Many players have reported that this works, but it only sorta worked for me. I'm at the end of my second season playing as Fleetwood Town, which normally gets a $1.5m transfer budget from the board. I won the FA Cup and earned $4.5m total in prizes and would like to carry that over to next season. If I don't -- if I let my transfer/wages reset to zero -- my board gives me a whopping $7m in the new season. But if I do stash away the $4.5m, the board gives me only $1.2m. (And there are gradations in between: if I stash $3m, they give me $2.1m; if I stash $1m, they give me $5m.)

Of course, I want it all: the $4.5 that I earned (no thanks to the board, denying all my requests for budget increases through the season) plus the $7m they seem to have available. But it's like the algorithm won't let me have more than $7m total in the new season, which seems lame. For now I guess I'll just spend all my $4.5m on new scouts before the new season starts, and get the $7m max ... unless someone here knows of a workaround. I could use the financial takeover, but that seems excessive ....

Right put everything into wages except like 100,000 so you can afford the new contract fee, put all your wages into a player you don't want and then when the season starts swap him for a another low waged player, then when the new player arrives, release him and you'll have all the wage from the other player.

Yes, that works for carrying over the $$. But what I'm finding is that the more $$ I carry over into the new season, the less the board gives me for a budget when the season starts. Maybe that's only true for smaller clubs/budgets? Anybody else finding this?

Yes I have noticed that what you carry over affects your budget next season. I have just guided Portsmouth into the premier league in 4 season. Really struggling now though as all i was given was a 1.8 mil transfer budget and an extra 20k wages. My total wage budget is now 65k and every one of my players are demanding at least 12 to 20k a week. The board have placed 6 players on the transfer list. I'm probably going to have to change clubs as it is getting unmanageable.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

More updates on my Everton Career Mode:

I'm finding it very difficult to keep stamina high for my players as I'm playing games with 3 days between them. I beat United (1-0 at home, 0-0 away, 1-0 on aggregate) to advance to the semi finals of the Champions League, against Bayern Munich. I'm doing very nicely in the Premier League with a 2-0 win away to West Ham. The FA Cup Semi Final against Chelsea was a close affair but I managed to win on penalties and I'll be in the final against City (I think). Lukaku complained that he's not getting enough football, but that's because his stamina is quite low in every other game we play. I play Musa as well in every other game and he does quite well but he's not growing. Lukaku is still my main man. At home to Munich in the first leg, I squandered a few chances including a near-open goal. The game finished 0-0, meaning Munich have the upper hand going into the second leg. However, Munich barely threatened at the Allianz Arena, and a wonderstrike from Bakkali sent us through to the final against Real Madrid with a 1-0 aggregate. In the league, I had a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to West Brom, my 3rd 2-2 draw at home this season. I went behind twice but goals from Lukaku and Alcaraz won it for me. All I need now is 2 points in 5 games to win the league, so I'm focusing much more on the FA cup and Champions League to get me more money for my otherwise-small budget. I also hired a Youth Academy Scout with 4-star Experience and 5-star Judgement.

              My team:

              GK: Leali (73)
              RB: De Sciglio (79)
CB: Varane (81) - not growing, and has even gone down -2 in Aggression
              CB: Sakho (86)
              LB: Baines (84)
              CDM: Zuculini (75)
              CDM: Barkley (76)
              RW: Oxlade-Chamberlain (77)
              CAM: Insigne (81)
              LW: Bakkali (80)
              ST: Lukaku (79)

              Subs:

              GK: Joel (71)
              CB: Jagielka (79)
              LB: Oviedo (74)
              CM: Osman (69)
              RM: Naismith (74)
              ST: Musa (76)
              ST: Afobe (66)

A little more info on this for anyone who runs into it in their CM...

My player (Valeri) asked to leave the club after not playing in a league match that my team won 1-0. I started a loanee in his place because the league match was against a mid/low table team, and I had three really important matches coming up in the next 8 days. I wanted to keep Valeri fresh for the upcoming matches.

After he asked to leave, and I sent really high counter offers to inquiring teams, I simulated the next game (saved first) just to see what would happen. My team lost (3-1, I think) and the next day the board sold him for about $1.5M less than his value. "Oh well" I thought, and shut the game off for the night.

The next time I went back into my CM I played the game that I originally simulated, which was my intention the whole time regardless if I won or lost the original sim. I ended up winning fairly easily (Valeri played), and the board sent me a message that I could decide if Valeri would stay with the club or not, and they would not sell him without my authority. I kept sending high counter offers to all potential buyers and the deadline passed with Valeri still on my squad. A week after the January deadline he's still very happy and is showing no sign of wanting to leave the club.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I thought i would use this thread to ask a question about my pro in career mode.

I am playing the be pro career mode and I was wondering why I cant increase my players attributes to a high level (high eighties to low nineties at least)?

My player plays as a forward for AFC Wimbledon(league 2) and has carried the team all the way to the Premier league! his overall is 81 and has lead the league in goals and came very close to that with assist every season. I have 71% of the accomplishments (including defender so I wont be getting those) but I have looked through the challenges to increase attributes and my stats will mostly max out in the low eighties. Is there a way i can get around this? I wanted to get my agility up for bicycle kicks and stuff like that but it will never go past 81. The stat that i have maxed out is my sprint speed which is 86 with the physical boot. I NEED HELP! I would love if someone could help me find out what i need to do to make a player with the skills to be a legend

                    Atlético Madrid - Season 1
So I decided to start a career with these as I wanted a change from the PL and I wanted to win the title instead of Barca or Real, and make them into a Champions League winner. They have a really good squad with some good youngsters in it, who I loaned out for first team experience.

                    Transers In:
                    Oxlade-Chamberlain £8.7m
                    Draxler £10m + Rodriguez
                    Danilo £8.5m
                    Pirlo £5m
                    Giovinco £5.5m

And I just sold some of the dead wood. I'll update later when I've had a few league games.

Just to follow up on my on post: turns out this strategy doesn't work either! If I spend my $4m on scouts before the season ends, the board only gives me a $2m transfer budget instead of $7m. So does seem like there's some sort of maximum I'm allowed to have in the new season ... bummer!

                          LW - Pinto (64) - Youth 17 (88-94 potential)
ST - Vietto (73) - Again, not growing at all!! So on loan

In my first season, I finished mid table with the help of Suso (who is on loan from Liverpool). Unbelievable player and solely carried the team to 12th in the league. Didn't really alter the squad much as I focused mainly on scouting for youth which can be seen from the players in my current team.

Second season I had a little bit more of a budget to work with (£14m). Added to that budget Aleix Vidal had also been a key turner in my squad and gained alot of interest, and sold for £5.8m.

My main target was Suso, having gone back to Liverpool but after being in great form he had already grown to 76, and demanded a price of £15m which was much more than I was willing to part with for him so I bought Zouma (£5m), Shaw (£2.8m), Jese (£7m) and Vietto (£4.2m).

My second season was a great success. I finished 6th, just outside of the europe league qualification. Jese was top goal scorer for the team, playing at LW this season with Vietto having a great season as ST but not one improvement .

During the summer I bought, Mangala, De Scilcio, M'Vila and Bakkali, Romeu, and Oliver Torres with thanks to a financial take-over (I wanted to spice my CM up a little bit, was getting bored with the slow growth of the squad). I also bought two 5* judgement scouts while only 3* experience for £4m each.

Started the season well, 17 games in and in contention for a CPL place. Although send Vietto, and Zouma out on loan to hopefully get them some growth.

Also need a new Keeper as Ustari has decided to leave in the summer. Bloody cretin. Any good replacements?

Any thoughts on how to improve the growth of my players? Only a few players are growing well? Is it a case of moving them on and finding replacements?

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

In my first season still, started a career at Stoke City. Through the first third of the year, I was right around 17th or 18th in the tables, but as I've gotten better with the mechanics of this year's game, my team has gotten hot. I'm now up to 6th in the tables with around 7 or 8 matches to go I believe.

The only major guy that I sold I believe is Ryan Shawcross.

I brought in Omar Gonzalez from the MLS, David Titi Accam, and Ishak Belfodil. Gonzalez has been out with an injury most of the year, and Belfodil has been a substitute when I need to add a scoring punch to my lineup, but Accam has stepped into my starting lineup on the wing across from Assaidi and has played really well.

I was finally able to get enough money to pay for a 4/5 star scout after I sold Shawcross, so I'm hoping I'll be able to bring some good players into my Youth Academy.

I also took the job as the manager of the Ivory Coast for International play, so that should be fun.
