First post here in this years thread. Im not really good at maintaining updates in these threads but just began my 2nd season with Liverpool so I shall inform how the first season went and some moves I made in the Summer.
1st Season: Big season for Liverpool. After narrowly missing out on the 2013/2014 Championship and the deaprture of the Luis Suarez prior to the 2014/2015 Season it looked as it the title window had closed once again on Liverpool. With a number of new signings the most notable being Italian striker Mario Balotelli Liverpool tried to bolster its attack to fill the void left by Suarez. Despite a lot of criticism about the team going into the season the team went on to prove the critics wrong. Liverpool returned to form not seen since the 1980s with a number of successes during the season. The team ended its 25 year drought and won its first league title since 1990 and first of the EPL era putting to bed the demons of the 2013/2014 season as well as a few other runner up finishes over the years. The team was bolstered by the key paternership of Daniel Sturridge who despite a 3 month layoff due to injury early in the season came out firing on all clynders during the remaining portion of the season ending up with 25 goals to finish 2nd behind only his partner in crime Mario Balotelli with 31 golas who won the Golden Boot and Player of the Year awards. In the realm of Europe Liverpool had an uneventful stint in the Champions League the highlght being a 6-3 win over Real Madrid but failed to qualify for the Round of 16. Liverpool then went onto the Europa League which saw the clubs first European success since the famous 2005 Champions League win beating Schalke 04 in the final. In other competitions Liverpool saw wins in both the Capital One Cup and FA Cups. Other notable players for the club during the year were Captain Steven Gerrard,Raheem Steerling,Philipe Couthino.
2nd Season: After a highly successful 14/15 campagin, Liverpool shocked the footballing world selling star striker Mario Balotelli to German superclum FC Bayern for a fee of $71,500,000 making a $55,000,000 profit on the $16,000,000 signing the prior year. Following the sale of Balotelli, Liverpool targeted a CAM to play behind Sturridge and Steerling. Liverpool aquired Mario Gotze for a sum of $96,500,000. The team also sold 1st string Goalkeeper Simon Mingolet for $28,300,000 to FC Barcelona allowing up and coming keeper Scuffet to become the teams 1st choice keeper going forward. Mingolet had a very strong 14/15 season leading the EPL in clean sheets. In a move of future planning Liverpool signed William Carvalho to replace captain Steve Gerrard at CDM position ahead of Gerrards retirment following the 15/16 season. In the UEFA Super Cup Liverpool matched up with Champions League Winners FC Bayern. Added to the dynamic was both Marios matching up against former clubs Balotelli against Liverpool and Gotze against Bayern. A thrilling contest ensued with the score tied 1-1 after the first 90 minutes. Extra Time was required. Liverpool led 3-1 with 2 minutes to play. FC Bayern scored 2 quick goals one of which scored by former Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli who equalized the game at 3-3. The was turned on its head once again in injury time when Liverpool was awarded a penalty which resulted in Steven Gerrard scoring and a 4-3 win for Liverpool.
