Atletico gave us a hell of a game but we also played outstanding defense to keep them at bay. A Valencia draw allowed us to take over possession of 4th place all by ourselves with two games to go.

The defense once again was lights out, shutting down Ronaldo and DiMaria on the wings and even Suarez up front to not just allow us to accomplish our league goal but also give us an extra boost of confidence going into the Champions League final two weeks later.

Recap: Barca avenged their loss to us in semi finals of the Champions League with a narrow victory resulting from two controversial/questionable plays. Messi's penalty resulted from a very questionable foul called on Lancini at the top of the box, and the Argentinian legend later sealed the game when Hoffman made a very bad decision, passing the ball from the right back line towards the center of the box where Messi ran ahead and got to the ball before the defender and one-timed it into the back of the next. Barca's defense was outstanding as well, and Barca also avenged their loss to Alcorcon in this very same game last season.

Recap: AD Alcorcon are Champions League champions!!! In another closely-contested matchup between these two teams from Madrid it was the 20-year old kid from Italia who scored the only goal of the game after tracking down a cross from Lancini on the left side. The cross actually hit Lancini's defense, altering its path and leaving Real Madrid's goalkeeper, Neuer, out of position at the near post. Farago followed the ball towards the back post where, ahead of two defenders, the 5'7" academy product headed the ball in before galloping towards the nearest corner flag to celebrate. Alcorcon once again shut down Real Madrid's attack from all angles, this time allowing more shots on goal but none uncontested.














This win marks a tremendous accomplishment for coach Del Barco who took over the reigns of the team midway through the '14-'15 season and spent 2 1/2 years in Liga Adelante before finally taking the team to La Liga for the '17-'18 season. Although this is an outstanding accomplishment to go with the Copa Del Rey title last season, Del Barco must still feel motivated to continue to improve his team as he has yet to be able to beat the Spanish powerhouses for the league title.

A year after taking over the USMNT the lack of World Cup qualifiers in CONCACAF was a big turnoff for me so when USA offered to extend my contract I took my time to look at all my options and when Argentina offered it was pretty much a no-brainer for me. This is the team I grow up a fan of since Venezuela pretty much sucked pretty horribly at soccer. Note that Venezuela had once again offered me a position but after they unfairly (IMO) let me go 2 seasons ago I wasn't too thrilled about going back. I am, however, really excited about taking over as the manager of an Argentinian squad that is LOADED. So much that I will break away from my 4-4-2 diamond wide and actually run a custom 4-3-3 with the Albiceleste. The only downer here is there have already been 6 qualifiers played and Argentina has only gathered up 9 points so far (probably why they came to me), so I'll have to play catch up from their current position at 6th (out of 10). The leader, Uruguay, has 13 points so at least the uphill road won't be too steep. Actually my first games at the helm will be against the top two teams in the standings: Chile (also with 13 points) and Uruguay.

Keano, looks like League 1 is the breeze I expected it would be and I enjoyed seeing that you realized that and made most of your transfer moves in pre-contracts. You're gonna need those improvements in the Championship because that will not be a breeze. Also may I suggest you start playing some games with Paraguay instead of simming? I think Copa America is going to come up for you soon and you may want to get a feel for your guys before playing games that matter (I would play the B team vs SFA to test some guys, then play your best guys against IVC).

Thanks! League 1 isn't much different than League 2 so I didn't have to make many changes so I just concentrated on getting some depth in Pre-Contracts for the Championship. I suppose I should start playing some games with Paraguay as you said to get a feel for them. I'll see what they're like in the next 2 games. I really want to have a good run with them before I see if I want to move on or not.

A very tight end to the season! Well done on getting 4th! A big congratulations on winning the Champions League! Amazing win against Madrid, you were unlucky in the Copa Del against Barca, next year! It'll be fun to see how you do with Argentina aswell in the future. Good luck.

• Another ex-Valencia man, Carles Gil, scored a finesse shot! 2-0!
• Few minutes later, we earn a penalty; Benat puts it in!
• At the end of the game, Paco gets a free header, which he puts in!
• A great win, truely needed after last months poor performance.

• To my surprise, Real had made a few HUGE transfers.

• Obviously, we took advantage of that, as Susaeta got past his defender and hit it in! 1-0!
• Real was pushing us heavy; Irazoz and the goal frame was keeping us in the game.
• Yet just before half time, we get a penalty!
• Alcacer steps up and scores it! 2-0!
• Second half, things started well for us. Illaramendi took down Thiago and got a red card!
• However, we had to take Thiago off, as he got injured. (Another ankle sprain, however, only out for a week.)
• Even though they were 1-man down, they kept on coming at us.
• Bale scored a screamer; it hit the cross-bar from 20m out and bounced in.
• I went "Park the bus" mode; the 3 points were so near, yet so far.
• 90th minute, Casillas comes up and heads it...
• The shot gets deflected by Irazoz, yet it bounces infront of Ramos...
• who then shot it over the bar. WE WON! 2-1!

• A counter-attack initiated by Coman gave us a goal, as he quickly got past the defense and kept running and scored it! 2-0!
• Right at the end of the game, he scored again; a beautiful finesse shot into the far corner, keeper had no chance.
• Another good win, we looked like a new team.

• After a poor month, we needed to pick things up.

• And even better, Paco was fit to play!

• We kept on the pressure, going at them.
• Another ex-Valencia man, Carles Gil, scored a finesse shot! 2-0!
• Few minutes later, we earn a penalty; Benat puts it in!
• At the end of the game, Paco gets a free header, which he puts in!
• A great win, truely needed after last months poor performance.

• To my surprise, Real had made a few HUGE transfers.
• They brought in Falcao and sold RONALDO!

• Obviously, we took advantage of that, as Susaeta got past his defender and hit it in! 1-0!
• Real was pushing us heavy; Irazoz and the goal frame was keeping us in the game.
• Yet just before half time, we get a penalty!
• Alcacer steps up and scores it! 2-0!
• Second half, things started well for us. Illaramendi took down Thiago and got a red card!
• However, we had to take Thiago off, as he got injured. (Another ankle sprain, however, only out for a week.)
• Even though they were 1-man down, they kept on coming at us.
• Bale scored a screamer; it hit the cross-bar from 20m out and bounced in.
• I went "Park the bus" mode; the 3 points were so near, yet so far.
• 90th minute, Casillas comes up and heads it...
• The shot gets deflected by Irazoz, yet it bounces infront of Ramos...
• who then shot it over the bar. WE WON! 2-1!

Recap: In arguably the most important game in this closing month of the season it was our newest start, Nico Lopez, who gave us a very valuable 3 points with a clutch individual play that showed he's worth being the highest-paid player in our roster. Atletico gave us a hell of a game but we also played outstanding defense to keep them at bay. A Valencia draw allowed us to take over possession of 4th place all by ourselves with two games to go.

Recap: The Potters gave their fans an amazing show in the last home game of the season, taking care of relegation-bound Levante with easy. Valencia drew again, and Atletico lost, giving us a nice cushion going into the last game of the season at Santiago Bernabeu.

Recap: our lads locked up a spot in next season's Champions League (our league objective from the board) with a tough win at a difficult venue, thanks to a strike from the top of the box from our unheralded CDM. The defense once again was lights out, shutting down Ronaldo and DiMaria on the wings and even Suarez up front to not just allow us to accomplish our league goal but also give us an extra boost of confidence going into the Champions League final two weeks later.

Recap: Barca avenged their loss to us in semi finals of the Champions League with a narrow victory resulting from two controversial/questionable plays. Messi's penalty resulted from a very questionable foul called on Lancini at the top of the box, and the Argentinian legend later sealed the game when Hoffman made a very bad decision, passing the ball from the right back line towards the center of the box where Messi ran ahead and got to the ball before the defender and one-timed it into the back of the next. Barca's defense was outstanding as well, and Barca also avenged their loss to Alcorcon in this very same game last season.

Recap: AD Alcorcon are Champions League champions!!! In another closely-contested matchup between these two teams from Madrid it was the 20-year old kid from Italia who scored the only goal of the game after tracking down a cross from Lancini on the left side. The cross actually hit Lancini's defense, altering its path and leaving Real Madrid's goalkeeper, Neuer, out of position at the near post. Farago followed the ball towards the back post where, ahead of two defenders, the 5'7" academy product headed the ball in before galloping towards the nearest corner flag to celebrate. Alcorcon once again shut down Real Madrid's attack from all angles, this time allowing more shots on goal but none uncontested.














This win marks a tremendous accomplishment for coach Del Barco who took over the reigns of the team midway through the '14-'15 season and spent 2 1/2 years in Liga Adelante before finally taking the team to La Liga for the '17-'18 season. Although this is an outstanding accomplishment to go with the Copa Del Rey title last season, Del Barco must still feel motivated to continue to improve his team as he has yet to be able to beat the Spanish powerhouses for the league title.

A year after taking over the USMNT the lack of World Cup qualifiers in CONCACAF was a big turnoff for me so when USA offered to extend my contract I took my time to look at all my options and when Argentina offered it was pretty much a no-brainer for me. This is the team I grow up a fan of since Venezuela pretty much sucked pretty horribly at soccer. Note that Venezuela had once again offered me a position but after they unfairly (IMO) let me go 2 seasons ago I wasn't too thrilled about going back. I am, however, really excited about taking over as the manager of an Argentinian squad that is LOADED. So much that I will break away from my 4-4-2 diamond wide and actually run a custom 4-3-3 with the Albiceleste. The only downer here is there have already been 6 qualifiers played and Argentina has only gathered up 9 points so far (probably why they came to me), so I'll have to play catch up from their current position at 6th (out of 10). The leader, Uruguay, has 13 points so at least the uphill road won't be too steep. Actually my first games at the helm will be against the top two teams in the standings: Chile (also with 13 points) and Uruguay.

That's amazing! Huuuuge congratulations on winning the Champions League against the best team in the world with your starless team! Don't take that offensively because it's a bigger accomplishment when you win something with homegrown and good players instead of the very best players. You got unlucky in the Copa del Rey final but just reaching it is a big success. The target for next season is lifting the league title. If you fail me in that the Champions League trophy works, too.

The poll is really even at the moment. Starting a career with a new first-division team is in first place with five votes but starting a League 2 career is in second place with four votes. The third contestant which is switching teams in the Hertha career has three votes. Everything can still happen. Rabbit, excellent work with the team. Finishing top four AND winning the Champions League is massive. UEFA and the Spanish FA are going to have their hands full figuring out which teams compete in Europe next season, all thanks to you (and a little bit to Barcelona as well)!

Keano, nice work to get a second straight promotion. You must be stoked for the Championship, but this is where Chico and Rabbit found their first real challenges. I hope you come through as successfully as they have!
