Particularly when all they want to do is shove negativity down your throat. All that happens is you go in thinking it's a crap game and that alters your opinion. Anything bad stands out more, anything good is brushed aside because you're seeing red. As most of these guys are. My suggestion: Get EA Access. It's $5.

Most people here are unhappy about about PES too so I don't think that argument holds weight.

The game does things well and other things poorly. People have expressed the things they don't like. Instead of shooting them down why don't you heed some of your own advice and post the good things you're experiencing?

Here's what Neil deGrasse Tyson has to say about human testimony:
No matter what eyewitness testimony is in the court of law, it is the lowest form of evidence in the court of science.
Important to remember as we read reviews.

Exactly! People are unhappy with both games from what we can tell here and in other forums. The general consensus regarding FIFA is that the EA Acess version is worse all around than the demo, and no matter how much positivism we inject on it, it won´t make the problems go away.

Now, pointing the problems, that may actually get something done, altough as we know chances are slim too. But if we praise only, the chances are zero of something changing.

My first game was enjoyable , 1-2 loss at Galaxy, I was Orlando City. 10 min periods, default pro. Semi assists. Game was fun, pass accuracy needs to be toned down. no crazy amounts of shots. Not many fouls another concern.

No, it's the "general population of OS impression threads" that is negative and says it's worse, which it isn't. This is true along nearly every game is released here. My best advice is to take impressions with huge grain of salt around here. I don't remember last time I saw really any positivity in an impressions thread.

Having said that, I'm not getting much different results from the demo to EA Access version. Both play very similar, and I'm quite pleased with 18 as compared to last years version. My only complaint is passing accuracy across the board (and this is true in PES as well) is just too high and not many mistakes are made, but I am seeing them from the AI on occasion. It just seems like a tough thing to emulate for devs. Also, fouls. I don't think I've played enough games to get a general idea as to how this is going to be long term, but like in PES, just too few, but to be fair, I have seen more fouls both by me and the AI than I do in PES, for sure.

Also, those claiming game is too easy, getting too many shots, AI shooting too much, etc....I am not seeing anything at all like that, and I question whether you're even playing this game.

Thanks for the fair assessment. I usually weed out the hyperbolic reactions and try to zero in. I play NBA 2k and MLB The Show every year and have a blast, yet everyone on the forums can't stop yapping how bad they are and how literally everything is broken.

I'm looking into trying FIFA this year and was impressed with the demo. I don't know much about soccer stats or flow but I imagine it's tough to program AI for all the players and all the teams. If I'm correct, FIFA has by far the most licenses than any other sports games. The game played well in the demo and the presentation was tip notch. Maybe it's catered for guys like me I tried PES and while I loved the player animations and the ball physics better, it felt and looked dated and bare bones.

Anyway, I'm still sorting through videos and impressions to get pros and cons, so thanks for the even keel response.

So far, pros seem to be licences, frostbite, presentation, visuals, fun games.

Cons seem to be no penalties, no team differentiation, speed too fast even on slow setting, and some ping pong passing (sliders help??).

Re: FIFA 18 trial is available now for EA Access subscribers

About two hours into my pc early access. Some thoughts so far.

First hour I was playing on default sliders, slow speed. I started a Madrid career mode on world class. The first preseason game was against the Chicago fire. I set their tactics to counter attack, mine to high press, possession.

Frustrating game to say the least, everything was ping pongy, constant attack, no time to breathe or anything. If the scoreboard wasn't there you would've thought it was Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid. Chicago was passing out the back under pressure with 100% accuracy. I quit around the 20th minute after they scored from 5 one touch passes around the box.

Next day, out of curiosity, I plugged in Matt10's fifa 17 sliders, and restarted the same game. This time, the game played so much better I cant even explain how different.

Right from the opening kickoff, cpu passed it back to their CB, who then hit a long ball up to the corner flag, where my rb, and their lw battled for it as it went out of bounds. That alone almost made me cry tears of joy. My high press caused so many missed passes by them, and also caused them to hit long balls up to their ST, who lost many headers to my CB's. This caused the game to end with their pass % around 65, and mine around 80. Most fun ive had with this game in a while.

Just saying dont give up hope on this game lol. On default, I can attest, this game is hot garbage. But with some tinkering, I believe that this game is capable of some good things

Sorry for the noob question, but any Early Access for FIFA is strictly Xbox and PC, correct?

You are a in very, very short minority if you don´t see many differences between this and the demo. Just read Don Jon review above, the default sliders game, that is what most people are getting from the game. You don´t? Great! But you are in the minority with your impressions...

Yeah, I doubt that, but ok. Here's the thing, people that generally are very happy with something don't usually run to the forums to complain. That's why we see overwhelmingly negative reviews here and complaints. I did read Don Jons impressions, and I see it differently than him. He says it's "hot garbage" on default...sorry, but that's laughable. It's not garbage out of the box, and sliders don't magically make it so much better if it's already "hot garbage."

Sorry, but this and the demo are not night and day differences.

Re: FIFA 18 trial is available now for EA Access subscribers

I'm going to post my thoughts on my first 3 games. I'm not going to continue with the pointless banter of: too negative/ terrible game/ your dumb/ etc, etc.

I started a career at Southampton. 10 min halves, default sliders, world class, default team sheet sliders, semi or assisted passing (how ever it starts out as default).
                                1) I had to create my own coach. I don't understand why they scan the coaches and don't offer them up as the default coach to play as..
                                2) Love the transfer hub, team hub, new breaking news tabs. I saw those things in the beta and the demo, but I wanted to give EA a shout out on the changes.
                                3) Love the new contract cut screens. Again, saw this on the demo. However, they did add a skip button! In the demo, you had to watch these long talks and pauses.
                                4) My first game was against a Portuguese team. My passing was a bit faster in this version. I usually pass and move as close to IRL as possible. So short passes, pass the way you face, etc. The more I did this, the more likely the CPU slowly closes all passing lanes. If I became more direct and aggressive, I can easily move down the field. If I dribble, I cut through the CPU midfield easily. I had 68% of the possession. The CPU had 97% passing with 3 shots/ 2 on target/ 2 goals. I tied this game 2-2. I would score and a few minutes later, the CPU would score.
                                5) This version is, in my humble opinion, different than the demo and beta. My passing was better. I was able to open up the CPU defense with passes. CPU passing was much too perfect.
                                6) I don't recall who I played in the second game. I did rotate my side (my 2nd team played). I didn't control as much of the ball, but did have the better stats. I was up 2-0 at the half and ended the game 2-2. The CPU had a ton of shots, but my keeper made a lot of saves (maybe too many).
                                7) After two games, I've noticed that FIFA 18 has Southampton perfectly pegged! A load of possession, but can't win games. haha (I laugh because it is hard to be a So'ton fan)
                                8) Third game is against Hoffenheim. Win and move on or end of preseason tournament. We were in a generic stadium with terrible lighting. I have kickoff, never lose the ball, score. 1-0 in the second minute. Their forward scores a hat trick in the next 30 minutes. 3-1 after 32ish. I'm able to bring it level at the half 3-3. Second half was completely different. CPU scored five more goals. Quick first touch passing for goals, 35 yards out- scoring, dribbling through everyone- scoring. I managed a couple of easy goals, but lost 8-5. I tried throughout the game. The CPU just overpowered me (some what understandably as I used my U23 team).
                                9) I'm going to buy the game. This is the only game I play (I'm a huge soccer fan). There are some good upgrades, a few short comings, and a few things that were yet again over looked. The game is different (defensive play), so a new challenge. I will try the sliders to help with unrealistic passing %s. Cheers
                                Southern Miss-Southampton
