These type of ticky-tack calls happen to me all the time. It ticks me off so much. Way to strict with the cards this year.

        AD Alcorcon - '19-'20 Season
        Preseason Update

        First things first ...

        Copa America - Brazil '19

        Match 1
        United States - Chile (1-2)
        Zardes '44 (P)
        Alexis '60
        Vidal '74

Recap: I must admit I would had preferred if my first game with the USMNT was a friendly. While figuring out how these guys play we jumped out to a lead on a correct penalty call but Chile had been attacking more effectively. They continued to bring the heat in the second half and their stars come through to hand us a defeat in our first game of the tourney.

        Match 2
        United States - Argentina (3-1)
        Zardes '20 (P)
        Correa '45
        Yedlin '60
        Salgado '74

Recap: We went into this game knowing we had to at least come away with a point and our determination showed from the get-go, we were the team bringing the heat early on and once again jumped out to a lead on a PK. Of course out of all the Argentinian stars it to be the one I coach at Alcorcon that would tie the game, but my guys didn't change their approach in the second half and stunned the Argentinians on a huge second half by Yedlin who also assisted on the Salgado goal.

        Match 3
        Venezuela - United States (1-3)
        Kitchen '7
        Bradley '26

        Aristeguieta '71
        Altidore '85

Recap: As soon as the group was announced I made sure to let my guys know this game meant a lot for me and I reminded them again before they took the pitch. They didn't let me down, never mind that we couldn't lose this game if we wanted to move on and we had a chance at 1st place in the group. We dominated my former squad from beginning to end. Unfortunately Chile got a point out of Argentina in the other match so we had to settle for 2nd place in the group.

Here is how all 3 groups ended.

        Group A
        Chile - 7pts
        United States - 6pts
        Argentina - 4pts
        Venezuela - 0pts

        Group B
        Brazil - 7pts
        Ecuador - 4pts
        Mexico - 3pts
        Peru - 2pts

        Group C
        Uruguay - 5pts
        Colombia - 4pts
        Bolivia - 4pts
        Paraguay - 3pts

        ******

        Quarter Finals
        United States - Colombia (2-1)
        James '43
        Zardes '73
        Salgado '76

Recap: In a game where we were producing more opportunities than our opponents it was the best player on the pitch who put Colombia ahead with a beautiful, and I mean GORGEOUS, free kick from about 30 yards out on the right side that kissed the right post as it went in. I didn't wait too long in the second half to move to a 3-4-3 which once again paid off. It was an onslaught of attacking by our guys and a chip pass from Bradley led to a nice volley by Zardes to tie the game. Before we could figure out whether we wanted to go back to a 4-4-2 diamond Lade crossed a nice pass from the left wing that Salgado put away with a header. And on to the semi finals it is.

        Semi Finals
        Chile - United States (0-0, 4-5 PK's)

Recap: Either way this was going to be a rematch as somehow Chile and Argentina were matched up for the quarter finals where the Chileans eliminated the Argentinians in PK's after a 1-1 draw. Although both teams created several opportunities in this one neither could find the back of the net so it was back to PK's for Chile which I thought might give them an advantage. WRONG. My guys executed their turns perfectly while Sean Johnson saved Alexis' kick (Chile's 4th) and Gil put away our 5th kick with a cold-blooded chip down the middle.

        Final
        United States - Brazil (1-4)
        Salgado '3
        Oscar '10
        Lucas '40
        Adryan '45
        Coutinho '85

Recap: Welp. We surprised everyone when Yedlin streamed down the right wing and crossed an air ball into the box that Salgado put away in an upper corner, but the joy wouldn't stay for long as Oscar scored on a ridiculous shot from 35 yards out that also went in an upper corner then Brazil continued to dominate from there. Lucas got past a couple of defenders in the box and put one away past Johnson's side, then Adryan scored at the end of the half on a header off a corner kick which I almost never give up. Of course, I went to a 3-4-3 in the second half which created more chances but Coutinho finalized a killer counter to put this game away and give the host country to cup. Congrats to Brazil. At the same time very proud of my guys who had a hell of a run!

        Alright, now back to Alcorcon.

As previously mentioned Nicola Lancini (73 OVR), who arrived on pre-contract signed last winter, will become our starting LB right away. He's rated the same as Adama Traore but is 5 years younger and has outstanding pace and stamina which is what I look for out of my fullbacks. We also decided we wanted to upgrade at CDM in addition to looking for a striker to eventually take over after Rondon retires at the end of this upcoming season.

TRANSFERS OUT: Adama Traore (LB, 73 OVR), sold to RCD Espanyol for $1.6 million. Tomas Rincon (CDM, 75 OVR), included as part of a deal in which we acquired a player.
TRANSFERS IN: Andre Hoffman (CDM, 78 OVR), purchased from Hannover 96 for $6.5 million + Rincon.

I got exactly what I wanted in Hoffman who is a better player than Rincon and 5 years younger. He's also 5 inches taller which is always welcomed in the air game. Of course he's a great defender and I'm really excited about him solidifying that position for us. After these transactions we still have just under $10 million in transfer budget to go with just over $100K in wage budget and we're working on acquiring a new striker. Our #1 target is a 26-year old Frenchman who is left footed and 6'3" tall.

We have now wrapped up our pre-season games which went as follows:

        AD Alcorcon - Milan (1-1)
        Balotelli '83
        Yamura '86

Recap: Positive for us is that this was a very evenly matched game throughout. Balotelli came in as a sub in the second half and put away a loose ball near the end of the game but Yamura matched his effort, also putting away a loose ball a few minutes later.

        Atalanta - AD Alcorcon (1-0)
        Abruzzese '6

Recap: Not too upset about the result as Atalanta's goal was a nice header off a corner and we otherwise played a very even game. This was also mostly the B team.

AD Alcorcon - VfB Stuttgart (3-1)
        Imada '27
        Akpom '45
        Gorter '60

        Beric '72

Recap: Of course that it was the game where I started my lowest rated guys where we actually came away with a convincing victory. Imada did not waste his opportunity to get noticed by not only scoring a nice goal but also assisting on Akpom's score. He's someone to keep an eye on even if he's our lowest rated striker at the moment.

All that being said, the next update will come at the end of August at which point we will have played against Barca and Getafe in league play, against Legia Warszawa twice in Champions League qualifying, and Barca again in the Spanish Super Cup. We will also have wrapped up the summer transfer window ... will we bring in a new striker? That update will also bring back our academy report, where for now all you need to know is the youth squad consists of only 5 players and all of our scouts have been sent out on 3-month trips:

Andre Osorio, Canada (5-star EXP & JUD): Sent to France to look for wingers.
Andres Ramos, Spain (4-star EXP, 3-star JUD): Sent to Spain to look for attackers.
Christian Lamanna, Italy (4-star EXP, 5-star JUD): Sent to England to look for wingers.

        Wish me luck!

Great run in the Copa America, are you planning on staying with them until the 2022 world cup? If so I reckon you can do something pretty special

Forgot to mention on my last update that I turned down international job offers from Bolivia and Wales as neither nations really interest me. I also got a club offer from Monaco which I also turned down.

Standings at the end of February

                  After 27 games

                  1) Manchester United 67
                  2) Chelsea 57
                  3) Manchester City 57
                  4) Liverpool 57
                  5) Tottenham 54
                  6) Arsenal 53

Monthly review: 6 games. 4 wins. 1 draw. 1 loss. At the start of the month I would have been happy with that, but the teams around me are just not dropping points at all. I’m playing well, I’m picking up points but not making any ground on the leaders what so ever. The month has also been terrible regarding injuries. We picked up 4 in 2 games and our best holding midfielder is out until May. We have a couple coming back in the next week which helps, but I had to resort to playing Kyle Naughton at centre back in the cup game at Palace. On the plus side though, Icardi has been brilliant. 3 goals in 4 games since joining is an excellent record, and he and Mata seem to already have gelled together. Firmino hasn’t been as good, but it will take time for him to adapt. If he doesn’t pick up soon, Chadli will get more time because he is becoming unhappy at his lack of action.

Great job to be leading League 1 in just your first year there, especially considering Luton just made the Football League this year. Looks like Onishi is absolutely killing it for you so far.

So glad to see you lock up that Champions League place. Sucks about missing out on 2nd like that. Next year should be interesting with the added challenge of the Champions League.

With the season winding down I'm hoping you can lock up one of those top 4 spots! It's a bit tougher since you still have some other competitions to focus on as well. I think you will be able to finish well in all of them though. Keep it up!

Yeah me to. The title is definitely out of reach with United so far ahead so UCL football is again the priority. I really wanna win the FA cup and my original goal was to get to the quarters of the UCL this season which im on course to do. By the way i'm loving the Exeter career mate. Those cup wins were incredible!!!! Hopefully those new signings can push you up through league 1 quickly

                        Transfers In

                        Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg

73 Ovr, Central Midfielder, 20 Years Old, Denmark

                        €2,500,000

Hertha BSC announced all of their transfers today and here is the full list. The club brought in the talented youngster Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg from rivals Bayern München for a fee of €2,5 million euros. The midfielder hasn't gotten a lot of chances to play at the German giants and he will continue his career in Berlin. Sadly for him he won't get much playing time with four players ahead of him in the playing order.

                        Dennis Diekmeier

73 Ovr, Right Back, 25 Years Old, Germany

                        €1,300,000 + Julian Korb

The cheapest signing of the transfer window made by Hertha BSC was buying Dennis Diekmeier from Hamburger SV. The defender played for HSV for five seasons before leaving in the summer. Diekmeier had a year left on his contract. Hertha payed just a bit over a million for him but the deal included Julian Korb moving to Hamburg. The decision was controversial, because last year Ganchev defended Korb. Diekmeier will probably rotate with Pekarik in defence.

                        Domenico Berardi

76 Ovr, Right Winger, 21 Years Old, Italy

                        €5,500,000 + Roy Beerens

Domenico Berardi was the third to cheapest signing Hertha BSC made in the transfer window. The young Italian attacker was bought for five and a half million euros plus Roy Beerens who failed to shine at the club. Berardi joined from Juventus after having two really succesful seasons with Sampdoria. Berardi will take the starting spot from the right wing.

                        Jose Gaya

77 Ovr, Left Back, 20 Years Old, Spain

€7,000,000 + Johannes Van Den Bergh

A signing which was made on the deadline day was buying Jose Gaya from Valencia. The young Spaniard had a really succesful 2014-15 season and he was named as the new Jordi Alba by many. Hertha payed a big price, €7 million and Van Den Bergh for the talented youngster. The Berliners needed improvement at the left back position and Gaya is exactly what they need. The talented Spaniard will take the first team spot.

                        Alexandre Lacazette

81 Ovr, Striker, 24 Years Old, France

                        €11,500,000 + Salomon Kalou

The talented and fast French striker Alexandre Lacazette was the second-cheapest signing of the summer. Lacazette arrived for a fee of €11,5 million and Salomon Kalou from Olympique Lyon. The price payed for him was a new club record which was broken only few days later. The Lyon academy graduate is really talented and fast striker who is good at finishing and dribbling. He will take Salomon Kalou's place in the starting eleven of the team.

                        Hakan Calhanoglu

78 Ovr, Attacking Midfielder, 21 Years Old, Turkey

                        €12,000,000

The most expensive transfer move of the summer made by Hertha BSC was buying the Turkish attacking midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of €12 million. Calhanoglu has a huge potential in him and his free kicks are excellent. He is a good passer and a good dribbler and he will fill the hole left by Ronny really well.

                        Transfers Out

                        Ronny
                        , €4,900,000
                        Johnny Heitinga, €4,500,000
                        Alexander Baumjohann, €4,000,000
                        Tolga Cigerci, €3,200,000
                        Sami Allagui, €2,400,000
                        Peter Niemeyer, €925,000
                        Fabian Holland

                        Hertha BSC 0 - 0 SC Freiburg

                        Player of the Month

                        Alexandre Lacazette

The first player of the month award of the season was rewarded to a new signing Alexandre Lacazette. The French striker scored four goals in three games before getting injured for three weeks. When he didn't play against Freiburg it could be seen as Hertha's attack was really weak. For now Lacazette has been worth his price.

                        1. Hertha BSC, 10 pts

                        Press Conference

Good afternoon. You are first in the league after a successful month. How do you feel about that?

I feel amazing! It's a great feeling when your team plays well and you take the lead in the league. Sadly the first month doesn't mean anything and everything can change. There are still thirty games left in the long season but I'm sure we will finish in the top two.

You are playing in the Champions League this season. How will this affect your performances?

Hopefully it won't affect them at all but I think it will just result in bigger player rotation. We want our players to be fresh in every game and the Champions League is an important competition for us.

You were drawn in the same group with PSG, Everton and Braga. What are your chances in continuing to the knock out stage?

I would consider us a serious contender for the first place in the group. All of those teams are great, well, except for Braga, and it won't be easy but if we play well we can beat both PSG and Everton. I think at least second place in the group is a realistic target.

You brought in a lot of players and you sold a lot of players. Why did you decide to do so?

We needed to get rid of dead wood and to improve the team, it's that simple. Every signing we made was needed and I'm happy about our transfers. Alexandre (Lacazette) and Hakan (Calhanoglu) have been really good for us and the other arrivals will play an important role because of our busy schelude.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

After recent results lining up 4-2-2-2 I decide that I would try it as our first choice tactic. Due to Rafinha's good recent form I didn't want to drop him so paired him upfront with Quagliarella. The decision paid of as we won the match and it was Rafinha who scored the only goal of the game with a wonderful solo effort. This win ensured we would qualify from group E and would need a swing of 5 in goal difference to not win the group.

A solid home win and my new strike partnership really clicked. We took the lead after a lovely team move only to be pegged back a few minutes later from a corner. After that setback we took control of the game and ran out comfortable winners. Especially pleasing was Rafinha scoring his second goal in as many games after his move up front.

                          TORINO 0

One of the most entertaining 0-0 draws I've ever had on Fifa. Padelli made two world class saves to deny Empoli and we hit the post twice in a very even encounter.

As winning the group was as good as certain I made 11 changes for this game to rest a few legs and give game time to my squad players. The Swedes were the better team in the first half and deservedley lead at the interval. We came out all guns blazing in the second half and Barreto's late brace was deserved reward.

                          GENOA 0

My new strike partnership did the business again in this game. Genoa were slow to get going and we were ruthless in punishing them. Rafinha curled one into the top corner from just inside the area then was provider for Quagliarella's 10th league goal of the season. After that Genoa improved but never really threatened a comeback.

A really pleasing month. We only dropped 2 points in the league propelling us into the champions league places and easily qualified from our Europa League group which earnt us £2.5 million in prize money. The switch to 4-2-2-2 has really paid off and Rafinha as a striker was a masterstroke. I was also offered the Austria job which I turned down. I have also been offered Belgium and although I didn't want I international management so early in my career Belgium is a squad I think could produce something special so I have stalled on the decision while I decide what to do. The board also sent me a message saying they want me to strengthen the midfield, which is something I agree with, and told me to ask if I needed help with this so I have asked for and additional £10 million. As of yet I've not had an answer. January sees the start of the cup and league games against both Milan clubs so maintaining 3rd will be a bit of a challenge.

I really wanna win the FA cup and my original goal was to get to the quarters of the UCL this season which im on course to do. By the way i'm loving the Exeter career mate. Those cup wins were incredible!!!! Hopefully those new signings can push you up through league 1 quickly
Thanks! I'm hoping they will be able to come in and contribute quickly. The main thing I have to focus on after this season though is finding a striker replacement since it looks like I won't be able to keep James Wilson since I keep throwing money into my youth academy. Glad to hear you are enjoying it! I appreciate the feedback.
