It will 100% be free. They're not going to charge for content that will be 99% designed for FUT. Offline we will get a tournament mode, which isn't worth $.

Re: World Cup game in 2018?
Downloadable expansion does not have to be a bad idea, or does it?. We know EA often they choose the fast way, especially when it comes to money. What else can you expect from a software company whose purpose is to constantly increase revenue. Downloadable expansion what does it contain ?. Clearly all countries, stadiums ?, at least some everything else would be embarrassing if it's about, yes - World Cup. New game with new code, in our dreams, and this is the time factor relative to a standalone becomes clear. Unless they have made it top secret for several years, I do not think we should expect it but all in all, it may also be ok if just the expectations are far from too high, and that's one thing all EA users should learn as the first filing - expect nothing, enjoy the positive.Comment

Re: World Cup game in 2018?
April 10 and still not a peep that I have seen from EA.
Bad marketing? Smart marketing?
Seems pretty gutsy to me that they have had no marketing campaign at all whether it is a DLC add-on or standalone game.
I just wonder what their plan is.Comment

Re: World Cup game in 2018?
We do not need to tell EA the importance of putting the advertising machine on full steam when launching a new product. Therefore this thread and everywhere else wondering about missing information ?. That's why I agree with Dubcity about a "free" product. Perhaps the way they launch will also be seen in relation to their huge mistakes with Battlefront, so I find it hard to see a way they release the game as a demo and if we want more it costs (microtransactions). On the other hand, they could be so naughty and try again, they certainly have not abandoned the earnings method, that's for sure. You're right EA gives nothing for free unless they can earn from it. I fear it will be a test for the way to pay ahead (in the sense how many downloading the add on), online and online only. (microtransactions). If you ask yourself, does it mean something that the product can only be bought online at EA?, YES !, It does because the control is 110% at EA in everything compared to the game, no Einstein is required to figure it out thats what they wants and I'm convinced we still buy it.Last edited by andanesean; 04-11-2018, 12:58 PM.Comment

Yes, let's see. But make no mistake they are doing nothing without economic ulterior motive. I expect something clumsy in the style of "this is for soccer fans".Comment

...that I have more than difficult to believe.
But if this would be their motive is because Trump has become the chairman of EA`s board.Comment

was wondering that too but FIFA sells so well internationally, that it should not matter too much....Comment

Re: World Cup game in 2018?
I live in the USA and I honestly doubt that EA wouldn’t release a World Cup game or dlc or whatever simply because USA isn’t in it. FIFA is a global game and the success or lack there of the USA doesn’t make or break the success of the game. Besides, the USA men’s have never won a World Cup and their best finish was 3rd in 1930. So the USA not being in the World Cup isn’t the reason.

Re: World Cup game in 2018?
I mean, North America accounts for like 20% of total FIFA 18 retail sales. They're not going to stop development of a game because one country doesn't qualify for the WC. They were never going to develop a standalone game in the first place.Comment

just weird how EA isn't promoting "new" or "exclusive" features for the game or even a teaser video or something....you would think something would have leaked by now. lol.Comment
