      Northampton
      Season 1
      League 2

      January

      League Objective: Fight for Promotion

      TRANSFERS IN:
Luke Daniels (60) from West Brom $80k
Mason Bennett (61) on loan from Derby with a future fee of $600k
Brad Walker (55) from Hartlepool for $275k

      TRANSFERS OUT:
Sam Slocombe (63) to Sheffield Utd $450k
Ramy Rabia (53) to Bohemians FC $50k
Emile Sinclair (57) to Steven age $110k
Joe Widdowson (60) to Charlton Athletic $250k

      League
      Northampton 3 - 0 Torquay Utd
      Marquis 14‘
      Hooper 28‘
      Marquis 45‘

We did the double over Vladimir Orlov‘s side with no hiccup. We dominated the match and overall played well, glad to keep the good form from last month. Could have scored more hit the frame a couple of times and the keeper made some good saves.

      League
      Newport 1 - 4 Northampton
      Deegan 5‘
      Christan Lopez 24‘
      Deegan 72‘
      Willmott 78‘
      Deegan 85‘

Two wins this month by a margin of three is always a good way to stay at the top of the table. Hats off to the Newport team that didn‘t stop fighting no matter what. Deegan‘s third goal was a absolute screamer from 25 yards out after chesting the ball down and hitting it on the volley it went upper 90.

      FA Cup
      Millwall 1 - 0 Northampton
      Garvan 11‘
Sad to get knocked out the money would have really helped. Millwall deserved the win for sure they out shot us 9 to 1 very disappointing but now we can focus on winning the J. Paint Trophy and the league.

      League
      Northampton 2 - 0 Bristol Rovers
      Diamond 45‘
      Christan Lopez 80‘

A match we dominated despite resting key players for the J. Paint Trophy match in two days. Diamond scored his first goal of the season. Duke showed that he could be our keeper for the rest of the season but with him retiring we need to be looking to secure a replacement.

      J. Paint Trophy Area Final
      Northampton 2 - 0 Peterborough
      Santos 10‘
      Santos 58‘

Santos really stepped up this match with his brace to lead us to victory in the area final over are bitter rivals. You could tell this match meant a lot to the players especially the ones that had been at the club for a long time as both teams tried their best to win no matter what. Also good they didn’t score an away goal.

      League
      Chesterfield 1 - 2 Northampton
      Langmead 57’
      Kearns 59’
      Diamond 68’

Diamond scores two goals in a month and this one to win the match and get the three points. Chesterfield didn’t make it easy but we were the better team and deserved the three points.

      League
      Southend 0 - 0 Northampton
A very disappointing match that was boring to play nobody could take chances on the slippery snow. Bennett was horrid barely touching the ball and when he did he did nothing good ever worst player on the pitch by far.

      TABLE:

      1. Northampton - 76 pts
      2. Portsmouth - 59 pts
      3. Rochdale - 54 pts
      4. S****horpe Utd - 52 pts
      5. Plymouth Arygle - 51 pts
      6. Chesterfield - 47 pts
      7. Oxford United - 47 pts

(Northampton and Portsmouth on 29 games everyone else on 30)

      YOUTH ACADEMY:

      Joe Connell - Age 15 - CB - England - Ovr. 42-44 - Pot. 80-86
      Ruben Fenlon - Age 15 - LM - England - Ovr. 44-46 - Pot. 72-78

      Q. You were knocked out of the FA Cup how disappointed are you?

      A. It would have been nice to keep going but Millwall are a good side and they showed it by completely out classing us.

      Q. How do you feel about your win in the J. Paint Trophy Area Final?

      A. It was great! Always good beat Peterborough and it puts us in a good place to knock them out and for us to advance when they don’t score an away goal.

      Q. You said last month you would beat Torquay Utd easily, was it as easy as you expected it to be?

      A. Of course it was, Vladimir Orlov just isn‘t cut out to be a manager in English Football.

      Q. You sold Sam Slocombe, many fans didn‘t agree with the decision to let him go do you have any words for them?

      A. I didn‘t want to let him go either but every player has a price and with the $450k we not only signed a back up but now have funds to sign youth and send our scout for another trip out to scout all of England.

      Q. The transfer window also saw you sign Brad Walker from Hartlepool what was your thoughts on this buy?

      A. He was brought in to fill Ramy Rabia‘s spot and I think he will be able to progress well here and be a top player in the future.

      Q. Do you think you can win the J. Paint Trophy?

      A. Yes I think we can without the Capitol One Cup or the FA Cup all focus in on the J. Paint Trophy and the League I believe we can win it.

Oh okay yeah if he hasn't had a May update then hold off on it. He'll most likely boost into the low 70s!

I noticed that! National team is gonna be stacked! Hehe I was thinking about making some signings for my back 3 but Scotland has given me some good youth talent that based on their stats they should be able to cover the centre back positions next season.
Yep only 2 advance. I'm excited about where I am right now, but Italy have a better goal differential so I have to really protect that 3 point lead.

Tex Bumosix takes home his first trophy since taking over at Morecambe with his extra time thriller against Crewe Alexandra. In a match that was closely contested on both sides, no one was able to distinguish themselves for 120 minutes. Just when it looked to be headed to a penalty shootout, Cristian Restrepo, who subbed on at the start of extra time, stuck the winning goal that many supporters will be celebrating for some time. Restrepo in only his first year at the club has become a hero with the supporters after Morecambe were the ones holding the trophy at the end with the score 1-0.

            Press Conference

Q: Congratulations on winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy! In a game that will surely go down in club history, your management decisions will surely be remembered for the success they brought at the end of the match. Tell us about your strategy going in and your reasons for the substitutions you made that seem to have won the match?

A: Thank you, we will be celebrating this win all night. I told the players to enjoy themselves and have fun, but that after that we are going to have to go back to work and finish the season strong. We approached this match with an attacking mindset. We wanted to put shots on goal and we were able to do a good job of that, but their keeper held strong. When extra time came, I knew that Ryan Williams and Jeremy Brockie were spent after giving everything they could for 90 minutes. I decided to go with Wes Thomas and Cristian Restrepo to replace them. I had a good feeling about Cristian as he has come up with some late game heroics for us throughout the season already. Obviously the decision payed off and we get to take this beautiful trophy home with us.

Q: With only 7 matches left in league play, you can secure the league with 4 wins. How important is it for you to not just earn promotion, but to win the league as well?

A: At the beginning of the season we set our eyes on promotion and that has been the #1 goal. However, ever since the unbeaten streak we went on earlier this season gave us this lead we have over the rest of the table, it would be nothing short of a disappointment to not win it all. We are going to everything we can to secure the league title in these last 7 matches.

Q: With the season winding down, a few players such as Jack Sampson have seen themselves pushed to the bench more often than they would like. With promotion to the Championship looking likely, are there any plans for the squad regarding who is out and what you are looking to bring in?

A: I can't answer that yet. Nothing is guaranteed, and the moment you assume you are promoted without mathematical certainty, is the moment you fail yourself. The only thing I can tell you is that the players in the youth academy will be evaluated after the season is over and I will determine who is ready to join the senior squad. Other than that, there's no squad movement that can be expected at this moment. I will be able to touch on this more once the season comes to an end.

                  4. Yeovil Town - 50pts (31 GP)
                  5. Colchester - 50pts (31 GP)
                  6. Coventry City - 50pts (31 GP)

                  ...

                  23. Chesterfield - 23pts
                  24. Gillingham - 20pts

I don't know if you noticed but the Daggers only losses came in cup competitions and I cannot tell you how much that pisses me off. Dominant two-month stretch but I couldn't score in cup competition. Anyways.

Obviously we're in excellent form in the league now running a four-month undefeated streak. That's right, our last loss came in September to Brentford. Remember how I mentioned in my last update that my starting GK (Derbyshire) had suffered an injury in practice, was going to be out for 5 weeks, and I had to call back my 52 OVR, non-progressing GK (Seabright) back from loan? Well, he has been OUTSTANDING. Those 0's on the board haven't just been because of our defense, he has played out of his mind and is at 7.3 form to go with the 9 clean sheets he has gathered up so far, as many as Derbyshire in 8 less games (11 to 19). And yes, Derbyshire has been back fully healed from his injury for about three weeks now but Seabright remains the starter so long as he keeps up in form. I would had never expected that.

I did promise you BIG news and that comes in the transfer front now that we have wrapped up the winter transfer window. Here's the activity:

TRANSFERS OUT: Ian Gayle (CB, 54 OVR), short loan to Exeter City (he requested to go out on loan due to lack of PT). Brian Saah (CB, 59 OVR), sold to Exeter City for $80K (he requested to be sold due to lack of PT). Gonzalo Escalante (RM, 69 OVR), sold to FC Barcelona for $3.8 million (!!!, see more on this below).
TRANSFERS IN: Chuba Akpom (ST, 59 OVR), purchased from Arsenal for $330K, agreed to a 5-year contract for $7K wages. Adamo Tena (CAM, TBD), agreed to pre-contract deal for 3 years at $4K wages. Conor Hourihane (CM, TBD), agreed to pre-contract deal for 4 years at $750 wages. Yordy Reyna (LW, 68 OVR), purchased from RB Salzburg for $1.2 million, agreed to 5-year contract for $12.5K wages.

I had no major plans for this transfer window other than to find someone I could add on pre-contract. My funds were severely limited. Since Paez is Venezuelan I wanted to bring in a Venezuelan player and Tena was my target but I could only offer $3K and he was staying put. Then out of nowhere Barca comes in offering $2 million for Escalante, one of my best players. I saw the board said his value tops out at $3.8 million so I countered with that skeptical that Barca would match but they did and it changed EVERYTHING. You may remember that I purchased him exactly one year ago from Boca Juniors for $600K!!! He was just 63 OVR. The funds from that sale allowed me to offer Tena what he wanted and then make the rest of the moves. Akpom has ridiculous potential and he becomes Scott's future replacement because we all know the 29-year old, 57 OVR striker isn't going to keep this (19 goals last season, 14 so far this season) up forever. Hourihane was a because-I-can purchase. I saw he was a pre-contract candidate with value over $1 million and jumped on it. At worse he'll become a transfer asset. Reyna is one I'm really giddy about. I discovered him in my current role as Peru HC and he has absolute deadly speed that paired with Elito will make my sideline midfielders a nightmare for opponents. I'm really excited about this roster right now.

After the spending spree I still had leftover money to send all 3 of my scouts out on 3-month trips to Venezuela, United States, and Portugal. We did sign one more South Korean kid before that trip was over. Here's the Youth Squad:

                  - Jamie Black (GK, 51-55 OVR, 72-78 POT): An intriguing 17 Y/O prospect from Scotland who stands at 6'7", 194lbs. Interested to see how he progresses if he stays in the academy until May.
                  - Kagetoki Miyoshi (DEF, 57-61, 79-85): 16 Y/O kid from Japan who is ready to be called up as soon as I give the word. Will likely be listed as LB but is too slow to play there right now and will be a much better fit at CB (91 aggression, 90 reactions, 81 interceptions).
                  - Kenneth Hansen (Winger, 47-49, 68-72): 15 Y/O from Denmark may need two more seasons in the academy.
                  - Manuel Burchert (CM, 46-48, 69-73): 16 Y/O from Germany who I though would have higher potential. Needs to wait one or two more seasons.
                  - Dario Verdejo (CM, 46-48, 74-80): 17 Y/O from Peru who is finally settled at a position. It'll be interesting to see how he looks by May.
                  - Seok Min Kim (RB, 41-47, 84-94): 15 Y/O kid from South Korea is a recent addition to the squad. Only 5'5" so we hope he grows up a bit more. Depending on how he progresses he may be able to get the call to the team next season since neither Obeng nor Hoyte are running away with that starting spot.
                  - Sang Min Lee (LW, 47-55, 67-79)*: 16 Y/O from South Korea is the newest addition to the academy. We're hopeful he'll bring speed to the table.
                  * Denotes recent addition to the Y.A.

We signed CDM Stefan Reichel (53 OVR) from the academy after he requested to be called up. He had 69-73 potential and has participated in just one game so far where he did fine.

Seabright came back to take what was his. Looks like you have another goalkeeper battle on your hands!

Congratulations on putting Dagenham on international media by dealing with Barcelona!

                            Hey guys,
After playing around with the accrington Stanley team on career mode, I havent been able to find a system that works nor any decent enough players to buy to improve it. Therefore I have decided to scratch that idea on move onto a bigger more enjoyable project. My idea is to bring a team such as rangers into league 2 and make a sort of road to redemption. Would anyone be interested in that?

They found great talent at Dagenham which made them check out the rest of the League 2 squads
