Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

I've only played two matches since my last update, but I'm still reading!

Rabbit: Man can't believe you missed out on promotion. You've recovered through this before so I'm not too worried. As many have pointed out another season in the Championship will give you time to put together a better squad and with the work you did this season I'm positive you'll achieve direct promotion possibly even the title! Tex suffered through the same thing with Morecambe, and it allowed him to put together a team to compete for the BPL title straight away. Stay positive my friend!

Stu: Not good to see Hernandez struggling for you. No bueno at all. I have only used him one time, and that was in a Manchester United career I made in '13. It only lasted a season but he was my top scorer in a 4-4-1-1 Attack formation. Really hope he picks it up. Your position on the table is not bad though. Champions League position and only 3 points away from 3rd. Even first place isn't too far away.

Simmpu: Looks like Bayern Munich is giving you a harder time this year. I know next season you'll finish at the top of the table. Bayern with all their stars couldn't even score on you in open play it had to be a penalty kick and then they just sat back to defend. You'll get 'em next season!

Gooner: Some tough defeats but getting wins over Juventus and Roma are huge accomplishments. I would agree with you in changing your main formation to 4-2-2-2. It's clearly working out better than the Diamond formation. When I used three at the back my formation tactics depended on the other team's formation not their reputation. For example if the other team used a 4-2-3-1, I used man marking. Same with a 4-3-3. If they used a 4-4-2/4-2-2-2, I switched my 3-5-2 (1 CDM) to a 3-5-1-1 (2 CDMs). Your win against Juventus shows that the 4-2-2-2 can open spaces in a 3-5-2 which is why I had to switch for those matches. Maybe you can keep both of your formations and just switch depending on how the other team plays.

Jamie: Glad seeing Coventry back! Really good progress and a nice cushion on the league table. 5 wins and 1 draw this month is already pretty good by itself right? But add on 6 clean sheets and that's amazing! Great, dominant month.

Tex: Is that three wins in a row over Luton? Looks like this is getting personal with Lethal haha good results and good seeing you keep progressing in the FA Cup and J. Paint. Get those prize monies! Looks like that Mansfield match was incredible and possibly even annoying too lol Mansfield were tough for me when I was in League 2, even though they were bottom of the table.

*Sorry for those that I missed. Loads of good posts on here lately keep it going!

An update from Swansea, right this second season is not going well at all. I was barely beaten by Stoke 2-1, next we faced Southampton and we blown off the pitch 5-1, then lost to Hull after giving up two late goals dropping us to 0-3.

You could be on to something there. I don't really pay much attention to what systems the opposition use. I'll go back through the team's I've played so far and see how they line up and what results I got against them.

To be honest all of the teams are giving me a hard time. I'm having a hard time scoring which is really annoying because Kalou was on fire before getting sent off. After that he's been terrible and he has scored something like four league goals in the second half of the year. Thanks for the support but I don't think I'll win the league next season. I'm now in August with almost all of the transfers done and they have improved the team but not enough in my opinion. We're in a transition now and my objective is to finish second. Who knows, maybe I can beat Bayern to the league title next season.

Tune up for a third Hertha update in about half an hour! After that I'll post the squad review if I'm not too tired. I'm on fire today with these updates.

Our first loss in the league this month but I'm not really bothered about that because it was another month where not just one but Two! premier league sides were knocked out of the cup by the Hatters. A combination of that and the high scoring wins in the league has everyone at Luton in a state of ecstasy, on to the league table:

                Hertha BSC 0 - 2 Borussia Mönchengladbach
                Raffael 68', Kramer 85'

Hertha continued their poor run in their second loss of the season against Borussia Mönchengladbach. This time the Berliners were able to get only three shots off and the game was dominated by the away team. The game was decided in the 68th minute when the ex-Hertha player Raffael curled a ball past Kraft in the net. Fifteen minutes later Kramer scored the second with a shot from outside the box.

                Borussia Dortmund 1 - 0 Hertha BSC
                Sahin 9'

Ganchev's side picked up their second loss in a row against second-placed Borussia Dortmund. Once again the Berliners got outplayed and they didn't have many shots. The only goal of the game was scored by Nuri Sahin in the 9th minute after a lobbed pass was played in the box. Thomas Kraft made a mistake and came out of his goal way too late which lead to the Turkish midfielder putting the ball to the back of the net through Kraft's legs.

                Hertha BSC 2 - 0 Eintracht Frankfurt
                Plattenhardt 4', Baumjohann 79'

Congratulations on achieving a third-place finish! How do you feel now?

I'm relieved and really, really happy. It's a wonderful feeling to come to a midtable side and qualify to the Champions League with it in your first season. I want to thank the players, the board and the fans. Their support and hard work made this easier and they were helpful.

You could have finished second if you had a better goal difference. Does this make you angry?

A bit, yes. It's really annoying to be second for the whole season and then to lose your place in the last month because of poor finishing but I'm happy about us being in the Champions League. Like I said before, it doesn't matter if we're second or third.

You mentioned poor finishing. Will you be replacing your strikers in the summer?

I don't usually talk about transfer business but yes, I'm looking for a new striker. Salomon (Kalou) has been unhappy lately and he has found the net only a couple of times in the second half of the season. Julian Schieber, Bahebeck and Yesil are all going to stay. That's all.

With your new signing Mulumbu arriving, what will happen to Hosogai and Skjelbred?

Both of them are great players but Hajime (Hosogai) hasn't been that important for the team and he's getting older. We have spoken with him about this and he reacted really professionally about us transfer listing him. Per (Skjelbred) is a good player and he will start with Youssouf.

What will be your objective for next season?

I want the team to finish second, reach the cup semi final and reach the round of 16 in the Champions League. I find these targets realistic.

Are you happy about your budget for the summer?

Thinking about the financial situation yes, I am. Of course it would have been better to get over twenty five million but I'm happy with fifteen as well. That's all, gotta go.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

2 wins and a draw so far (Still unbeaten vs them ). Should still have 1 more match to play against them this season as well but I could me remembering wrong. That Mansfield game was so annoying haha. Kept giving up stupid goals and then thought the game was going to end in a draw before Wheeler completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute for the win.

Not only 5 wins and 1 draw this month but in the season so far, I have drew 2 and won the rest. I have conceded just 2 goals and Allsop has 12 clean sheets. Defence is my strong point this FIFA

                      2014-15 Season Squad Review

                      Starting XI

                      GK: Thomas Kraft
                      , 77 Ovr, 26 Years Old, 9/10
18 clean sheets in 36 games

The most important piece of the backline was our keeper Thomas Kraft. He made a lot of crucial saves and he saved about four penalties out of six. Kraft has really good reflexes and he is a good shot stopper. Unfortunately he made a few mistakes and he came out of his goal wrongly but he will keep his starting spot.

RB: Peter Pekarik, 75 Ovr, 28 Years Old, 7/10
0 goals and 0 assists in 26 games

Our starting right back isn't really a great player. He is alright defensively and alright offensively but he really lacks pace and positioning skills. Pekarik was often out of position and he wasn't able to catch up to faster wingers. He didn't pick up a single assist and he wasn't important going forwards. An average player. Will get replaced if there is spare money to use on a replacement.

CB: Fabian Schär, 78 Ovr, 23 Years Old, 7.5/10
                      1 goal in 22 games

Our summer signing made his way to the first team in December after he played better than Heitinga in defence. Since then the Swiss defender has kept his spot and he's been good in defence. Schär managed to get himself a goal from a corner to score the winner. Keeps improving and has a bright future. Won't get replaced.

CB: Fabian Lustenberger, 78 Ovr, 27 Years Old, 7.5/10
                      0 goals in 34 games

The team's captain who played in all but two games this season. Like Schär, he did well but wasn't spectacular at the back. Defended well and improved but that's basically all about him. Isn't a player who shines, just gets the job done. Won't get replaced.

LB: Marvin Plattenhardt, 73 Ovr, 23 Years Old, 6/10
                      1 goal in 20 games

Plattenhardt is the starting left back of the team but he was often rotated with Nico Schulz. Plattenhardt didn't play that well, he just was there. Not the fastest player, not the best defensively and not the best offensively. A player who is easy to leave unnoticed. Will probably lose his starting spot to Schulz.

CDM: Hajime Hosogai, 75 Ovr, 29 Years Old, 6.5/10
                      4 assists in 33 games

He started the season well but then he became worse and worse. He is slow, weak, bad defender and an average passer of the ball. On top of that he started declining in stats when he was 28 years old. Felt really slow and he was really often out of position. Will get replaced by Mulumbu.

CDM: Per Ciljan Skjelbred, 75 Ovr, 28 Years Old, 7.5/10
3 goals and 3 assists in 29 games

The more creative and attacking-minded holding midfielder of the team who had a good season. Skjelbred outshined Hosogai in every way possible. He is faster, more agile, better passer and a better player. Skjelbred also scored three really important goal this season. Won't get replaced.

RM: Leonardo Bittencourt, 75 Ovr, 21 Years Old, 7/10
4 goals and 2 assists in 34 games

One of the few players of the team who appeared in every game of the season. Sadly, he wasn't an important player this season and he grew by three stats. Not really what I was looking for when I bought him but he is still young and I'll keep giving him chances. Didn't really excell at anything this season. Will lose the starting spot if I can get the cash for a replacement.

CAM: Ronny, 75 Ovr, 29 Years Old, 7.5/10
                      7 goals and 4 assists in 36

Another player who featured in all of the games this season. The Brazilian had a strange season in which he had some great games and the next game would be terrible. Lacks pace and dribbling skill but has a terrific shot which sadly goes often too high. An older player who is decreasing. Will get replaced.

LM: Valentin Stocker, 79 Ovr, 26 Years Old, 7.5/10
6 goals and 1 assist in 32 games

Stocker had an average season in which he picked only one assist but the winger contributed more than his stats show. He was threatening in attack and he played an important role in a lot of our goals. Needs to add assists to his game next season. Will keep his spot.

ST: Salomon Kalou, 80 Ovr, 29 Years Old, 7/10
                      14 goals in 32 games

The starting striker who faced a tragic story. He was on fire, scoring nine goals in three months but then he got sent off. After his sending off he became a completely different player and he found the net only four times in the second half of the season. A lot of times he was almost invisible on the pitch. Really sad because he had a great start to the season. Starting to decline and will be replaced.

                      Notable Substitutes

RB: Julian Korb, 70 Ovr, 23 Years Old, 6/10
                      1 assist in 10 games

Our second-choice right back who got a couple of games under his belt this season. He was average and made some mistakes. Sadly he didn't grow at all. I'll be looking to replace him in the summer.

LM: Nico Schulz, 72 Ovr, 22 Years Old, 6.5/10
                      1 assist in 14 games

A player who has come true Hertha's academy who can play everywhere on the left flank. He got some playing time as he was rotated with Plattenhardt as our left back. Really pacy and that's basically all about him. Won't get replaced.

ST: Julian Schieber, 76 Ovr, 26 Years Old, 6/10
4 goals and 4 assists in 19 games

The second-choice striker who got a bit of playing time but failed to take his chances except for the few games he played when Kalou was suspended. Feels sluggish and isn't really good at anything. Might lose his spot on the bench.

CB: Johnny Heitinga, 77 Ovr, 31 Years Old, 6.5/10
0 goals and 0 assists in 14 games

A good defender and a good defender for the bench. Was a started in the beginning of the season but then he lost his spot to Fabian Schär. Is old and he's decreasing. Future unsure.

RM: Roy Beerens, 73 Ovr, 24 Years Old, 6/10
2 goal and 1 assists in 25 games

Started as our starting right winger but he lost his place to Bittencourt who is better. Played well but didn't score and assist enough goals. Didn't live up to expectations. Will probably stay in the team.

LM: Genki Haraguchi, 73 Ovr, 24 Years Old, 6.5/10
2 goals and 3 assists in 22 games

The substitute attacking midfielder who got some playing time. A good dribbler and an agile player but not a good shooter. Scored twice and assisted three goals in his 22 appearances which mostly were from the bench. Won't get replaced.

                            EXE - Keohane 2', 53, Wheeler 12', Reid 46', Nichols 63'

Exeter took the game to Tranmere right from the start as Wilson sprinted down the field drawing the defense to him before laying it off to Keohane to blast into the open goal. Reid then brought the ball to the left side of the box and crossed it into Wheeler for the easy tap in right in front of the goal. A poor tackle gave Tranmere a free kick just outside the box which Laird converted with skill. Reid then showed a great individual display just as the half began and scored his first goal since returning from injury. Keohane then weaved through the defense in the attacking third for his second goal as he beat the keeper on his near post. Sercombe blasted a shot from distance that was deflected by the defender up into the air. The ball found its way to Nichols who chested it down then slid it into the net past the charging keeper.

                            CAM - Donaldson 76'

Pym made a great save in goal off a Cambridge shot, but the ball deflected up into the air in a dangerous area. Donaldson found himself in the right spot as he rose up and headed the ball into the open net with Pym still recovering from the save he had just made. Exeter looked like they were about to get one back at the end, but Ariyibi's effort went off the post and was cleared by the defense.

                            EXE - Ariyibi 26', Cummins 69', Reid 74'

The first goal came after Reid brought the ball down the right wing and then crossed it in to Ariyibi to tap it in for his fist Exeter City goal. Cummins calmly slotted the ball past the keeper after being played through on goal by Keohane. Two embarrassing displays of defense led to the game being tied after goals from Scannell and Hammill with a minute of a each other. Reid answered right back with his own goal to give Exeter the lead once again. Reid had a chance to put the game away in the 89th minute but hit the post. It proved to be costly as Huddersfield came down the field and tied the game up with Wells finishing off the play to force a replay.

                            YOR - Jarvis 88'

On the final play of the first half Hughes showed some class as he headed the ball opposite of where he was moving and into the goal of a well placed corner kick. Williams was played through nicely by Wilson and flicked the ball past the keeper to extend the lead to two. Wilson then dribbled the ball up the middle of the defense and fired the ball as soon as he stepped into the box and saw it fly into the top left of the goal. Jarvis disrupted the clean sheet as he fired a beautiful strike from the left side of the goal that curled nicely into the far right of the net.

Kilkenny headed home a cross into the box to open up the game early and put Preston ahead. Oakley answered back with the half winding down as he dribbled to the right side of the goal and played the ball back across the frame into the left side of the net. Cummins received the ball and used his strength to hold off the defender on his way towards the keeper before he played it past him on the near post. Wheeler then came down the right wing and caught the keeper off balance as he shot it past him once again on the near post. Preston played a great ball over the top that was misjudged by the defense and King first timed it into the net. Exeter's defense was then stripped in their own half and Preston raced ahead with Davies finishing off the layoff to tie to fixture heading into the second leg.

Ariyibi dribbled down the middle of the defense and just before he shot a defender was able to get a poke on the ball, Ariyibi was able to barely beat the keeper with a sliding kick that found its way into the net. Vaughan was able to keep Huddersfield alive after he tapped in a pass from a great display of dribbling. Williams dribbled the ball from right to left until he found some space to slide the ball past the keeper on the near post. Williams dribbled won the middle before laying it off to Sercombe who hit it off the keeper and into the goal. Cummins kept up his great form with only a few minutes of on the pitch as he positioned himself well to receive a pass and calmly play it past the man in goal to put the exclamation mark on the match for Exeter.

                            Cheltenham Town 3 - Exeter City 0
                            CHL - Harrison 26', 35', Gornell 70'

Pym made a great save, but the ball landed right at Harrison's foot for an easy tap in to give Cheltenham the lead. Harrison found the net again after receiving the ball on the right side of the box and then turning to fire into the bottom left corner of the goal. Gornell finished off the embarrassing performance by Exeter as he overpowered the last defender and blasted the ball past the keeper into the left side of the goal to give Cheltenham the 3-0 win.

                            ACC - Hazeldine 23', Naismith 32'

Davies raced down the field on the counter before calmly playing the ball past the keeper to the near post for the lead. Hyndman then took the ball away from the last defender and then beat the keeper 1 on 1 for his first goal in an Exeter shirt. Hazeldine then made his defender look silly with a series of moves before firing the ball into the net the cut the lead in half. Naismith then found the gap in the defense to fire the ball through and it found it's way into the net to tie the match at 2 a piece. Williams then led a strong counter attack down the middle before laying it off to Wilson who placed it into the bottom left of the net to give Exeter the lead. Davies then cut from the left side of the box to the center before shooting through the defense and past the keeper to give us the final scoreline of 4-2.

                            EVE - Naismith 9', Eto'o 89'

Naismith opened the scoring off a powerful header that settled into the top right corner. Williams found Ariyibi cutting into the box to even up the game at 1-1. Naismith then showed poor judgement on a tackle that saw him sent off with a read card giving Exeter the much needed advantage for the remainder of the game. Ariyibi then came down the left wing and crossed the ball to Reid who had his shot blocked, but then finished up the rebound to give Exeter the lead. Williams then made a great sliding interception in the midfield that found its way to Wilson who raced down the field to beat the keeper and double the lead for Exeter. Eto'o finished a great cross with a back post run to give Everton a chance to force a replay, but Exeter were able to hold on to the lead through the last few minutes knocking Everton out of the F.A. Cup.

-At only 15 years old Aaron McKenzie still has a lot of growth to accomplish as a player. The youth coaches seem to have found a role for him on the left side of the midfield and he seems to be a natural fit there with his strong left foot. He is known to be highly technically gifted.

Fraser Walker (England) 17 years old 48-50 OVR 64-68 POT.
-The 17 year old player is making the majority of his appearances an attacking midfielder in the academy. He is known for his technical gifts in the midfield and has the potential to make the senior squad next season if he continues to develop well.

Exeter City Player of the Month

                            Ryan Williams

Ryan Williams was one of the two Morecambe players that Tex Bumosix brought over after making the move to Exeter City. He only appeared on the score sheet twice this month, but displayed his playmaking qualities as he played a part in the majority of the goals Exeter scored this month. His place on top of the assists leaders for League 2 is a testament to that.

Gboly Ariyibi is a young American winger who spent his youth career in the famous Southampton academy. He never made a senior appearance for the Saints before moving on the Leeds United in 2013. After just a year with Leeds he moved on to Chesterfield, but was still struggling for playing time. Tex Bumosix using his American connections brought in the young player to give life to the depleted wings of his Exeter side. Known for his pace, Ariyibi may soon be a familiar sight streaking down the wings in an Exeter shirt.

                            Emerson Hyndman - Loan

A second American player brought in on loan this season for Exeter. People expected this to be coming eventually after Bumosix took over, but he has finally started to bring an American influence into the squad, although both on loan. Emerson is a promising young player for Fulham who was called up to the senior squad after their relegation campaign of last season. Fulham wanted him to see more time on the pitch, and Exeter needed depth in the midfield, so the match was beneficial for both clubs. He is known as a more creative midfielder who will fit well into the build up play, although he is not necessarily a goal scorer.

                            Alex MacDonald - Pre-Contract

Alex MacDonald came up through the Burnley academy making very few appearances for the senior side, and spending most of his career out on loan to several clubs including Exeter rivals Plymouth Argyle. He joined Burton Albion in 2013 where he finally found a consistent place in the squad. He plays on the outside of the midfield, but is expected to play further forward in a wing role for Exeter when he joins next season. He is know for his exceptional work rates on both ends, and is the kind of player that should't take long to win over the Exeter supporters.

                            Liam Ridehalgh - Pre-Contract

Liam Ridehalgh came up through the Huddersfield system but spent the majority of his career there out on loan to various League 2 clubs. He joined Tranmere in 2014 on a 1 year contract, and Bumosix was able to grab him away from the club to join Exeter after the season. Liam is a left sided defender who appears to be brought in as the eventual replacement for Woodman's left back spot. The fullback recently signed an extension for 2 more seasons with Exeter, but he is on the wrong side of 30, and it was expected that Bumosix would begin looking for his successor sooner rather than later.

                            Press Conference

Hello everyone, thank you for being here. It was a busy month between the fixtures and the transfer window, but I am happy with how we came out in both. I would like to open it up to questions now.

Q: You looked poised to assert a dominant performance in the first leg of the J. Paint Trophy semi-final before a late collapse led to a draw. Are you confident that you still manage to advance to the finals?

A: It was very disappointing to come out with a draw in that match after it looked like we would be heading into the 2nd leg with a good lead. I am still happy with our chances though since we did score 3 away goals. The 2nd leg is on our own pitch, in front our own supporters, and we have no intentions of letting them down.

Q: You put on a miraculous performance against Everton to advance to the final 16 of the F.A. Cup. Not many gave you a chance in that match but you pulled it off, how were you able to come out on top of such a strong club?

A: Everton gave us everything we could take, but we held strong in the end. The difference maker was no doubt Naismith's red card. We were able to use the advantage to level the playing field and took it right at them to build our lead. Eto'o gave them a chance in the end, but we focused in on defense for the closing minutes and walked out with the win.

Q: You made a combination of moves in the transfer market with both loan moves as well as free transfers who will be joining next season. What about these players attracted your attention?

A: We needed help now in both the midfield and out on the wings but we are low on funds to bring in the quality of players I am looking for. I went to the loan options after that and used my American connections to bring in two young Americans who are playing for clubs here in England. They provide exactly what we need and they will be spending plenty of time on the pitch for the remainder of the season. As for the free transfers of Alex MacDonald and Liam Ridehalgh, they are both players who fit into our plans going forward, but seeing as they are under contract with other clubs at the moment I will comment more on them at a future time and date.

Thank you again everyone, but that is all for today. We are looking forward to getting the new players more integrated within the squad, even though they are already making an impact on the pitch. I am confident in saying that this second half of the season should be as successful as the first half for us. I look forward to speaking to you all again.

Another Swansea update, we are seeing some improvement after dropping the first three matches in league play. We beat Bradford City in the opening round of the Capital One Cup. We also got a much needed win over Manchester City.

But this manager got furious in an away match at QPR. We were on our way to a 2-1 win when the ref started getting ridiculous. It was about minutes to go in the game when my CB tried to stave off a late attack. Slight contact was made right at the edge of the penalty box and boom red card, send off, pen kick and score. But what made so hard to take was the fact they were steam rolling my players with slide tackle after slide tackle and no fouls were called. At least we came out with a draw, but I had two players sent off in that match. We played the whole second half down to ten men until that last send off.
