Congrats on the J. Paint Trophy! Also with only a month left and a 20 point lead in the table, have you already mathematically won the league? You mentioned you want 18 more points by season's end so I'm guessing 6 matches left? If so then you've already won the league!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

      Press Conference

Good afternoon. I'm Nigel Collins for Bristol City TV, and welcome to a very special end of the season episode. The Robins have won the league and are off to the Championship, with just one promotion separating us from the Premier League! It's all very exciting, but let's take a minute to look back at the wonderful season we've had. I met with none other than Indi Blue, so let's find out what he had to say on the season past.

Indi, good morning. Top of the league and off to the Championship. Did we do it right?

I'd like to think so, yes. We played our passing game, and we made incredible use of the transitions between defence and attack. We scored some absolutely beautiful goals, but we also managed to win when we weren't at our best. I think that's what set us apart and made us so fun to watch.

To get relegated one season, and then come back on that and score nearly 100 goals. What's going through your mind right now?

To be honest, I've already started thinking about next year! But needless to say, I'm thrilled with how we ended the season. Breaking the 100-point mark was very special, and to see Louis Carey lead the team out and score the winner in his last game was icing on the cake.

Who have been the standout performers in our team?

The whole team has been phenomenal, including the lads who left us in January and their replacements. There's not a single player who did not contribute in some way, so credit to the lot of them. That said, you can't deny that Sam Baldock's 30 goals helped us quite a bit. I also have to give credit to Liam Kelly for his wonderful organisation in midfield, and to Frankie Fielding for his 19 clean sheets.

      The Championship. Are you excited?

Like I said, it's almost all I can think about right now! I didn't expect us to do so well and get promoted right away, but the lads took to my methods quickly. We wasted no time in finding our feet, and we earned the right to move up a division. This team is full of some extremely good football players, but we also need to recognise the other good teams. Wolves did a great job of running us close until the middle of April, and Preston did well to win the playoffs and join us in the Championship. I can't wait to start the next season, but we'll need to look into a few details.

Is there anything you have in mind?

We aren't going to have the kind of budgets that clubs like Nottingham Forest and Queens Park Rangers will have. Despite our owner being able and willing to splurge on the club, Bristol City wants to spend reasonably and within our own means. We'll take things slowly and build our income streams from within, rather than rely on Steve Lansdown's chequebook.

Surely you must be planning on signing someone.

I never implied that we wouldn't. All I said was that we won't have as big a budget as some other clubs, which means that we need to be more careful with who we sign. We'll sell before we buy, but we have a core squad that has done an excellent job, and I want to give those players the chance to perform on a higher stage. You can expect most of the incoming players to join on loan.

The stadium seems to be coming along very nicely.

Yes, quite well. One stand is completely finished, and the summer break means that by the time we kick off against our first opponent in the Championship, another considerable portion of work should be done. We expect that attendance will be slightly higher next season due to a higher capacity as well as increased interest in the team. Construction should be completely finished by early 2016, by which time we hope to be classified as a UEFA Elite Stadium under Category 5.

Perhaps we'll be in the Premier League then.

Maybe. Maybe not. I'll be sticking to my philosophy of one game at a time. It's worked so far, and I hope that continues.

As do we! Thanks for your time, Indi. Good luck for the season ahead.

      Always a pleasure, Nigel.

      PRESEASON REPORT

Bristol City have been training at St. George's Park right here in England, where they hosted two prominent European sides in Levante and Valenciennes, as well as Mexican club Tigres. Results aside, the first team looks fit and ready for their first matches – York City in the Capital One Cup, followed by Leicester City in the Championship.

Indi has been playing a 4-1-2-1-2 formation throughout most of preseason, except during the first half against Tigres, when the 4-2-3-1 was tried out to poor results. Nonetheless, despite a public tone stating otherwise, the boss is fully confident that with a bit of supplementation, he can lead this Bristol City squad to the Premier League, and he wants all his players prepared for the campaign ahead. Sam Baldock, Liam Kelly and James Wilson are thought to be among the key players.

There's word of two players going out on loan to other Championship sides. While it's thought that Jordon Wynter doesn't have a future at Bristol, Bobby Reid has been loaned out so that he can play regularly in preparation for the top flight. We're also hearing that club captain Marvin Elliott may be on the verge of a move to Birmingham City so that he can spend more time with his family, who are based in the city.

Substitutes: Blanco, Williams, Chettri, Ince, Aguirre, Ralte, Mariño

Reserves: Parish, Hause, Fryers, Pack, Burns

      Notes

      • Renzo Mariño is Claudio Pizarro's regen. I also have my eyes on a LW from Italy named Masiello, Totti's regen. Not a lot of players called it quits last season, but there's going to be a bounty of regens next summer: Xavi, Seedorf, Ronaldinho, Campagnaro, Milito, Pirlo, and more!

      • We'll be playing the wide 4-4-2 diamond until we reach the Premier League at least, but perhaps in it as well.

      • That 4-1 hammering against Cardiff was tough to swallow, especially since it was my first derby. When I pulled one back to make it 2-1, I thought I really had a shot. Jordon Mutch came on at halftime and scored a brace in less than 15 minutes.

      • Santi Aguirre has been phenomenal. Just five games and he's grown to 69 OVR, so I can't wait to see what he can achieve when he hits the mid-70s! He's listed as a LM, but because of his high ratings in passing and ball control, his best position is CAM.

      • I'm going to use Scout Future Star to bring two more youth players into the first team by May. I've got two or three left, and I'm really enjoying this career, so I've decided to invest all of them into it. Hopefully, I can get a variety of players that I can actually.

      • Joe Bryan's contract was set to expire in 2015, and he wanted a 100% pay rise to £6,000 per week. He's such a bright talent that I thought nothing of granting it, and he's now on a five-year deal. I'm not sure if he'll stay with me long-term, though. It depends on how Aguirre develops, because I'll need to fit both him and Fares Bahlouli in the first team.

      • Speaking of Bahlouli, he's been phenomenal this year. I gave him the entire preseason at CAM, and he impressed me enough to start against York, where he grabbed the first goal. Since then, Bahlouli has been starting every game and has grabbed four goals. Marlon Pack is now a reserve thanks to this Frenchman's fine form.

      • Baldock is out for three weeks with a sprained ankle, but Mariño and Anthony Martial are holding down the fort with support from Wesley Burns, who happens to be quite handy as a striker.

      • I've got £3.4 million and £15,000 in wages left. If by deadline day on January it looks like I have a good chance of fighting for promotion, I'll either sign Koen Casteels from Hoffenheim, or get Ben Foster from West Brom on a pre-contract.

There is actually 8 games left in the league but I plan on expirementing with some stuff in that last few games if I win the title so I doubt I will get all the points.

With Morecambe set to begin play in the Football League Championship, we have received word that their transfer and wage budgets have been confirmed. All of the supporters are on the edge of their seats to see what Tex Bumosix will do with the available funds, the largest he has received yet with the club. Rumors have been circulating that clubs are interested in several Morecambe first team players, and if any are on their way out, others will surely have to be brought in to replace them. Confidence is high among the supporters as Bumosix has had success with his signings so far with the club. There has been no hints at any targets so far as the manager is keeping his front office very tight-lipped on any transfer speculations. Even the usual insiders are coming up blank on what to report. What could Bumosix be up to? I guess we will all have to wait and see.

I'm not too sure yet. My midfield and my back line are EXTREMELY young, but with the youth academy players I just promoted they will be amazing in the years to come. I have 3 backline players and 3 midfielders all with "showing great potential" or better.

So I'm in a serious debate right now about whether or not to try to do it with the kids, or to make some signings. Alternative would also to be to sign an older player or two to a 1 year contract.

So basically I have several ways I could go right now and I'm pretty torn about which one to choose.

I find that the only older guys worth chasing are in the top flight, and their wages effectively rule them out for people in our financial situations. But you could try to raid Bristol City. Marvin Elliott is great as a holding or box-to-box player, while in defence, Brendan Moloney can play anywhere. Oh, and if you need a goalscorer, I have to recommend Sam Baldock. Such a beast, and his lack of strength doesn't even show.

I may go to loan route then. Basically I don't want to tie anyone up long term since my young players should progress quickly.

                          BUNDESLIGA

                          Hertha 1–5 Freiburg
The new season kicked off with a trip to Hertha and if last season’s game was anything to go by, I was in for a tough game. New boys Kevin Volland and Sonny Kittel started with Locadia still the man in the middle, and Sneijder played his 1st game in his new role as a central midfielder. It didn’t take me long to get going, with Lewis Holtby scoring a screamer from 25 yards on the half volley after a corner was headed clear. My new attacking threats were prominent during the 1st half, but Hertha levelled the scoring in the 29th minute, when a header was flicked on at the near post, allowing Badelj to have an easy tap in. It remained 1-1 until the 50th when some high pressing forced the Hertha keeper into an awful error, which Locadia duly capitalised from to give me the lead again. Just 2 minutes later it was 3-1; Locadia this time turning provider and debutee Kevin Volland finished tidily into the far corner, a chance I know Sam wouldn’t have taken. I was really starting to have fun with this team, and my lead was increased when we broke quickly, leaving Kittel some space to get in on the act on his debut. The rout continued and Xhaka was the man this time, slotting underneath the keeper’s legs. It was a resounding win, and could have been more had Mlapa not hit the post and then the bar in the final 10 minutes. Still a great start and debut goals for both Kittel and Volland.

                          Freiburg 4–0 Hoffenheim
The 2nd game of the season saw me take on rivals Hoffenheim. Kevin Volland started against his former side and Bosnian keeper Asmir Begovic made his debut for the side. Volland had had a brilliant 1st game, and started the 2nd one just as well after a brilliant lofted pass found Locadia running through, who dispatched it with confidence at the near post. Hoffenheim were much the better side after the goal though, but could not break through my solid backline. I was then able to catch them on the break and in the 23rd minute Locadia grabbed his 2nd from Volland’s 2nd assist of the game. Volland was putting on a master class and he showed his desire again in the 41st minute when he got on the end of an over hit pass from Locadia before playing in Kittel for his 3rd assist against his former club. The 2nd half didn’t produce the chances like the 1st did, but I was able to grab a 4th in the 73rd minute when Sneijder’s delivery found the head of Brooks, who increased the advantage even further. Another victory of a 4 goal margin and a pulsating start to the season, leaving me top after 2 games.

                          Leverkusen 0–0 Freiburg
The trip to Leverkusen was the biggest game of the season so far, with my high flying side taking on what I considered to be my biggest rivals in the league given the hostilities between the sides last season. But the aggression seemed to be lacking from both sides, and the defences certainly had better days than the front men, leading to goalless draw between 2 title contenders. However, it was a better point for me than them.

                          Freiburg 1–0 Nuremberg
I was a little sceptical before the game; with a low expectation given that it was the first time I’d played Fifa in 11 days. Much to my surprise, I offered a lot of attacking intent, even if though the half-time score-line suggested otherwise. It was goalless at the break but their keeper had made 8 saves, and I hit the post. My heart sank just after the restart, when I conceded a penalty which I could have no complaints about. Fortunately though, it was a shocker of a spot-kick, hitting the post from which Brooks hacked clear. That lucky escape drove me on, and after some wonderful play down the left from Kittel, he stood a cross up perfectly to find the head of Locadia, subsequently giving me the lead and him his 4th in as many games. The game remained tight however, and neither side could hit the back of the net. My defence was shaky, but my attack strong, or at least strong enough to retain my place at the top. I also bought on RVP late on for his debut.

                          Schalke 1–1 Freiburg
My last game of the month was a huge as I travelled to a Schalke side who I was unable to conquer last season. After 17 minutes, it looked although the same story was being told, as Leon Goretzka put Schalke ahead. Begovic’s clean sheet record had gone. Then, horror struck. Kittel went down injured with a dislocated shoulder (I believe about 6 weeks). My highest rated player will now miss about half of the UCL group stages. It remained 1-0 to the hosts up until the 57th minute, when after a good spell of pressure, I equalised through none other than marquee signing Robin Van Persie. It turned into a very nervy game afterwards, with both sides clearly favouring avoiding defeat rather than sensing victory. A 1-1 draw a very respectable result in my eyes though.

Standings at the end of August (all teams have played 5 games)

                          Bayern 12 points
                          Freiburg 11 points
                          Bor. M’gladbach 10 points
                          Dortmund 10 points
                          Hamburg 10 points
                          Stuttgart 9 points

                          ---------------------------

                          13th Hoffenheim 5 points

Squad report: It has been an excellent start to the campaign, but severe injuries (8 weeks and 3 months) to my 2 best players (Sonny Kittel and Alex Telles) have dampened the mood a little. I am very pleased with the acquisitions I made in the window, and also with some fringe players who were sold. Mlapa was a tough one. I didn’t want to sell him, but with Van Persie, Locadia and Vukusic, he simply wouldn’t have had the game time. There was no way I would sell him to another Bundesliga club though. Locadia has started the season on fire, and I have already played 2 tough teams away in Leverkusen and Schalke. I have also been able to stock up £23 million plus £300,000 in wages, should the side need strengthening in January to battle in the UCL.

My UCL group- it’s rather difficult

                          1) Liverpool
                          2) Zenit
                          3) Lyon
                          4) Freiburg

With Portsmouth's Striker injury problem getting worse it can be seen in this month. There was a week were I pretty much did all my transfers so I will put them in the correct position in between games.

What a bad decision that was

                            Wilson 13'
                            Ferry 81'

                            FA Cup
                            Blackburn 0-1 Portsmouth
                            Barcham 17'

Played a new 4,3,3 False 9 with Kahraba sitting in the middle but it didn't seem to work so at half time I changed to a 5,2,2,1 and sat back and defended for the rest of the game.

                            Games wise, a dismal month.
Transfer wise, extremely promising. With what most are saying 'Portsmouth's worst month since their decline' Mr Fish has stated how important it is to focus on the positive signings of young talent that help push us back into automatic promotion.
