois for $400k to replace an aged and very slow Ben Chorley. He's not a long term replacement but he's got more pace than Ben and should hold me over til next season. I'm thinking I may sell my youth CM come January. He came in at 71 OVR so he should be worth a few dollars, which I could certainly use.

Two games into the season I'm in 5th with 4 points. I beat Carlisle, who was also promoted, 2-1 in the first game and tied Leyton Orient 3-3 in the 2nd. In the Orient game I went up 2-0 in the first 10 mins on back-to-back goals and thought to myself, "Well, that does it for this game." The AI must have heard me because they did the same and tied it 2-2. It stayed that way until about the 70th minute when they went up 3-2. No matter what I did I couldn't break them down and I thought I was going to lose until they give up a corner in the 90th. I suck at Crossing so I always pass it short. I get into the box and try to body feint a defender who slides in and gives me a penalty. Suffice it to say I convert it and save myself from a loss. Sick game.

It's worth noting that in addition to saving time in scouting, having players' attributes revealed adds a tactical element of preparation to my career. Now I'll actually do the press conference to see what kind of opposition I'll be facing and I'll decide which team sheet I'll use based on that. Last year I would always use my starters but now if I'm facing a weak team I'll give my youngsters and subs some play time.

Yeah trust me, it killed the game for me. It might seem a bit extreme, but damn, how the hell can I play a full season and then not know i my efforts will pay off, if I´m forced to keep with the same team just to avoid the risk of getting sacked if I choose another club. For me manager mode was all about that. Building a somewhat weak side, improve it and win the board confidence for a year or two, and if the oportunity shows, change to a bigger/better team and so on... Well this way its not possible... Its a pretty basic thing in a career...
