Jones made a diving save, but pushed the ball straight into Chorley's chest deflecting back into his own net. Holmes-Dennis got free down the right wing and sent a cross in picking out Reid for a well placed header inside the near post.

Fogden played a great give and go with Agyemang and got the ball in the middle of the box for a quick strike past the keeper. Wallace sent Agyemang through on goal on the right side and he blasted a shot past the keeper. Cowie sent a cross into the box past the foot of Shorey for Huws to tap into the goal and cut the lead in half. Fogden found Agyemang in the middle of the box and he was able to slot it around the keeper and into the bottom left corner. Barcham played a ball over the top and found Wallace on his own down the left side of the box and he drew the keeper out before taking a touch around him to the right and tapping it into the open goal.

Fogden dribbled into the box on the right side and worked to the end line before sending a cross in for Tubbs to head home for the opener. Hollands attacked from the left and had his cross deflected off the keeper and right to Fogden in front of goal for the tap in. Wallace beat his man and went through on the right side of goal and played a low ball across for Tubbs to tap in on the left side. Bloomfield played it up the middle for Jhinghan on the edge of the box and he fired a right footed shot inside the left post.

Wallace came down the left wing and cut the ball inside to the middle of the box to use his stronger right foot to slot it past the keeper into the bottom right corner. Wallace beat his defender and got free down the right side of the box and picked out Barcham on the left side with a low cross for the easy tap in. Fletcher sent a cross in from the left side that was horribly mishandled by the keeper allowing Penn to get to the ball and poke it into the net.

Olufemi moved forward from his right back position and got the ball on the right wing and sent a low ball into the box finding Wallace for a quick shot that hit off a defender and in. Barcham got the ball on the left side of the box and beat his defender to the inside towards the middle of the box and used his right foot to finish into the top right corner. Chaplin won a 50/50 ball on the left wing and worked inside the box moving to the right side of the goal and blasting a shot inside the near post.

Wallace found Atangana running into the box and he used a skilled touch to get around a defender and slot the ball inside the near post. Wallace found Atangana running into the box once again and he used his left foot to place the ball into the bottom left corner. Wallace got the ball in space on the right wing and used his time to pick out Westcarr with a cross into the box for a header that caught the keeper off his line and looped over and into the top right corner.

McNair was shown a yellow after a poor challenge outside of the box and Bruna was able to step up and power the free kick home into the top left corner. Barcham came down the left side of the box and sent a low ball in to Tubbs whos first chance was kept out, but knocked in the rebound. Proctor took out Atangana from behind as he went to strike a rebound and Tubbs was able to convert the penalty for the lead. Tubbs sent a perfect ball through from midfield for Barcham to run onto. He used a step over to get around the keeper and finish into the open net.

Jed Wallace impressed in Berhalter's first month in charge, repaying the new manager's faith in him. A good return of 3 goals, and an astonishing 6 assists will put the rest of the league on notice that Wallace is a huge factor in this Portsmouth attack.

Manager Comments

On the Right Foot - The new season is off on the right foot. Currently sitting in second is a great place to be, and certainly matches our ambitions as a club. We have a great squad, and anything short of promotion would be a massive disappointment. Our ultimate goal is to finish at the top though.

Injury Trouble - Injuries have hit, and hit hard in our first month. Danny Hollands (Broken Ankle), Wes Fogden (Sprained Ankle), Joe Devera (Torn Calf Muscle), and Tosin Olufemi (Broken Elbow) have all gone down this month, and it is really testing our depth. If any other players go down, it will really put a strain on us to win games.

Cup Ambitions - We have started off with a coupe of nice wins in the Capital One Cup and the J. Paint Trophy. We are hoping for some good runs in each of the competitions we play in this year. The money would go a long way for the club as we continue to pay our debt off. Paying off the debt in full would be huge for what we could do in terms of building the squad.

Alright, so, haven't started the Arsenal career yet. Not on my Xbox atm, but I really want to prep for this career like I haven't before. Also, would greatly appreciate if you guys could suggest to me ideas for rules in this career. So, the prep.

Players To Build Around:
Alexis Sánchez



The real star. The next Henry. Well, let's let him write his own script. He has amazing potential, and is already great. The only way he ever leaves is at his request. Moving on.


Aaron Ramsey

The midfield stud. Just like Sanchez, only leaving at his request. Absolutely brilliant player, moving on.


Francis Coquelin



Possibly the biggest surprise of this list, but I believe he is going to be fantastic. I think he will be the best defensive midfielder in the PL soon, surpassing players like Matic and Schneiderlin(Not necessarily in real life, but definitely in the game.) Solid player, moving on.


Players To Keep
Mesut Ozil



You may be surprised he is not on the list above. He was borderline. He is very likely to stay the first season, barring a MASSIVE offer, and will continue from there on a year to year basis, unless he really impresses me. Another solid player, moving on.


Jack Wilshere

He can't go. No matter the money, he is Arsenal blood. Moving on.


Theo Walcott

He can't go either. Just like Wilshere, Arsenal blood. Should contribute greatly. Moving on.


Santi Cazorla

The last guy on this list. Another guy that all Arsenal fans love. Creative midfielder, may see some time on the left side, as may Ozil, although Ozil will not see the left side as much as I don't see him as effective there. Sanchez will also see a lot of time on the left to open the right wing for Walcott, who could play at Striker, and the Ox can play either left or right.

Yes, he has just basically arrived. It will allow me to sell him, and I plan to do so. The reason being is that whenever I use him, he is terrible. I don't know why, maybe it is my fault, but I can find a replacement. And I know who.


Nacho Monreal
Just another player I don't like in this game. A player we don't really need with Gibbs, as well as 3 quality right backs that I could use at left back if needed.


Mikel Arteta
Unfortunate to get rid of him, but it is time. Will be looking for an offer, and, if possible, to send him to Spain.


(POSSIBLY) Abou Diaby
This isn't a guarantee. Undecided to keep him or not, but I don't think he will really crack into the team often. Might be for the best for both sides to send him to a French club.

Very possible in real life, very possible in the game. Not sure if he would accept a contract, so, in case, I have a back up plan.

This would be a nice signing. Good technically and would be a very signing for us.

Another really good signing, probably cheaper than Schneiderlin and would be a good fit.

Jamie, I'm knocking. CAM isn't really a need for us, but I really like Coutinho. If we have extra cash left over, this could be a move.


Marek Hamsik
Connected to Arsenal in real life, and that is the only real reason he is on this list. Will have a look at him, probably nothing more than that.

Bluey - You're doing a great job with Hull and I can see you in the Europa League next season. It'a good to see that Butland and Benteke are doing well. Also, shame about the cup loss to Spurs.

Thanks, I would love to end the season with a Europa League place but I'm not sure that we will be able to keep this up especially if we start getting injuries. The cup loss was disappointing but I don't really mind to be honest. I'd rather do well in the league right now and not have to worry about it.

@Blue Eagle: Two wins on the bounce is a great way to start the month! Shame against Spurs and City but they are a step up in quality. 6th is a good position to be in right now.

I was very happy with the two wins. I wish we could have kept clean sheets but that's okay. Spurs and City were always going to be difficult games but I think we did pretty good to only be scored on 3 times between the two games.

Gomez has barely been at the club for 6 months and he's already been sent off. Chavez was completely unhappy with his pre-contract signing and Gomez became one of the first names on the transfer list. Everton were the first to make an official offer but Chavez stalled waiting for an offer from another club in Spain. No other offers came in, from any team anywhere in fact, so in the end the Toffees were able to negotiate with Gomez without any competition.

Copa Del Rey - Round of 16 (1st Leg)
CA Osasuna (B-Team) 2 - 0 FC Barcelona B
OSA: Martinez 59' Alonso 72'
The first of two unofficial tryouts for Barcelona B's Grimaldo who is rumored to be linked to Osasuna, and while the LB looked good going forward he had a tough time trying to stop David Ferreiro who was making his first start for the B-Team. Both wings were having difficulties though, with Osasuna causing havoc with their wingers but, without a tall striker in the box most of their crosses went to waste. They didn't have another choice though as Barcelona B defended really well down the middle and prevented Ulises Davila to cause any damage with the ball at his feet. It wasn't until the second half that Osasuna finally displayed their dominance of the match on the scoreline when two first touch passes between Ramos and Olavide put the ball at Luis Martinez's feet with his back towards goal. Martinez used a quick feint to go around his marker and end up being alone with the goal in front of him. Martinez did not hesitate and he blasted the ball into the net with too much power leaving the goalkeeper with no chance to react correctly. The youth graduate had put Osasuna ahead!


Not only can he score goals, he can assist them as well and the playmaker proved it in the 72nd minute. Martinez spotted Marcos Alonso making a run inside from the left wing and he sent him a perfect through ball to the box. Alonso hit the ball first time and the goalkeeper wasn't even able to react to the low shot. Osasuna had just taken a step into the next round!


Since his team had been dominating the wings, Chavez brought on Kenan Kodro to take advantage of the abundance of crosses, but he took out David Ferreiro as well. Julian Luque replaced Ferreiro on the wing and Alejandro Grimaldo had no problems from then on as he completely disarmed Luque. Osasuna had a comfortably lead though and even though Luque couldn't penetrate Barcelona's defense, he helped to hold ball possession and ride the clock.

Almeria 1 - 0 CA Osasuna
ALM: Azeez 52'
Los Rojillos really missed Guillermo tonight with their star striker being out with a sprained ankle. Chavez made the right choice in having Ulises Davila, the team's top scorer behind Guillermo, play for the injured man but Chavez's mistake was not altering the formation. Chavez had his team come out with the same 4-1-3-2 using Davila and Palacios up front as strikers, and this cost him the match. Neither Davila nor Palacios were able to do much up front, and with two short strikers attacking down the wings was useless. The team had defended well up until Almeria's Azeez scored the only goal of the match off a rebound in the 52nd minute, and Osasuna weren't able to make a comeback. Guillermo came on for the last ten minutes of the match but by that time Almeria had parked the bus and there was nothing even he could do.

Copa Del Rey - Round of 16 (2nd Leg)
FC Barcelona B 1 (1) - (3) 1 CA Osasuna
FCB: Halilovic 45'
OSA: Davila 50'
Tonight we saw a completely different Barcelona B compared to the first leg. This Barcelona B dominated, attracted, and at moments it truly looked like they were going to make a comeback. The same 22 players came out on the field, but today Barcelona B really sorted out their fullbacks which were their weak points in the first leg. Their midfield controlled possession, their defense kept the box safe and secure, and as the minutes went on in the first half we knew it was only a matter of time before they scored. Osasuna were completely pushed back, and the only thing keeping them alive was the fabulous work from their goalkeeper Jose Antonio Rodriguez. Barcelona's Halilovic finally got the goal they deserved in the 45th minute and the home fans erupted in cheer. At halftime, Barcelona B needed just one more goal to tie the aggregate. Ulises Davila shut them down just five minutes into the second half though, receiving a pass from Luis Martinez and then breaking free from the defenders with an incredible individual play. Davila showed off his dribbling skills to get into the edge of the box and then took a powerful shot before the rest of the defense closed in on him. The goalkeeper wasn't able to reach it and it was virtually all over now. Osasuna's away goal meant that Barca B now needed three more goals to go through.


Needless to say, Barca B weren't able to complete their comeback and thus were eliminated from the competition. Osasuna have advanced to the Copa Del Rey Quarter Finals!!

Copa Del Rey Update
Barcelona B had made a great run in the competition and it would've been amazing to see Barcelona's B side reach the final stages of the cup, but they were eliminated by Osasuna. They weren't the only Catalan side to be eliminated though, as the top flight's very own FC Barcelona were also eliminated. Barcelona was eliminated by Athletic Bilbao, meaning that both Barcelona's were knocked out by Basque sides. The Quarter Final fixtures have been announced and the surprise draw is that Osasuna will face Real Madrid, the team that defeated them in the 2014/15 Copa Del Rey Final. The winner of this fixture will definitely be the favorites for the title with FC Barcelona already being eliminated.

Real Valladolid 0 - 3 CA Osasuna
OSA: Torres 10' Guillermo 17' 90'
Osasuna and Valladolid were both promoted from Liga Adelante in the same season and the two managers developed a rather heated rivalry, but today both teams face a different reality. Osasuna, the current champions of the Europa League, fight at the top of the table hoping to grasp the league title while Valladolid hang just 2 points away from relegation zone. The rivalry still stands though and even though the referee had barely blown the starting whistle we were already treated to some hard tackles in midfield. All tackles had been clean until the 9th minute when a foul was called in favor of Osasuna 29 yards out from goal. Roberto Torres asked for the ball and at that distance we thought he would try to set up a scoring chance for his teammates, but instead he surprised us all and took his shot, which curved around the defensive wall and found its way to the top corner of the net!


An unbelievable goal from far out that put Osasuna in the lead just 10 minutes into the match. The Basques were motivated now, and just seven minutes later they found the net again! This time Jose Campaña had drifted wide to the right and made a run down the edge of the box shouting for the ball. Torres passed it to him, and without thinking twice Campaña put in a short cross into the box where Guillermo connected with a powerful header at short distance. That kind of power and at that distance there was no chance the goalkeeper was ever going to reach it.


With the comfortable lead Osasuna took the liberty of enjoying their time on the ball and simply passed the ball around the field, playing attractive football for the away fans but frustrating the home side. We went all the way to the ninetieth minute with the 2-0 scoreline until Federico Palacios passed the ball to Guillermo inside the box, and the star striker got rid of his marker with his footwork and then took a shot on goal with his outside toes. The ball curved away from the goalkeeper and went into the net, completing Osasuna's dominance on the field.


A big win for Osasuna that further displays the two team's distinct present. Osasuna go into their next match extremely confident thanks to this result.

Copa Del Rey - Quarterfinal (1st Leg)
CA Osasuna vs Real Madrid
Los Rojillos believe this is their year to finally lift the Copa Del Rey, but their biggest obstacle is the same team that tore the cup from their hands three years ago: Real Madrid. In the league the two teams finished with a 1-1 scoreline at the Santiago Bernabeu, but this time they will be facing each other at El Sadar, a stadium that went over a year and a half without seeing Osasuna lose in the league. It has not had the same influence in cup tournaments, but we know it can. The fans have shown what they are capable of in the past. Chavez made one change to his starting lineup today, with the B-Team's Xavier Quinti replacing Sisi at LB due to fatigue. Even though Sisi is an attack minded player, he's always had huge success in disarming Real Madrid's wingers. With the inclusion of a natural defender like Xavier Quinti, we presume Chavez wants to play it safe on the wings without much overlapping.

Copa Del Rey - Quarter Final (1st Leg)
CA Osasuna 3 - 5 Real Madrid

OSA: Guillermo 47' 84' Sisi 89'
Totally not what we were expecting. Not what we were expecting at all. The referee had just barely blown the starting whistle, fans weren't even in their seats yet, and Los Merengues were already celebrating the first goal of the match. Robert Lewandowski took a shot from outside the box that soared at mid height and somehow caught Riesgo off guard. The goal wasn't Osasuna's biggest worry, Real Madrid were completely running the show today. When the two teams faced each other last month the midfield was very balanced, but today Madrid's 4-3-3 had completely overrun Osasuna's 4-1-3-2. They moved the ball freely around the edges of Osasuna's box and in the 28th minute Gareth Bale took advantage of a defensive error to fire in a shot from inside the box that of course had too much power behind it for Riesgo to react in time. 2-0 for Real Madrid and Osasuna showed no signs of getting back into it. After the halftime break Chavez made some changes by going out with a 4-3-3 Attack instead of the 4-1-3-2. Just two minutes into the second half, just two minutes of running the 4-3-3, Osasuna had life again. Jose Campaña saw Isma Lopez making a run into the box and he sent him a long ball from the heart of midfield. Lopez brought the ball down but Madrid's Carvajal stole the ball away from him, but he didn't see Guillermo running in from behind him! Guillermo sneaked past Carvajal and took a shot on goal with his outside right foot without thinking twice about it and even though he received a hard tackle from Carvajal the ball made it into the bottom corner of the net! Osasuna were alive!! The Basques were back in it!!


Real Madrid's youth graduate Casemiro silenced the home fans' celebrations just seven minutes later by putting a third goal past Riesgo, but the Basques still had hope. Real Madrid were given a corner kick in the 68th minute and as the ball came into the box Asier Riesgo shouted that it was his ball. He came in to intercept it but when the ball came down he didn't jump! He didn't even try to catch the ball. Instead he crouched down like if there was a low shot inside the box that nobody else saw. Isco beat his marker in the air and headed the ball into the open net. 4-1 for Madrid and this was over already. Even Chavez looked at his watch hoping this would end soon. Osasuna tried to get back into the game and Real Madrid tried to hit back with counter attacks. During one of their counter attacks the German international Sami Khedira actually managed to dribble into the box and then take a shot on goal that of course Riesgo wasn't able to save either. Even Khedira had scored! 5-1 for Real Madrid and this was a slaughter now. A humiliating defeat for Osasuna and Chavez who would have thrown the towel by now if he could. Not everybody had lost hope though. Just five minutes after Khedira's goal Guillermo received a pass from Palacios in Madrid's half. Guillermo had enough space to turn around and engage Pepe one on one. Guillermo began to show off his dribbling skills with a cut to the right, then to the left, then to the right again, and at that point Pepe finally gave in and tried to tackle the ball away but missed! Guillermo now had all the space to run into the box with no other defender in sight and he powered a shot past Casillas with his outside foot again!


Guillermo had taken matters into his own hands and scored a second goal for Osasuna, but it was more of a consolation goal at this point. After the goal Chavez took Palacios off, who had been playing a terrible match, and replaced him with the youth graduate Luis Martinez. Martinez had just five minutes to do something, anything to bring hope back to Osasuna. Well he only needed four as he spotted Sisi, who had also come on in the second half for Lopez since he was too fatigued to start, running in behind his marker on the left and he sent him a long through ball down the wing. Sisi controlled the ball, cut into the box, dribbled past Sergio Ramos causing Ramos to crash into Coentrao who was chasing Sisi, and then strike the ball hard between Casillas and the near post and scored! Sisi had scored the third goal for Osasuna!


There wasn't much time to play anymore and the referee ended what became a fabulous match not long after Sisi's goal. While still a terrible defeat for Osasuna, the third goal brought back a glimpse of hope for them. A small light at the end of the tunnel that they can actually reach as long as they come out to the Bernabeu with confidence and motivation instead of relying on Guillermo to do everything.

CA Osasuna (B-Team) 2 - 1 Malaga CF
MAL: Zungu 45'
OSA: Olavide 69' Davila 88'
The B-Team really struggled against Malaga and even more to get a ball past the shot stopper Guillermo Ochoa. Osasuna really needed the three points though and they gave it their all to push forward, but the visitors hit first with a goal from Zungu after a series of rebounds in the box right before halftime. It was Chavez's frustration was evident, especially after the big defeat against Real Madrid, but his players finally reacted in the 69th minute. Ochoa had sent a powerful shot from Ulises Davila to the corner, and youth graduate Luis Martinez positioned himself to take it. No movement inside the box until Martinez lifted his right arm. The players began to move in from the edge of the box with Miguel Olavide sprinting to the near post. Martinez sent in a corner that curved towards the center, and Olavide dove to reach it, heading it into the back of the net!


A great goal from Olavide as it was against the Mexican national team goalkeeper, but also because this was Osasuna's first ever pre-organized corner kick goal. Both teams continued to fight for the lead but neither could get ahead. The fans at El Sadar didn't stop cheering their players on until they all tensed up in the 88th minute. The referee had called a foul in favor of Osasuna within scoring distance, and it was Ulises Davila who asked for the ball. Davila against Ochoa, two players fighting for a spot in the upcoming World Cup with Mexico, were now head to head with everybody knowing Davila was going for a shot. Davila made his run, curled the ball around the wall without much height, and the ball made it all the way to the back of the net! Impossible for Ochoa to reach as it went in tight to the post!


That was the lead for Osasuna and with only two minutes left to play they were able to secure the victory. With this result Osasuna continue to fight in the top part of the table and are now just one more victory away from the league leadership thanks to that free kick goal from Davila!

Purchased From FC Barcelona B for $14m
The Valencian born defender started his career with Valencia's youth academy before moving to Barcelona's youth system at aged 13. He made his debut with Barcelona's FC Barcelona B at age 15 becoming the youngest player to debut in the Liga Adelante, and he's been there ever since. In Chavez's first season with Osasuna, Grimaldo had demanded a transfer as he wanted to leave Liga Adelante and prove himself with in a top tier league. Barcelona refused to let him go though with the promise that he would be in their senior team one day. The day never came though, and three years later he was still with Barcelona B. Chavez saw this as an opportunity and offered the player the chance he's been waiting for. Although Barcelona B were firm with their price tag, there were no complications with Grimaldo's negotiations and the player put pen to paper as soon as it was handed to him. Osasuna haven't had a natural LB in the First Team since Chavez's first season in which he had Cadamuro on loan. Since then Sisi, naturally a RM, has been playing LB. Grimaldo is an ideal player to take that starting LB spot in place of Sisi, because although he is a natural LB he has the characteristics of a winger. Barcelona B have even used him as a CM with much success. A versatile player who is just as excited to be at Osasuna as they are excited to have him. Grimaldo will also be joining his former Barcelona B teammate Xavier Quinti, who transferred to Osasuna in Chavez's first season and after three loan spells is now a B-Team starter.

Copa Del Rey - Quarter Final (2nd Leg)
Real Madrid vs CA Osasuna
The first 90 minutes of the Quarter Final have gone by, and for Osasuna it is all uphill from here. Los Rojillos were unable to use their home field advantage in the first leg and they fell to an astonishing 5-3 scoreline in favor of Real Madrid. The only way Osasuna will be able to advance is by winning by three goals. Winning by two goals will not be enough, unless they score a total of 5 goals in which case they would void Real Madrid's five away goals advantage. Defeating Real Madrid by 3 goals won't be easy, especially at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Chavez's Osasuna have proven that they can swim against current when they came back in the Champions League and advanced to the next round earlier this season. Alejandro Grimaldo has been announced in the starting lineup replacing Sisi who is now on the bench. This match has loads of pressure behind it; debuting Grimaldo in it could really backfire for Chavez.

Chavez made more changes in his lineup tonight which surprised more than a few of us. Federico Palacios (71 OVR), who has been a starter for Osasuna's First Team all season, was sent to the bench for this game and to replace him in the starting eleven came the Mexican Ulises Davila (72 OVR). This also sparked a formation change, with Chavez dropping the 4-1-3-2 that allowed Madrid to score five goals and instead came out with a 4-2-3-1. Davila started as CAM behind Guillermo (ST). Another change was the absence of the veteran goalkeeper Asier Riesgo (75 OVR) who came out on the bench. Mexican goalkeeper Jose Antonio Rodriguez (74 OVR) replaced him in goal. A risky move by Chavez. If Riesgo wasn't able to stop Madrid from scoring 5 goals, how will Rodriguez do? Everything else remained the same. The fans were happy to see Davila in the starting sheet and his name was applauded when it was announced in the stadium. As soon as the starting whistle blew Osasuna pushed forward, and just five minutes into the match Ulises Davila put his mark on the game by using his technical dribbling to beat Pepe inside the box, and force Pepe to make an inaccurate tackle. Davila went to ground and the referee called a penalty in favor of Osasuna! Roberto Torres came up to take the penalty kick against Iker Casillas. Captain vs Captain, and in the end the Basque triumphed over the Castilian! Torres sent the ball to the right and Casillas guessed it right, but Torres had aimed for the top right corner and the ball flew in over Casillas' dive!

A great start for Osasuna who want to make a comeback today, and that early penalty goal was perfect for a motivation boost. Had Torres missed it, it could have had a negative impact on the rest of the squad. The match was much more balanced than the first leg with Osasuna's 4-2-3-1 finding spaces and Davila showing off in midfield every time he received the ball. Osasuna needed just two more goals to complete their comeback, but in the 20th minute the Santiago Bernabeu exploded in cheer as their star man Cristiano Ronaldo caused havoc inside Osasuna's box and then powered the ball into the net off a deflection from a defender. Real Madrid had equalized the scoreline. The home fans celebrated the goal that put them even closer to the cup Semifinals.

The goal hit hard back in Pamplona because it meant that Osasuna now had to score four goals, not just three. Regardless, Los Rojillos kept pushing forward, refusing to go down without a fight. They really wanted the Copa Del Rey, but the only thing keeping them away from the Semis was Iker Casillas who was having an amazing game as expected. The Osasuna fans had a reason to celebrate again in the 37th minute as Jose Campaña put Davila through on goal down the left side of the box. The fans rose to their feet encouraging Davila to shoot first time. He did not though, instead he cut in to his right side and took the shot with his weak foot. The shot went low and strong past Casillas, hit the post and went in!! Osasuna were 2-1 up!!

The match went to halftime at 2-1 and Osasuna were just two goals away from stepping into the semifinals. Both teams came out after the break with the same intensity with Real Madrid realizing that this match was getting out of hand. Iker Casillas continued his amazing form in goal and fifteen minutes into the second half he made an incredible save off Guillermo's shot and sent the ball to the corner. Roberto Torres prepared to take the corner kick, and as soon as he saw his teammates make their runs in the box he sent the ball in with a curve away from goal. Jose Campaña sprinted to the near post where he met with the cross and headed the ball towards the net! Casillas wasn't able to react and his near post man wasn't able to reach it either; the ball went in!! Osasuna had scored their third goal!! It was 3-1 now!

Osasuna were just ONE goal away from the semifinals now and there was still about thirty minutes left to play! The fans at the Bernabeu now had worried faces and Ancelloti looked to his bench for options. This match was definitely out of hand now. Osasuna kept pushing and pushing trying to get past Casillas again but the Spanish goalkeeper was adamant that he was not going to let in another goal again. The Basques had already put in three past him so it was not something impossible, they just needed to find the right opportunity to do it again. We had just passed the 75th minute mark when Roberto Torres sent Jose Campaña a through ball as Campaña made a run from behind trying to catch the defensive line off guard. Torres' pass was perfect and Campaña controlled the ball at the edge of the box, and with his second touch took an astonishing shot on goal which soared into the top left corner of the net!!!! Osasuna had done it!! Campaña had just scored one of the best and most influential goals of his career in the 76th minute and was giving his team the pass to the Semifinal!! As the team ran to celebrate they looked down at the linesman. A flag was raised. The linesman raised his flag for offsides and the referee voided the goal. Cheers all around the stadium as this meant Real Madrid still had a foot in the Semifinal for the time being but the away fans couldn't believe it. Once we reviewed the replay there were no more doubts, Campaña was offside. Only slightly, but still offside. A big blow for the Osasuna bench but there was still enough time for another goal. We were surprised to see Real Madrid fall back completely to defend the 3-1 scoreline once we crossed into the last ten minutes of the match. They did not want to risk another goal again. Osasuna were completely on top trying to get that fourth goal that would put them through, but then the worst happened in the 90th minute. Real Madrid found space on the right wing to push forward in a slow, sort of counter attack. They put a cross into the box that Gareth Bale managed to beat his marker Romeu and head the ball towards goal. Rodriguez got his hand to it and forced the ball to hit the crossbar, but the ball bounced off the crossbar and went directly towards Gareth Bale again who just had to head the ball one more time without even jumping, and the ball went into the open net.

There it was. Gareth Bale had just scored the goal that put Los Merengues in the semifinal with a rebound. With this result Osasuna had to score 2 more goals and there was not enough time. The referee added on 5 more minutes but even that wasn't long enough. Osasuna kept pushing forward but it was all over. Real Madrid have advanced to the semifinals and are clear favorites for the title, while Osasuna return home with yet another disappointment in the Copa Del Rey.

FC Barcelona 1 - 1 CA Osasuna

A win today could have put Osasuna tied with Real Madrid for first place on the league table, but Barcelona refused to be beat. A few changes in Chavez's First Team, with Ulises Davila returning to the bench due to fatigue and Federico Palacios returning to the starting eleven. Asier Riesgo was on the bench again and Rodriguez started in goal. The formation also changed as Chavez decided not to field the 4-1-3-2 that allowed five goals from Real Madrid and instead came out with a 4-4-2 Holding, a formation that has not been used by Chavez since the beginning of the season. Also, Alejandro Grimaldo made his second start for his club. He's truly had a memorable start to his Osasuna career, first playing against Real Madrid and now playing against his former colors FC Barcelona. Osasuna's winning mentality showed as with just eight minutes into the match they took the lead after Jose Campaña sent Guillermo a through ball to anticipate his run in behind. Guillermo controlled the ball with one touch inside the box and then fired the ball into the bottom left corner. Claudio Bravo was just a fraction of a second late to reaching it.


Osasuna's 4-4-2 had Barcelona on the wall for the majority of the second half with Campaña and Darder taking ownership of midfield. Although the team may be getting outplayed, Barcelona has players that can create chances for themselves and it showed with Luis Suarez stepping into the right side of the box and then striking it into the far post to equalize. Osasuna kept control of the match after the halftime break but they weren't able to take the lead. Osasuna had 8 shots on target out of 12 shots taken, but Claudio Bravo played an amazing match.

Youth academy graduate Luis Martinez really stepped up this month going from a future prospect from the youth academy to a current key player. His incredible performances with the B-Team earned him more chances with the First Team off the bench. He is now one of the most important players for the B-Team along with Ulises Davila and it is evident that he may be one of the most talented players in the entire squad. He dribbles and passes like if he was born with a football, making him a different player from the rest of the team. If at 17 years old he's playing this well, we can only imagine how amazing he will become in the future. This kid could receive a call to the Spanish national team tomorrow and nobody would question it, although it is highly unlikely he would be called up at this time.

Alex Garcia - CB (Mexico) (59-63, 80-86) (+14): The first and only CB in the academy, and with Miguel Flaño reaching the end of his era I am very anxious to see more reports on him. At 16 years old he stands at 6'2", and is considered Physically Strong. A perfect combination for a CB.

Antonio Lopes - LB (Spain) (39-41, 78-84): Lopes is the first and only LB in the academy and of course the club has high hopes as it is a position that the senior team lacks depth in. The current first team LB is Sisi who is naturally a RM and is reaching his mid thirties. Lopes is only 15 and stands at 5'2" but is described as a Winger, which leads us to believe that he will be an attacking fullback.

Chris Cropper - GK (United States) (62-66, 79-85) (+13): The third American goalkeeper to join the Youth Academy. At 17 years old he stands at 6'3" and his game is well balanced so far.

Ivan Miranda - LW (Spain) (64-68, 81-87) (+6): The 16 year old has decided that the wing is where he is most comfortable with, and is a candidate for promotion in the future. He is quite short, standing at 5'9", but that isn't a problem since we will need him for speed not necessarily for his aerial ability.

Jorge Asenjo - ST (Spain) (52-56, 81-87): Really high hopes for the 16 year old striker seeing as the senior team's only natural strikers are Guillermo and Palacios. Kodro has delivered great results but is only 65 OVR. Asenjo seems to be a future star, but appears to be more of a creative striker, since he stands at only 5'7" and is described as a Winger.

Mario Santana - ST (Mexico) (62-66, 83-89) (+13): Really excited to see future reports on this kid from Mexico. He's described as "Physically Strong" and you know how much I like to play with a target man. The downside is that he's only 5'3", but he's still 15 years old so I'm hoping he'll grow closer to the 6 foot range.
*Santana has just turned 16 and is now eligible to play in La Liga. I'm a bit disappointed that his height only grew to 5'10 as I really wanted a target man, but he is Physically Strong so he should be a good striker nonetheless.*

Pedro Ramirez - RB (Spain) (63-67, 82-88): Even though I use overlapping fullbacks, it wouldn't hurt to have a natural fullback in the squad since right now I'm using a RW at RB with my first team. Ramirez is currently 15 years old and stands at 5'6". Depending on how much he grows in height I might even be able to use him at CB.

Victor Soriano - CDM (Spain) (53-57, 89-94): Really looking forward to this player. Similar qualities to the B-Team's Vinuesa Ramos, but not as tall with a 6'1" height. He may not be as sluggish thanks to his lower height though so I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do in the future.

January Headlines

Bigas Stays!
Pedro Bigas had a tough start to his Osasuna career, and at the end of last season it was presumed he would leave the club this summer. Surprisingly he was not transferred to another club, but he hardly made any appearances. As the January transfer window came near, it became official that Bigas had personally asked Chavez to put him on the transfer list as he wanted to go to a team that would play him more. In the end it was Sergi Gomez who was transfer listed and sold this month, while Bigas was not put on the list at all. In the games leading up to January Bigas had become the starting LCB for the B-Team while Gomez was sent to the reserves. Bigas has also made appearances as a substitute for the First Team as a defensive midfielder. However, the player is still unhappy and was disappointed not to be sold.

Copa Del Rey
After eliminating Osasuna the clear favorites for the title are Real Madrid. All of the teams from the upper side of the table have been eliminated with only Real Madrid remaining. The first leg of the semifinals have been played already with Granada forcing Atletico Madrid to a 0-0 draw. Real Madrid hosted Athletic Bilbao, and completely demolished them with a 5-0 victory. Needless to say, Real Madrid are technically in the final already with one leg left to play.


Conclusion
I can't even describe how pissed I was to be so close to making a historic comeback in the Copa Del Rey, only to be eliminated by a last minute rebound goal. A REBOUND goal!! Of all types of goals that could be scored it was a rebound goal that took me out. He didn't even have to work for that rebound goal either! He literally stayed in the exact same spot when he headed the ball the first time. The ball hit the post and literally bounced back exactly to where he was standing and he barely had to make any neck movement to head it back to the net. Man I was so pissed. I guess I'll have to wait another year to win the cup.

On the brighter side of this month I'm really happy with my only signing. His stats resemble a LM more than a LB so I was worried about how he would do in the back but he played well in his two matches this month. I think in the future I would like to have Grimaldo playing LM, with Quinti playing LB since Quinti also has good potential and is more defensive minded than Grimaldo. What I also like about Quinti is that even though he's more defensive minded, he's good at overlapping and has much to offer up front.

I was able to get rid of all the players j had on my transfer/loan list except one. Our recent youth graduate Alex Silva Gavan did not receive any loan offers so he will have to finish off the season with us. He will continue to be a part of the reserves (B-Team bench) but I'll try to include him as much as I can with substitute appearances.

Next month we will receive Chelsea at El Sadar for the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 so I'm really looking forward to telling you guys about it. With only one right back on the roster coming in to the season, it made sense that Berhalter was looking for one to bring it. Olufemi is a young player out of the Colchester academy. He is a very quick defender, who shows some promising ability to get forward as well as defend. He will be useful as an overlapping player who provides support as the attack builds up.

After sending Webster and Whatmough out on loan, Berhalter brought in two defenders to add depth to the position. First, Paddy McNair is an academy project out of Manchester United. He has show a lot of potential at center back, and has already received call ups to Northern Ireland. A year with Portsmouth should do a lot of good for the development of the player.

RB, Jack Grimmer, 59 OVR, 20 yrs old - Loaned from Fulham FC


Another depth addition to fill in at the weak right back spot. With the purchase of Olufemi, Grimmer will be a temporary back up option to split time with him. He is one of the many prospects at Fulham right now, and with their recent relegation he was going to have trouble breaking into the line up as they fight their way back to the Premier League.

CB, Joseph Gomez, 56 OVR, 17 yrs old - Loaned from Charlton Athletic


Joe Gomez is a versatile defender out of Charlton Athletic who can play both in the center and outside of the defense. His quickness should make him a good choice to partner with any of the other center backs and should complement their style well. A good year at Portsmouth could go a long way for his future at Charlton.

Cowie sent a cross into the box past the foot of Shorey for Huws to tap into the goal and cut the lead in half. Fogden found Agyemang in the middle of the box and he was able to slot it around the keeper and into the bottom left corner. Barcham played a ball over the top and found Wallace on his own down the left side of the box and he drew the keeper out before taking a touch around him to the right and tapping it into the open goal.

Wallace beat his man and went through on the right side of goal and played a low ball across for Tubbs to tap in on the left side. Bloomfield played it up the middle for Jhinghan on the edge of the box and he fired a right footed shot inside the left post.

Wallace came down the left wing and cut the ball inside to the middle of the box to use his stronger right foot to slot it past the keeper into the bottom right corner. Fletcher sent a cross in from the left side that was horribly mishandled by the keeper allowing Penn to get to the ball and poke it into the net.

Olufemi moved forward from his right back position and got the ball on the right wing and sent a low ball into the box finding Wallace for a quick shot that hit off a defender and in. Barcham got the ball on the left side of the box and beat his defender to the inside towards the middle of the box and used his right foot to finish into the top right corner. Chaplin won a 50/50 ball on the left wing and worked inside the box moving to the right side of the goal and blasting a shot inside the near post.

Wallace found Atangana running into the box and he used a skilled touch to get around a defender and slot the ball inside the near post. Wallace found Atangana running into the box once again and he used his left foot to place the ball into the bottom left corner. Wallace got the ball in space on the right wing and used his time to pick out Westcarr with a cross into the box for a header that caught the keeper off his line and looped over and into the top right corner.

McNair was shown a yellow after a poor challenge outside of the box and Bruna was able to step up and power the free kick home into the top left corner. Barcham came down the left side of the box and sent a low ball in to Tubbs whos first chance was kept out, but knocked in the rebound. Proctor took out Atangana from behind as he went to strike a rebound and Tubbs was able to convert the penalty for the lead. Tubbs sent a perfect ball through from midfield for Barcham to run onto. He used a step over to get around the keeper and finish into the open net.

Jed Wallace impressed in Berhalter's first month in charge, repaying the new manager's faith in him. A good return of 3 goals, and an astonishing 6 assists will put the rest of the league on notice that Wallace is a huge factor in this Portsmouth attack.

Manager Comments

On the Right Foot - The new season is off on the right foot. Currently sitting in second is a great place to be, and certainly matches our ambitions as a club. We have a great squad, and anything short of promotion would be a massive disappointment. Our ultimate goal is to finish at the top though.

Injury Trouble - Injuries have hit, and hit hard in our first month. Danny Hollands (Broken Ankle), Wes Fogden (Sprained Ankle), Joe Devera (Torn Calf Muscle), and Tosin Olufemi (Broken Elbow) have all gone down this month, and it is really testing our depth. If any other players go down, it will really put a strain on us to win games.

Cup Ambitions - We have started off with a coupe of nice wins in the Capital One Cup and the J. Paint Trophy. We are hoping for some good runs in each of the competitions we play in this year. The money would go a long way for the club as we continue to pay our debt off. Paying off the debt in full would be huge for what we could do in terms of building the squad.

Wow that was a pretty good month besides the one loss. Second is good and I'm sure you will end up at the top. Hopefully you don't have to deal with anymore injuries as I'm sure we all know how detremintal they can be.

Alright, so, haven't started the Arsenal career yet. Not on my Xbox atm, but I really want to prep for this career like I haven't before. Also, would greatly appreciate if you guys could suggest to me ideas for rules in this career. So, the prep.

He can't go either. Just like Wilshere, Arsenal blood. Should contribute greatly. Moving on.

The last guy on this list. Another guy that all Arsenal fans love. Creative midfielder, may see some time on the left side, as may Ozil, although Ozil will not see the left side as much as I don't see him as effective there. Sanchez will also see a lot of time on the left to open the right wing for Walcott, who could play at Striker, and the Ox can play either left or right.

Yes, he has just basically arrived. It will allow me to sell him, and I plan to do so. The reason being is that whenever I use him, he is terrible. I don't know why, maybe it is my fault, but I can find a replacement. And I know who.

Just another player I don't like in this game. A player we don't really need with Gibbs, as well as 3 quality right backs that I could use at left back if needed.


Mikel Arteta
Unfortunate to get rid of him, but it is time. Will be looking for an offer, and, if possible, to send him to Spain.


(POSSIBLY) Abou Diaby
This isn't a guarantee. Undecided to keep him or not, but I don't think he will really crack into the team often. Might be for the best for both sides to send him to a French club.

That's all for this pre-career brief, another deal that could be done is Giroud, would want to sell him out of the BPL though, but only if a good offer comes in. If you have any rules that I could use, I would love to hear them. Thanks for reading!

I would agree with most of these, but I would probably also sell Welbeck. I just don't like him in the game and I know you can't sell him in the first window but I would be looking for a better striker than him or Giroud, I just don't rate either of them very highly.

Welbeck is debatable. Yes, as you mentioned, he cannot be sold in the first window. He will also be on a year to year basis, that is, if he makes it past the first winter window. He will likely be on the team to start the 2015-16 season.

The free kick master! My favorite is between the 1st and 2nd. The 1st because I can't believe you put it in from that angle! And the second because you hit it so well that the goalkeeper didn't even try to reach it. Not to mention you were so far out I could see the midfield circle! They were all great goals though man thanks for sharing!

We lost in a cup final. Just another loss in my life. Eh, it gets worse before it gets better, I guess.

You need some beer my friend. Nothing alcohol can't fix. Except alcoholism I guess. Well, in a way it can fix it. At least momentarily but it just can't cure --- getting off track here. Sucks to hear but on the bright side you made it to the final man. Usually when I'm down playing FIFA helps me get my mind off things really quick. Playing football (soccer - whatever) also helps me out a lot but I don't think it would work in your situation :/ working out and also just going out to eat with the significant other cheers me up. Don't want to sound like the bad influence of the forum but in your scenario, I would say getting the team together and going out for drinks would be the way to go.

Everton were the first to make an official offer but Chavez stalled waiting for an offer from another club in Spain. No other offers came in, from any team anywhere in fact, so in the end the Toffees were able to negotiate with Gomez without any competition.

CA Osasuna (B-Team) 2 - 0 FC Barcelona B

The first of two unofficial tryouts for Barcelona B's Grimaldo who is rumored to be linked to Osasuna, and while the LB looked good going forward he had a tough time trying to stop David Ferreiro who was making his first start for the B-Team. Both wings were having difficulties though, with Osasuna causing havoc with their wingers but, without a tall striker in the box most of their crosses went to waste. They didn't have another choice though as Barcelona B defended really well down the middle and prevented Ulises Davila to cause any damage with the ball at his feet. It wasn't until the second half that Osasuna finally displayed their dominance of the match on the scoreline when two first touch passes between Ramos and Olavide put the ball at Luis Martinez's feet with his back towards goal. Martinez used a quick feint to go around his marker and end up being alone with the goal in front of him. Martinez did not hesitate and he blasted the ball into the net with too much power leaving the goalkeeper with no chance to react correctly. The youth graduate had put Osasuna ahead!


Not only can he score goals, he can assist them as well and the playmaker proved it in the 72nd minute. Martinez spotted Marcos Alonso making a run inside from the left wing and he sent him a perfect through ball to the box. Alonso hit the ball first time and the goalkeeper wasn't even able to react to the low shot. Osasuna had just taken a step into the next round!


Since his team had been dominating the wings, Chavez brought on Kenan Kodro to take advantage of the abundance of crosses, but he took out David Ferreiro as well. Julian Luque replaced Ferreiro on the wing and Alejandro Grimaldo had no problems from then on as he completely disarmed Luque. Osasuna had a comfortably lead though and even though Luque couldn't penetrate Barcelona's defense, he helped to hold ball possession and ride the clock.

Almeria 1 - 0 CA Osasuna

Los Rojillos really missed Guillermo tonight with their star striker being out with a sprained ankle. Chavez made the right choice in having Ulises Davila, the team's top scorer behind Guillermo, play for the injured man but Chavez's mistake was not altering the formation. Chavez had his team come out with the same 4-1-3-2 using Davila and Palacios up front as strikers, and this cost him the match. Neither Davila nor Palacios were able to do much up front, and with two short strikers attacking down the wings was useless. The team had defended well up until Almeria's Azeez scored the only goal of the match off a rebound in the 52nd minute, and Osasuna weren't able to make a comeback. Guillermo came on for the last ten minutes of the match but by that time Almeria had parked the bus and there was nothing even he could do.

Copa Del Rey - Round of 16 (2nd Leg)
FC Barcelona B 1 (1) - (3) 1 CA Osasuna

Tonight we saw a completely different Barcelona B compared to the first leg. This Barcelona B dominated, attracted, and at moments it truly looked like they were going to make a comeback. The same 22 players came out on the field, but today Barcelona B really sorted out their fullbacks which were their weak points in the first leg. Their midfield controlled possession, their defense kept the box safe and secure, and as the minutes went on in the first half we knew it was only a matter of time before they scored. Osasuna were completely pushed back, and the only thing keeping them alive was the fabulous work from their goalkeeper Jose Antonio Rodriguez. Barcelona's Halilovic finally got the goal they deserved in the 45th minute and the home fans erupted in cheer. At halftime, Barcelona B needed just one more goal to tie the aggregate. Ulises Davila shut them down just five minutes into the second half though, receiving a pass from Luis Martinez and then breaking free from the defenders with an incredible individual play. Davila showed off his dribbling skills to get into the edge of the box and then took a powerful shot before the rest of the defense closed in on him. The goalkeeper wasn't able to reach it and it was virtually all over now. Osasuna's away goal meant that Barca B now needed three more goals to go through.


Needless to say, Barca B weren't able to complete their comeback and thus were eliminated from the competition. Osasuna have advanced to the Copa Del Rey Quarter Finals!!

Copa Del Rey Update
Barcelona B had made a great run in the competition and it would've been amazing to see Barcelona's B side reach the final stages of the cup, but they were eliminated by Osasuna. They weren't the only Catalan side to be eliminated though, as the top flight's very own FC Barcelona were also eliminated. Barcelona was eliminated by Athletic Bilbao, meaning that both Barcelona's were knocked out by Basque sides. The Quarter Final fixtures have been announced and the surprise draw is that Osasuna will face Real Madrid, the team that defeated them in the 2014/15 Copa Del Rey Final. The winner of this fixture will definitely be the favorites for the title with FC Barcelona already being eliminated.

Real Valladolid 0 - 3 CA Osasuna

Osasuna and Valladolid were both promoted from Liga Adelante in the same season and the two managers developed a rather heated rivalry, but today both teams face a different reality. Osasuna, the current champions of the Europa League, fight at the top of the table hoping to grasp the league title while Valladolid hang just 2 points away from relegation zone. The rivalry still stands though and even though the referee had barely blown the starting whistle we were already treated to some hard tackles in midfield. All tackles had been clean until the 9th minute when a foul was called in favor of Osasuna 29 yards out from goal. Roberto Torres asked for the ball and at that distance we thought he would try to set up a scoring chance for his teammates, but instead he surprised us all and took his shot, which curved around the defensive wall and found its way to the top corner of the net!


An unbelievable goal from far out that put Osasuna in the lead just 10 minutes into the match. The Basques were motivated now, and just seven minutes later they found the net again! This time Jose Campaña had drifted wide to the right and made a run down the edge of the box shouting for the ball. Torres passed it to him, and without thinking twice Campaña put in a short cross into the box where Guillermo connected with a powerful header at short distance. That kind of power and at that distance there was no chance the goalkeeper was ever going to reach it.


With the comfortable lead Osasuna took the liberty of enjoying their time on the ball and simply passed the ball around the field, playing attractive football for the away fans but frustrating the home side. We went all the way to the ninetieth minute with the 2-0 scoreline until Federico Palacios passed the ball to Guillermo inside the box, and the star striker got rid of his marker with his footwork and then took a shot on goal with his outside toes. The ball curved away from the goalkeeper and went into the net, completing Osasuna's dominance on the field.


A big win for Osasuna that further displays the two team's distinct present. Osasuna go into their next match extremely confident thanks to this result.

Copa Del Rey - Quarterfinal (1st Leg)
CA Osasuna vs Real Madrid
Los Rojillos believe this is their year to finally lift the Copa Del Rey, but their biggest obstacle is the same team that tore the cup from their hands three years ago: Real Madrid. In the league the two teams finished with a 1-1 scoreline at the Santiago Bernabeu, but this time they will be facing each other at El Sadar, a stadium that went over a year and a half without seeing Osasuna lose in the league. It has not had the same influence in cup tournaments, but we know it can. The fans have shown what they are capable of in the past. Chavez made one change to his starting lineup today, with the B-Team's Xavier Quinti replacing Sisi at LB due to fatigue. Even though Sisi is an attack minded player, he's always had huge success in disarming Real Madrid's wingers. With the inclusion of a natural defender like Xavier Quinti, we presume Chavez wants to play it safe on the wings without much overlapping.

Copa Del Rey - Quarter Final (1st Leg)
CA Osasuna 3 - 5 Real Madrid

Totally not what we were expecting. Not what we were expecting at all. The referee had just barely blown the starting whistle, fans weren't even in their seats yet, and Los Merengues were already celebrating the first goal of the match. Robert Lewandowski took a shot from outside the box that soared at mid height and somehow caught Riesgo off guard. The goal wasn't Osasuna's biggest worry, Real Madrid were completely running the show today. When the two teams faced each other last month the midfield was very balanced, but today Madrid's 4-3-3 had completely overrun Osasuna's 4-1-3-2. They moved the ball freely around the edges of Osasuna's box and in the 28th minute Gareth Bale took advantage of a defensive error to fire in a shot from inside the box that of course had too much power behind it for Riesgo to react in time. 2-0 for Real Madrid and Osasuna showed no signs of getting back into it. After the halftime break Chavez made some changes by going out with a 4-3-3 Attack instead of the 4-1-3-2. Just two minutes into the second half, just two minutes of running the 4-3-3, Osasuna had life again. Jose Campaña saw Isma Lopez making a run into the box and he sent him a long ball from the heart of midfield. Lopez brought the ball down but Madrid's Carvajal stole the ball away from him, but he didn't see Guillermo running in from behind him! Guillermo sneaked past Carvajal and took a shot on goal with his outside right foot without thinking twice about it and even though he received a hard tackle from Carvajal the ball made it into the bottom corner of the net! Osasuna were alive!! The Basques were back in it!!


Real Madrid's youth graduate Casemiro silenced the home fans' celebrations just seven minutes later by putting a third goal past Riesgo, but the Basques still had hope. Real Madrid were given a corner kick in the 68th minute and as the ball came into the box Asier Riesgo shouted that it was his ball. He came in to intercept it but when the ball came down he didn't jump! He didn't even try to catch the ball. Instead he crouched down like if there was a low shot inside the box that nobody else saw. Isco beat his marker in the air and headed the ball into the open net. 4-1 for Madrid and this was over already. Even Chavez looked at his watch hoping this would end soon. Osasuna tried to get back into the game and Real Madrid tried to hit back with counter attacks. During one of their counter attacks the German international Sami Khedira actually managed to dribble into the box and then take a shot on goal that of course Riesgo wasn't able to save either. Even Khedira had scored! 5-1 for Real Madrid and this was a slaughter now. A humiliating defeat for Osasuna and Chavez who would have thrown the towel by now if he could. Not everybody had lost hope though. Just five minutes after Khedira's goal Guillermo received a pass from Palacios in Madrid's half. Guillermo had enough space to turn around and engage Pepe one on one. Guillermo began to show off his dribbling skills with a cut to the right, then to the left, then to the right again, and at that point Pepe finally gave in and tried to tackle the ball away but missed! Guillermo now had all the space to run into the box with no other defender in sight and he powered a shot past Casillas with his outside foot again!


Guillermo had taken matters into his own hands and scored a second goal for Osasuna, but it was more of a consolation goal at this point. After the goal Chavez took Palacios off, who had been playing a terrible match, and replaced him with the youth graduate Luis Martinez. Martinez had just five minutes to do something, anything to bring hope back to Osasuna. Well he only needed four as he spotted Sisi, who had also come on in the second half for Lopez since he was too fatigued to start, running in behind his marker on the left and he sent him a long through ball down the wing. Sisi controlled the ball, cut into the box, dribbled past Sergio Ramos causing Ramos to crash into Coentrao who was chasing Sisi, and then strike the ball hard between Casillas and the near post and scored! Sisi had scored the third goal for Osasuna!


There wasn't much time to play anymore and the referee ended what became a fabulous match not long after Sisi's goal. While still a terrible defeat for Osasuna, the third goal brought back a glimpse of hope for them. A small light at the end of the tunnel that they can actually reach as long as they come out to the Bernabeu with confidence and motivation instead of relying on Guillermo to do everything.

CA Osasuna (B-Team) 2 - 1 Malaga CF
MAL: Zungu 45'
OSA: Olavide 69' Davila 88'
The B-Team really struggled against Malaga and even more to get a ball past the shot stopper Guillermo Ochoa. Osasuna really needed the three points though and they gave it their all to push forward, but the visitors hit first with a goal from Zungu after a series of rebounds in the box right before halftime. It was Chavez's frustration was evident, especially after the big defeat against Real Madrid, but his players finally reacted in the 69th minute. Ochoa had sent a powerful shot from Ulises Davila to the corner, and youth graduate Luis Martinez positioned himself to take it. No movement inside the box until Martinez lifted his right arm. The players began to move in from the edge of the box with Miguel Olavide sprinting to the near post. Martinez sent in a corner that curved towards the center, and Olavide dove to reach it, heading it into the back of the net!


A great goal from Olavide as it was against the Mexican national team goalkeeper, but also because this was Osasuna's first ever pre-organized corner kick goal. Both teams continued to fight for the lead but neither could get ahead. The fans at El Sadar didn't stop cheering their players on until they all tensed up in the 88th minute. The referee had called a foul in favor of Osasuna within scoring distance, and it was Ulises Davila who asked for the ball. Davila against Ochoa, two players fighting for a spot in the upcoming World Cup with Mexico, were now head to head with everybody knowing Davila was going for a shot. Davila made his run, curled the ball around the wall without much height, and the ball made it all the way to the back of the net! Impossible for Ochoa to reach as it went in tight to the post!


That was the lead for Osasuna and with only two minutes left to play they were able to secure the victory. With this result Osasuna continue to fight in the top part of the table and are now just one more victory away from the league leadership thanks to that free kick goal from Davila!

LB - Alejandro Grimaldo (Spain) (74 OVR 22yrs)
Purchased From FC Barcelona B for $14m
The Valencian born defender started his career with Valencia's youth academy before moving to Barcelona's youth system at aged 13. He made his debut with Barcelona's FC Barcelona B at age 15 becoming the youngest player to debut in the Liga Adelante, and he's been there ever since. In Chavez's first season with Osasuna, Grimaldo had demanded a transfer as he wanted to leave Liga Adelante and prove himself with in a top tier league. Barcelona refused to let him go though with the promise that he would be in their senior team one day. The day never came though, and three years later he was still with Barcelona B. Chavez saw this as an opportunity and offered the player the chance he's been waiting for. Although Barcelona B were firm with their price tag, there were no complications with Grimaldo's negotiations and the player put pen to paper as soon as it was handed to him. Osasuna haven't had a natural LB in the First Team since Chavez's first season in which he had Cadamuro on loan. Since then Sisi, naturally a RM, has been playing LB. Grimaldo is an ideal player to take that starting LB spot in place of Sisi, because although he is a natural LB he has the characteristics of a winger. Barcelona B have even used him as a CM with much success. A versatile player who is just as excited to be at Osasuna as they are excited to have him. Grimaldo will also be joining his former Barcelona B teammate Xavier Quinti, who transferred to Osasuna in Chavez's first season and after three loan spells is now a B-Team starter.

Copa Del Rey - Quarter Final (2nd Leg)
Real Madrid vs CA Osasuna
The first 90 minutes of the Quarter Final have gone by, and for Osasuna it is all uphill from here. Los Rojillos were unable to use their home field advantage in the first leg and they fell to an astonishing 5-3 scoreline in favor of Real Madrid. The only way Osasuna will be able to advance is by winning by three goals. Winning by two goals will not be enough, unless they score a total of 5 goals in which case they would void Real Madrid's five away goals advantage. Defeating Real Madrid by 3 goals won't be easy, especially at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Chavez's Osasuna have proven that they can swim against current when they came back in the Champions League and advanced to the next round earlier this season. Alejandro Grimaldo has been announced in the starting lineup replacing Sisi who is now on the bench. This match has loads of pressure behind it; debuting Grimaldo in it could really backfire for Chavez.

Chavez made more changes in his lineup tonight which surprised more than a few of us. Federico Palacios (71 OVR), who has been a starter for Osasuna's First Team all season, was sent to the bench for this game and to replace him in the starting eleven came the Mexican Ulises Davila (72 OVR). This also sparked a formation change, with Chavez dropping the 4-1-3-2 that allowed Madrid to score five goals and instead came out with a 4-2-3-1. Davila started as CAM behind Guillermo (ST). Another change was the absence of the veteran goalkeeper Asier Riesgo (75 OVR) who came out on the bench. Mexican goalkeeper Jose Antonio Rodriguez (74 OVR) replaced him in goal. A risky move by Chavez. If Riesgo wasn't able to stop Madrid from scoring 5 goals, how will Rodriguez do? Everything else remained the same. The fans were happy to see Davila in the starting sheet and his name was applauded when it was announced in the stadium. As soon as the starting whistle blew Osasuna pushed forward, and just five minutes into the match Ulises Davila put his mark on the game by using his technical dribbling to beat Pepe inside the box, and force Pepe to make an inaccurate tackle. Davila went to ground and the referee called a penalty in favor of Osasuna! Roberto Torres came up to take the penalty kick against Iker Casillas. Captain vs Captain, and in the end the Basque triumphed over the Castilian! Torres sent the ball to the right and Casillas guessed it right, but Torres had aimed for the top right corner and the ball flew in over Casillas' dive!

Real Madrid 0 - 1 CA Osasuna

A great start for Osasuna who want to make a comeback today, and that early penalty goal was perfect for a motivation boost. Had Torres missed it, it could have had a negative impact on the rest of the squad. The match was much more balanced than the first leg with Osasuna's 4-2-3-1 finding spaces and Davila showing off in midfield every time he received the ball. Osasuna needed just two more goals to complete their comeback, but in the 20th minute the Santiago Bernabeu exploded in cheer as their star man Cristiano Ronaldo caused havoc inside Osasuna's box and then powered the ball into the net off a deflection from a defender. Real Madrid had equalized the scoreline. The home fans celebrated the goal that put them even closer to the cup Semifinals.

Real Madrid 1 - 1 CA Osasuna
OSA: Torres PEN 5'
REA: Ronaldo 20'

The goal hit hard back in Pamplona because it meant that Osasuna now had to score four goals, not just three. Regardless, Los Rojillos kept pushing forward, refusing to go down without a fight. They really wanted the Copa Del Rey, but the only thing keeping them away from the Semis was Iker Casillas who was having an amazing game as expected. The Osasuna fans had a reason to celebrate again in the 37th minute as Jose Campaña put Davila through on goal down the left side of the box. The fans rose to their feet encouraging Davila to shoot first time. He did not though, instead he cut in to his right side and took the shot with his weak foot. The shot went low and strong past Casillas, hit the post and went in!! Osasuna were 2-1 up!!

Real Madrid 1 - 2 CA Osasuna
OSA: Torres PEN 5' Davila 37'
REA: Ronaldo 20'

The match went to halftime at 2-1 and Osasuna were just two goals away from stepping into the semifinals. Both teams came out after the break with the same intensity with Real Madrid realizing that this match was getting out of hand. Iker Casillas continued his amazing form in goal and fifteen minutes into the second half he made an incredible save off Guillermo's shot and sent the ball to the corner. Roberto Torres prepared to take the corner kick, and as soon as he saw his teammates make their runs in the box he sent the ball in with a curve away from goal. Jose Campaña sprinted to the near post where he met with the cross and headed the ball towards the net! Casillas wasn't able to react and his near post man wasn't able to reach it either; the ball went in!! Osasuna had scored their third goal!! It was 3-1 now!

Osasuna were just ONE goal away from the semifinals now and there was still about thirty minutes left to play! The fans at the Bernabeu now had worried faces and Ancelloti looked to his bench for options. This match was definitely out of hand now. Osasuna kept pushing and pushing trying to get past Casillas again but the Spanish goalkeeper was adamant that he was not going to let in another goal again. The Basques had already put in three past him so it was not something impossible, they just needed to find the right opportunity to do it again. We had just passed the 75th minute mark when Roberto Torres sent Jose Campaña a through ball as Campaña made a run from behind trying to catch the defensive line off guard. Torres' pass was perfect and Campaña controlled the ball at the edge of the box, and with his second touch took an astonishing shot on goal which soared into the top left corner of the net!!!! Osasuna had done it!! Campaña had just scored one of the best and most influential goals of his career in the 76th minute and was giving his team the pass to the Semifinal!! As the team ran to celebrate they looked down at the linesman. A flag was raised. The linesman raised his flag for offsides and the referee voided the goal. Cheers all around the stadium as this meant Real Madrid still had a foot in the Semifinal for the time being but the away fans couldn't believe it. Once we reviewed the replay there were no more doubts, Campaña was offside. Only slightly, but still offside. A big blow for the Osasuna bench but there was still enough time for another goal. We were surprised to see Real Madrid fall back completely to defend the 3-1 scoreline once we crossed into the last ten minutes of the match. They did not want to risk another goal again. Osasuna were completely on top trying to get that fourth goal that would put them through, but then the worst happened in the 90th minute. Real Madrid found space on the right wing to push forward in a slow, sort of counter attack. They put a cross into the box that Gareth Bale managed to beat his marker Romeu and head the ball towards goal. Rodriguez got his hand to it and forced the ball to hit the crossbar, but the ball bounced off the crossbar and went directly towards Gareth Bale again who just had to head the ball one more time without even jumping, and the ball went into the open net.

Real Madrid 2 - 3 CA Osasuna

There it was. Gareth Bale had just scored the goal that put Los Merengues in the semifinal with a rebound. With this result Osasuna had to score 2 more goals and there was not enough time. The referee added on 5 more minutes but even that wasn't long enough. Osasuna kept pushing forward but it was all over. Real Madrid have advanced to the semifinals and are clear favorites for the title, while Osasuna return home with yet another disappointment in the Copa Del Rey.

FC Barcelona 1 - 1 CA Osasuna

A win today could have put Osasuna tied with Real Madrid for first place on the league table, but Barcelona refused to be beat. A few changes in Chavez's First Team, with Ulises Davila returning to the bench due to fatigue and Federico Palacios returning to the starting eleven. Asier Riesgo was on the bench again and Rodriguez started in goal. The formation also changed as Chavez decided not to field the 4-1-3-2 that allowed five goals from Real Madrid and instead came out with a 4-4-2 Holding, a formation that has not been used by Chavez since the beginning of the season. Also, Alejandro Grimaldo made his second start for his club. He's truly had a memorable start to his Osasuna career, first playing against Real Madrid and now playing against his former colors FC Barcelona. Osasuna's winning mentality showed as with just eight minutes into the match they took the lead after Jose Campaña sent Guillermo a through ball to anticipate his run in behind. Guillermo controlled the ball with one touch inside the box and then fired the ball into the bottom left corner. Claudio Bravo was just a fraction of a second late to reaching it.


Osasuna's 4-4-2 had Barcelona on the wall for the majority of the second half with Campaña and Darder taking ownership of midfield. Although the team may be getting outplayed, Barcelona has players that can create chances for themselves and it showed with Luis Suarez stepping into the right side of the box and then striking it into the far post to equalize. Osasuna kept control of the match after the halftime break but they weren't able to take the lead. Osasuna had 8 shots on target out of 12 shots taken, but Claudio Bravo played an amazing match.

Youth academy graduate Luis Martinez really stepped up this month going from a future prospect from the youth academy to a current key player. His incredible performances with the B-Team earned him more chances with the First Team off the bench. He is now one of the most important players for the B-Team along with Ulises Davila and it is evident that he may be one of the most talented players in the entire squad. He dribbles and passes like if he was born with a football, making him a different player from the rest of the team. If at 17 years old he's playing this well, we can only imagine how amazing he will become in the future. This kid could receive a call to the Spanish national team tomorrow and nobody would question it, although it is highly unlikely he would be called up at this time.

Alex Garcia - CB (Mexico) (59-63, 80-86) (+14): The first and only CB in the academy, and with Miguel Flaño reaching the end of his era I am very anxious to see more reports on him. At 16 years old he stands at 6'2", and is considered Physically Strong. A perfect combination for a CB.

Antonio Lopes - LB (Spain) (39-41, 78-84): Lopes is the first and only LB in the academy and of course the club has high hopes as it is a position that the senior team lacks depth in. The current first team LB is Sisi who is naturally a RM and is reaching his mid thirties. Lopes is only 15 and stands at 5'2" but is described as a Winger, which leads us to believe that he will be an attacking fullback.

Chris Cropper - GK (United States) (62-66, 79-85) (+13): The third American goalkeeper to join the Youth Academy. At 17 years old he stands at 6'3" and his game is well balanced so far.

Ivan Miranda - LW (Spain) (64-68, 81-87) (+6): The 16 year old has decided that the wing is where he is most comfortable with, and is a candidate for promotion in the future. He is quite short, standing at 5'9", but that isn't a problem since we will need him for speed not necessarily for his aerial ability.

Jorge Asenjo - ST (Spain) (52-56, 81-87): Really high hopes for the 16 year old striker seeing as the senior team's only natural strikers are Guillermo and Palacios. Kodro has delivered great results but is only 65 OVR. Asenjo seems to be a future star, but appears to be more of a creative striker, since he stands at only 5'7" and is described as a Winger.

Mario Santana - ST (Mexico) (62-66, 83-89) (+13): Really excited to see future reports on this kid from Mexico. He's described as "Physically Strong" and you know how much I like to play with a target man. The downside is that he's only 5'3", but he's still 15 years old so I'm hoping he'll grow closer to the 6 foot range.
*Santana has just turned 16 and is now eligible to play in La Liga. I'm a bit disappointed that his height only grew to 5'10 as I really wanted a target man, but he is Physically Strong so he should be a good striker nonetheless.*

Pedro Ramirez - RB (Spain) (63-67, 82-88): Even though I use overlapping fullbacks, it wouldn't hurt to have a natural fullback in the squad since right now I'm using a RW at RB with my first team. Ramirez is currently 15 years old and stands at 5'6". Depending on how much he grows in height I might even be able to use him at CB.

Victor Soriano - CDM (Spain) (53-57, 89-94): Really looking forward to this player. Similar qualities to the B-Team's Vinuesa Ramos, but not as tall with a 6'1" height. He may not be as sluggish thanks to his lower height though so I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do in the future.

January Headlines

Bigas Stays!
Pedro Bigas had a tough start to his Osasuna career, and at the end of last season it was presumed he would leave the club this summer. Surprisingly he was not transferred to another club, but he hardly made any appearances. As the January transfer window came near, it became official that Bigas had personally asked Chavez to put him on the transfer list as he wanted to go to a team that would play him more. In the end it was Sergi Gomez who was transfer listed and sold this month, while Bigas was not put on the list at all. In the games leading up to January Bigas had become the starting LCB for the B-Team while Gomez was sent to the reserves. Bigas has also made appearances as a substitute for the First Team as a defensive midfielder. However, the player is still unhappy and was disappointed not to be sold.

Copa Del Rey
After eliminating Osasuna the clear favorites for the title are Real Madrid. All of the teams from the upper side of the table have been eliminated with only Real Madrid remaining. The first leg of the semifinals have been played already with Granada forcing Atletico Madrid to a 0-0 draw. Real Madrid hosted Athletic Bilbao, and completely demolished them with a 5-0 victory. Needless to say, Real Madrid are technically in the final already with one leg left to play.


Conclusion
I can't even describe how pissed I was to be so close to making a historic comeback in the Copa Del Rey, only to be eliminated by a last minute rebound goal. A REBOUND goal!! Of all types of goals that could be scored it was a rebound goal that took me out. He didn't even have to work for that rebound goal either! He literally stayed in the exact same spot when he headed the ball the first time. The ball hit the post and literally bounced back exactly to where he was standing and he barely had to make any neck movement to head it back to the net. Man I was so pissed. I guess I'll have to wait another year to win the cup.

On the brighter side of this month I'm really happy with my only signing. His stats resemble a LM more than a LB so I was worried about how he would do in the back but he played well in his two matches this month. I think in the future I would like to have Grimaldo playing LM, with Quinti playing LB since Quinti also has good potential and is more defensive minded than Grimaldo. What I also like about Quinti is that even though he's more defensive minded, he's good at overlapping and has much to offer up front.

I was able to get rid of all the players j had on my transfer/loan list except one. Our recent youth graduate Alex Silva Gavan did not receive any loan offers so he will have to finish off the season with us. He will continue to be a part of the reserves (B-Team bench) but I'll try to include him as much as I can with substitute appearances.

That's it for this month. Sorry for the length of the update but I just felt like there was so much going on. Next month we will receive Chelsea at El Sadar for the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 so I'm really looking forward to telling you guys about it. Also a post-January squad list will be up soon in the next couple of days.

At least you made a decent profit on Gomez! And got two of your players loaned out. Hopefully this'll get Nono to start growing. Shame you couldn't get your other youth player loaned. Good to see that you'll give him as much time as you can though. Grimaldo is also a nice signing, Sisi's replacement I take it? $14m is a big hefty but I guess you could've gotten him for $6-8m if you wanted. (Which I know you didn't.)

You rolled over Barca B in the cup before those two intense games with Real. Unfortunately you just couldn't have been that little bit more solid in the 1st leg. Props for not giving up though and I really thought the comeback was on and going to happen while I was reading. BTW I like the detail, as I've said before although 2 pics per game would be a good limit. League form was good, aside from the shock loss to Almeria. You took care of Valladolid and Malaga fairly well and a point against Barca is a good result, sucks that you could have gone joint top though with a win. How are Martinez' physical stats growing? Or is it just his technical & mental ones making his Ovr go up?

With only one right back on the roster coming in to the season, it made sense that Berhalter was looking for one to bring it. Olufemi is a young player out of the Colchester academy. He is a very quick defender, who shows some promising ability to get forward as well as defend. He will be useful as an overlapping player who provides support as the attack builds up.

CB, Paddy NcNair, 62 OVR, 19 yrs old - Loaned from Manchester United


After sending Webster and Whatmough out on loan, Berhalter brought in two defenders to add depth to the position. First, Paddy McNair is an academy project out of Manchester United. He has show a lot of potential at center back, and has already received call ups to Northern Ireland. A year with Portsmouth should do a lot of good for the development of the player.

RB, Jack Grimmer, 59 OVR, 20 yrs old - Loaned from Fulham FC


Another depth addition to fill in at the weak right back spot. With the purchase of Olufemi, Grimmer will be a temporary back up option to split time with him. He is one of the many prospects at Fulham right now, and with their recent relegation he was going to have trouble breaking into the line up as they fight their way back to the Premier League.

CB, Joseph Gomez, 56 OVR, 17 yrs old - Loaned from Charlton Athletic


Joe Gomez is a versatile defender out of Charlton Athletic who can play both in the center and outside of the defense. His quickness should make him a good choice to partner with any of the other center backs and should complement their style well. A good year at Portsmouth could go a long way for his future at Charlton.

Man really looking forward to this! I wouldn't call myself a fan of any team other than Guadalajara, but Hamburg is a team I've always had a soft spot for. Great kits, great history, and a terrible reality at present. If I would ever make a career in the German first division it would be with them. I really like their squad too and it's good players, but for some reason they just haven't been able to click together and get rid of the relegation horror. Nice choice with the manager too! Thanks! When I was reading back on the thread I saw that you always suggested Hamburg but nobody did them. So I said why not? Their situation this year and last year also pushed me over the edge considering the challenged for Europe in the 12/13 season. They also have nice kits, a stadium and a good squad, as you said. I'm glad you liked the video! He is a character alright. I actually only decided to be him after I started the career so I think my manager is English in game. Hi Guys

Sorry for there being no update in the last two weeks and here's why:

Firstly the first week I didn't have my xbox available due to living arrangements.

The second week I had my xbox available however, I broke my knuckle on the Tuesday playing basketball. I orginally thought it was a jarred finger so I didn't go straight to hospital. On Thursday night it started hurting alot so I went and found out it was broken. Now I have a cast on and couldn't play all weekend. I go back on Thursday and I hope I get a plastic cast so I can kind of move my hand but I know what will happen. Also I can't play any sport for SIX WEEKS!!!

About that I'm thinking about putting on hold my Birmingham City Career Mode and starting another. Reasons being that I have made it unrealistic with us coming second and gaining automatic promotion and then using the finacial takeover. Also kind of replayed matches when losing games I thought I should of won.

So I have a few teams I want to do. But will decide when I can use my hand again.


Cruzerr: Losing is apart of life you need to lose some to win some. So if it's from losing a play around street football or a cup final. Take it on board and use it for positives in the future.


Indi: Always very sad to see close items to you lost. But the attitude you have had is awesome. Looking forward to the Parma Career Mode and hope you can turn them around to what they use to be.


Keano: Kind of the same as Indi but with more money, I'm a Liverpool supporter and he wasn't the best to us but I kind of like Roy Keane's give no f**k, Tough attiude. And should get Hamburg winning.

The first of two unofficial tryouts for Barcelona B's Grimaldo who is rumored to be linked to Osasuna, and while the LB looked good going forward he had a tough time trying to stop David Ferreiro who was making his first start for the B-Team. Both wings were having difficulties though, with Osasuna causing havoc with their wingers but, without a tall striker in the box most of their crosses went to waste. They didn't have another choice though as Barcelona B defended really well down the middle and prevented Ulises Davila to cause any damage with the ball at his feet. It wasn't until the second half that Osasuna finally displayed their dominance of the match on the scoreline when two first touch passes between Ramos and Olavide put the ball at Luis Martinez's feet with his back towards goal. Martinez used a quick feint to go around his marker and end up being alone with the goal in front of him. Martinez did not hesitate and he blasted the ball into the net with too much power leaving the goalkeeper with no chance to react correctly. The youth graduate had put Osasuna ahead!


Not only can he score goals, he can assist them as well and the playmaker proved it in the 72nd minute. Martinez spotted Marcos Alonso making a run inside from the left wing and he sent him a perfect through ball to the box. Alonso hit the ball first time and the goalkeeper wasn't even able to react to the low shot. Osasuna had just taken a step into the next round!


Since his team had been dominating the wings, Chavez brought on Kenan Kodro to take advantage of the abundance of crosses, but he took out David Ferreiro as well. Julian Luque replaced Ferreiro on the wing and Alejandro Grimaldo had no problems from then on as he completely disarmed Luque. Osasuna had a comfortably lead though and even though Luque couldn't penetrate Barcelona's defense, he helped to hold ball possession and ride the clock.

Almeria 1 - 0 CA Osasuna

Los Rojillos really missed Guillermo tonight with their star striker being out with a sprained ankle. Chavez made the right choice in having Ulises Davila, the team's top scorer behind Guillermo, play for the injured man but Chavez's mistake was not altering the formation. Chavez had his team come out with the same 4-1-3-2 using Davila and Palacios up front as strikers, and this cost him the match. Neither Davila nor Palacios were able to do much up front, and with two short strikers attacking down the wings was useless. The team had defended well up until Almeria's Azeez scored the only goal of the match off a rebound in the 52nd minute, and Osasuna weren't able to make a comeback. Guillermo came on for the last ten minutes of the match but by that time Almeria had parked the bus and there was nothing even he could do.

Copa Del Rey - Round of 16 (2nd Leg)
FC Barcelona B 1 (1) - (3) 1 CA Osasuna
FCB: Halilovic 45'
OSA: Davila 50'
Tonight we saw a completely different Barcelona B compared to the first leg. This Barcelona B dominated, attracted, and at moments it truly looked like they were going to make a comeback. The same 22 players came out on the field, but today Barcelona B really sorted out their fullbacks which were their weak points in the first leg. Their midfield controlled possession, their defense kept the box safe and secure, and as the minutes went on in the first half we knew it was only a matter of time before they scored. Osasuna were completely pushed back, and the only thing keeping them alive was the fabulous work from their goalkeeper Jose Antonio Rodriguez. Barcelona's Halilovic finally got the goal they deserved in the 45th minute and the home fans erupted in cheer. At halftime, Barcelona B needed just one more goal to tie the aggregate. Ulises Davila shut them down just five minutes into the second half though, receiving a pass from Luis Martinez and then breaking free from the defenders with an incredible individual play. Davila showed off his dribbling skills to get into the edge of the box and then took a powerful shot before the rest of the defense closed in on him. The goalkeeper wasn't able to reach it and it was virtually all over now. Osasuna's away goal meant that Barca B now needed three more goals to go through.


Needless to say, Barca B weren't able to complete their comeback and thus were eliminated from the competition. Osasuna have advanced to the Copa Del Rey Quarter Finals!!

Copa Del Rey Update
Barcelona B had made a great run in the competition and it would've been amazing to see Barcelona's B side reach the final stages of the cup, but they were eliminated by Osasuna. They weren't the only Catalan side to be eliminated though, as the top flight's very own FC Barcelona were also eliminated. Barcelona was eliminated by Athletic Bilbao, meaning that both Barcelona's were knocked out by Basque sides. The Quarter Final fixtures have been announced and the surprise draw is that Osasuna will face Real Madrid, the team that defeated them in the 2014/15 Copa Del Rey Final. The winner of this fixture will definitely be the favorites for the title with FC Barcelona already being eliminated.

Real Valladolid 0 - 3 CA Osasuna

Osasuna and Valladolid were both promoted from Liga Adelante in the same season and the two managers developed a rather heated rivalry, but today both teams face a different reality. Osasuna, the current champions of the Europa League, fight at the top of the table hoping to grasp the league title while Valladolid hang just 2 points away from relegation zone. The rivalry still stands though and even though the referee had barely blown the starting whistle we were already treated to some hard tackles in midfield. All tackles had been clean until the 9th minute when a foul was called in favor of Osasuna 29 yards out from goal. Roberto Torres asked for the ball and at that distance we thought he would try to set up a scoring chance for his teammates, but instead he surprised us all and took his shot, which curved around the defensive wall and found its way to the top corner of the net!


An unbelievable goal from far out that put Osasuna in the lead just 10 minutes into the match. The Basques were motivated now, and just seven minutes later they found the net again! This time Jose Campaña had drifted wide to the right and made a run down the edge of the box shouting for the ball. Torres passed it to him, and without thinking twice Campaña put in a short cross into the box where Guillermo connected with a powerful header at short distance. That kind of power and at that distance there was no chance the goalkeeper was ever going to reach it.


With the comfortable lead Osasuna took the liberty of enjoying their time on the ball and simply passed the ball around the field, playing attractive football for the away fans but frustrating the home side. We went all the way to the ninetieth minute with the 2-0 scoreline until Federico Palacios passed the ball to Guillermo inside the box, and the star striker got rid of his marker with his footwork and then took a shot on goal with his outside toes. The ball curved away from the goalkeeper and went into the net, completing Osasuna's dominance on the field.


A big win for Osasuna that further displays the two team's distinct present. Osasuna go into their next match extremely confident thanks to this result.

Copa Del Rey - Quarterfinal (1st Leg)
CA Osasuna vs Real Madrid
Los Rojillos believe this is their year to finally lift the Copa Del Rey, but their biggest obstacle is the same team that tore the cup from their hands three years ago: Real Madrid. In the league the two teams finished with a 1-1 scoreline at the Santiago Bernabeu, but this time they will be facing each other at El Sadar, a stadium that went over a year and a half without seeing Osasuna lose in the league. It has not had the same influence in cup tournaments, but we know it can. The fans have shown what they are capable of in the past. Chavez made one change to his starting lineup today, with the B-Team's Xavier Quinti replacing Sisi at LB due to fatigue. Even though Sisi is an attack minded player, he's always had huge success in disarming Real Madrid's wingers. With the inclusion of a natural defender like Xavier Quinti, we presume Chavez wants to play it safe on the wings without much overlapping.

Totally not what we were expecting. Not what we were expecting at all. The referee had just barely blown the starting whistle, fans weren't even in their seats yet, and Los Merengues were already celebrating the first goal of the match. Robert Lewandowski took a shot from outside the box that soared at mid height and somehow caught Riesgo off guard. The goal wasn't Osasuna's biggest worry, Real Madrid were completely running the show today. When the two teams faced each other last month the midfield was very balanced, but today Madrid's 4-3-3 had completely overrun Osasuna's 4-1-3-2. They moved the ball freely around the edges of Osasuna's box and in the 28th minute Gareth Bale took advantage of a defensive error to fire in a shot from inside the box that of course had too much power behind it for Riesgo to react in time. 2-0 for Real Madrid and Osasuna showed no signs of getting back into it. After the halftime break Chavez made some changes by going out with a 4-3-3 Attack instead of the 4-1-3-2. Just two minutes into the second half, just two minutes of running the 4-3-3, Osasuna had life again. Jose Campaña saw Isma Lopez making a run into the box and he sent him a long ball from the heart of midfield. Lopez brought the ball down but Madrid's Carvajal stole the ball away from him, but he didn't see Guillermo running in from behind him! Guillermo sneaked past Carvajal and took a shot on goal with his outside right foot without thinking twice about it and even though he received a hard tackle from Carvajal the ball made it into the bottom corner of the net! Osasuna were alive!! The Basques were back in it!!


Real Madrid's youth graduate Casemiro silenced the home fans' celebrations just seven minutes later by putting a third goal past Riesgo, but the Basques still had hope. Real Madrid were given a corner kick in the 68th minute and as the ball came into the box Asier Riesgo shouted that it was his ball. He came in to intercept it but when the ball came down he didn't jump! He didn't even try to catch the ball. Instead he crouched down like if there was a low shot inside the box that nobody else saw. Isco beat his marker in the air and headed the ball into the open net. 4-1 for Madrid and this was over already. Even Chavez looked at his watch hoping this would end soon. Osasuna tried to get back into the game and Real Madrid tried to hit back with counter attacks. During one of their counter attacks the German international Sami Khedira actually managed to dribble into the box and then take a shot on goal that of course Riesgo wasn't able to save either. Even Khedira had scored! 5-1 for Real Madrid and this was a slaughter now. A humiliating defeat for Osasuna and Chavez who would have thrown the towel by now if he could. Not everybody had lost hope though. Just five minutes after Khedira's goal Guillermo received a pass from Palacios in Madrid's half. Guillermo had enough space to turn around and engage Pepe one on one. Guillermo began to show off his dribbling skills with a cut to the right, then to the left, then to the right again, and at that point Pepe finally gave in and tried to tackle the ball away but missed! Guillermo now had all the space to run into the box with no other defender in sight and he powered a shot past Casillas with his outside foot again!


Guillermo had taken matters into his own hands and scored a second goal for Osasuna, but it was more of a consolation goal at this point. After the goal Chavez took Palacios off, who had been playing a terrible match, and replaced him with the youth graduate Luis Martinez. Martinez had just five minutes to do something, anything to bring hope back to Osasuna. Well he only needed four as he spotted Sisi, who had also come on in the second half for Lopez since he was too fatigued to start, running in behind his marker on the left and he sent him a long through ball down the wing. Sisi controlled the ball, cut into the box, dribbled past Sergio Ramos causing Ramos to crash into Coentrao who was chasing Sisi, and then strike the ball hard between Casillas and the near post and scored! Sisi had scored the third goal for Osasuna!


There wasn't much time to play anymore and the referee ended what became a fabulous match not long after Sisi's goal. While still a terrible defeat for Osasuna, the third goal brought back a glimpse of hope for them. A small light at the end of the tunnel that they can actually reach as long as they come out to the Bernabeu with confidence and motivation instead of relying on Guillermo to do everything.

CA Osasuna (B-Team) 2 - 1 Malaga CF

The B-Team really struggled against Malaga and even more to get a ball past the shot stopper Guillermo Ochoa. Osasuna really needed the three points though and they gave it their all to push forward, but the visitors hit first with a goal from Zungu after a series of rebounds in the box right before halftime. It was Chavez's frustration was evident, especially after the big defeat against Real Madrid, but his players finally reacted in the 69th minute. Ochoa had sent a powerful shot from Ulises Davila to the corner, and youth graduate Luis Martinez positioned himself to take it. No movement inside the box until Martinez lifted his right arm. The players began to move in from the edge of the box with Miguel Olavide sprinting to the near post. Martinez sent in a corner that curved towards the center, and Olavide dove to reach it, heading it into the back of the net!


A great goal from Olavide as it was against the Mexican national team goalkeeper, but also because this was Osasuna's first ever pre-organized corner kick goal. Both teams continued to fight for the lead but neither could get ahead. The fans at El Sadar didn't stop cheering their players on until they all tensed up in the 88th minute. The referee had called a foul in favor of Osasuna within scoring distance, and it was Ulises Davila who asked for the ball. Davila against Ochoa, two players fighting for a spot in the upcoming World Cup with Mexico, were now head to head with everybody knowing Davila was going for a shot. Davila made his run, curled the ball around the wall without much height, and the ball made it all the way to the back of the net! Impossible for Ochoa to reach as it went in tight to the post!


That was the lead for Osasuna and with only two minutes left to play they were able to secure the victory. With this result Osasuna continue to fight in the top part of the table and are now just one more victory away from the league leadership thanks to that free kick goal from Davila!

LB - Alejandro Grimaldo (Spain) (74 OVR 22yrs)
Purchased From FC Barcelona B for $14m
The Valencian born defender started his career with Valencia's youth academy before moving to Barcelona's youth system at aged 13. He made his debut with Barcelona's FC Barcelona B at age 15 becoming the youngest player to debut in the Liga Adelante, and he's been there ever since. In Chavez's first season with Osasuna, Grimaldo had demanded a transfer as he wanted to leave Liga Adelante and prove himself with in a top tier league. Barcelona refused to let him go though with the promise that he would be in their senior team one day. The day never came though, and three years later he was still with Barcelona B. Chavez saw this as an opportunity and offered the player the chance he's been waiting for. Although Barcelona B were firm with their price tag, there were no complications with Grimaldo's negotiations and the player put pen to paper as soon as it was handed to him. Osasuna haven't had a natural LB in the First Team since Chavez's first season in which he had Cadamuro on loan. Since then Sisi, naturally a RM, has been playing LB. Grimaldo is an ideal player to take that starting LB spot in place of Sisi, because although he is a natural LB he has the characteristics of a winger. Barcelona B have even used him as a CM with much success. A versatile player who is just as excited to be at Osasuna as they are excited to have him. Grimaldo will also be joining his former Barcelona B teammate Xavier Quinti, who transferred to Osasuna in Chavez's first season and after three loan spells is now a B-Team starter.

Copa Del Rey - Quarter Final (2nd Leg)
Real Madrid vs CA Osasuna
The first 90 minutes of the Quarter Final have gone by, and for Osasuna it is all uphill from here. Los Rojillos were unable to use their home field advantage in the first leg and they fell to an astonishing 5-3 scoreline in favor of Real Madrid. The only way Osasuna will be able to advance is by winning by three goals. Winning by two goals will not be enough, unless they score a total of 5 goals in which case they would void Real Madrid's five away goals advantage. Defeating Real Madrid by 3 goals won't be easy, especially at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Chavez's Osasuna have proven that they can swim against current when they came back in the Champions League and advanced to the next round earlier this season. Alejandro Grimaldo has been announced in the starting lineup replacing Sisi who is now on the bench. This match has loads of pressure behind it; debuting Grimaldo in it could really backfire for Chavez.

Chavez made more changes in his lineup tonight which surprised more than a few of us. Federico Palacios (71 OVR), who has been a starter for Osasuna's First Team all season, was sent to the bench for this game and to replace him in the starting eleven came the Mexican Ulises Davila (72 OVR). This also sparked a formation change, with Chavez dropping the 4-1-3-2 that allowed Madrid to score five goals and instead came out with a 4-2-3-1. Davila started as CAM behind Guillermo (ST). Another change was the absence of the veteran goalkeeper Asier Riesgo (75 OVR) who came out on the bench. Mexican goalkeeper Jose Antonio Rodriguez (74 OVR) replaced him in goal. A risky move by Chavez. If Riesgo wasn't able to stop Madrid from scoring 5 goals, how will Rodriguez do? Everything else remained the same. The fans were happy to see Davila in the starting sheet and his name was applauded when it was announced in the stadium. As soon as the starting whistle blew Osasuna pushed forward, and just five minutes into the match Ulises Davila put his mark on the game by using his technical dribbling to beat Pepe inside the box, and force Pepe to make an inaccurate tackle. Davila went to ground and the referee called a penalty in favor of Osasuna! Roberto Torres came up to take the penalty kick against Iker Casillas. Captain vs Captain, and in the end the Basque triumphed over the Castilian! Torres sent the ball to the right and Casillas guessed it right, but Torres had aimed for the top right corner and the ball flew in over Casillas' dive!

Real Madrid 0 - 1 CA Osasuna

A great start for Osasuna who want to make a comeback today, and that early penalty goal was perfect for a motivation boost. Had Torres missed it, it could have had a negative impact on the rest of the squad. The match was much more balanced than the first leg with Osasuna's 4-2-3-1 finding spaces and Davila showing off in midfield every time he received the ball. Osasuna needed just two more goals to complete their comeback, but in the 20th minute the Santiago Bernabeu exploded in cheer as their star man Cristiano Ronaldo caused havoc inside Osasuna's box and then powered the ball into the net off a deflection from a defender. Real Madrid had equalized the scoreline. The home fans celebrated the goal that put them even closer to the cup Semifinals.

The goal hit hard back in Pamplona because it meant that Osasuna now had to score four goals, not just three. Regardless, Los Rojillos kept pushing forward, refusing to go down without a fight. They really wanted the Copa Del Rey, but the only thing keeping them away from the Semis was Iker Casillas who was having an amazing game as expected. The Osasuna fans had a reason to celebrate again in the 37th minute as Jose Campaña put Davila through on goal down the left side of the box. The fans rose to their feet encouraging Davila to shoot first time. He did not though, instead he cut in to his right side and took the shot with his weak foot. The shot went low and strong past Casillas, hit the post and went in!! Osasuna were 2-1 up!!

Real Madrid 1 - 2 CA Osasuna

The match went to halftime at 2-1 and Osasuna were just two goals away from stepping into the semifinals. Both teams came out after the break with the same intensity with Real Madrid realizing that this match was getting out of hand. Iker Casillas continued his amazing form in goal and fifteen minutes into the second half he made an incredible save off Guillermo's shot and sent the ball to the corner. Roberto Torres prepared to take the corner kick, and as soon as he saw his teammates make their runs in the box he sent the ball in with a curve away from goal. Jose Campaña sprinted to the near post where he met with the cross and headed the ball towards the net! Casillas wasn't able to react and his near post man wasn't able to reach it either; the ball went in!! Osasuna had scored their third goal!! It was 3-1 now!

Osasuna were just ONE goal away from the semifinals now and there was still about thirty minutes left to play! The fans at the Bernabeu now had worried faces and Ancelloti looked to his bench for options. This match was definitely out of hand now. Osasuna kept pushing and pushing trying to get past Casillas again but the Spanish goalkeeper was adamant that he was not going to let in another goal again. The Basques had already put in three past him so it was not something impossible, they just needed to find the right opportunity to do it again. We had just passed the 75th minute mark when Roberto Torres sent Jose Campaña a through ball as Campaña made a run from behind trying to catch the defensive line off guard. Torres' pass was perfect and Campaña controlled the ball at the edge of the box, and with his second touch took an astonishing shot on goal which soared into the top left corner of the net!!!! Osasuna had done it!! Campaña had just scored one of the best and most influential goals of his career in the 76th minute and was giving his team the pass to the Semifinal!! As the team ran to celebrate they looked down at the linesman. A flag was raised. The linesman raised his flag for offsides and the referee voided the goal. Cheers all around the stadium as this meant Real Madrid still had a foot in the Semifinal for the time being but the away fans couldn't believe it. Once we reviewed the replay there were no more doubts, Campaña was offside. Only slightly, but still offside. A big blow for the Osasuna bench but there was still enough time for another goal. We were surprised to see Real Madrid fall back completely to defend the 3-1 scoreline once we crossed into the last ten minutes of the match. They did not want to risk another goal again. Osasuna were completely on top trying to get that fourth goal that would put them through, but then the worst happened in the 90th minute. Real Madrid found space on the right wing to push forward in a slow, sort of counter attack. They put a cross into the box that Gareth Bale managed to beat his marker Romeu and head the ball towards goal. Rodriguez got his hand to it and forced the ball to hit the crossbar, but the ball bounced off the crossbar and went directly towards Gareth Bale again who just had to head the ball one more time without even jumping, and the ball went into the open net.

Real Madrid 2 - 3 CA Osasuna

There it was. Gareth Bale had just scored the goal that put Los Merengues in the semifinal with a rebound. With this result Osasuna had to score 2 more goals and there was not enough time. The referee added on 5 more minutes but even that wasn't long enough. Osasuna kept pushing forward but it was all over. Real Madrid have advanced to the semifinals and are clear favorites for the title, while Osasuna return home with yet another disappointment in the Copa Del Rey.

FC Barcelona 1 - 1 CA Osasuna

A win today could have put Osasuna tied with Real Madrid for first place on the league table, but Barcelona refused to be beat. A few changes in Chavez's First Team, with Ulises Davila returning to the bench due to fatigue and Federico Palacios returning to the starting eleven. Asier Riesgo was on the bench again and Rodriguez started in goal. The formation also changed as Chavez decided not to field the 4-1-3-2 that allowed five goals from Real Madrid and instead came out with a 4-4-2 Holding, a formation that has not been used by Chavez since the beginning of the season. Also, Alejandro Grimaldo made his second start for his club. He's truly had a memorable start to his Osasuna career, first playing against Real Madrid and now playing against his former colors FC Barcelona. Osasuna's winning mentality showed as with just eight minutes into the match they took the lead after Jose Campaña sent Guillermo a through ball to anticipate his run in behind. Guillermo controlled the ball with one touch inside the box and then fired the ball into the bottom left corner. Claudio Bravo was just a fraction of a second late to reaching it.


Osasuna's 4-4-2 had Barcelona on the wall for the majority of the second half with Campaña and Darder taking ownership of midfield. Although the team may be getting outplayed, Barcelona has players that can create chances for themselves and it showed with Luis Suarez stepping into the right side of the box and then striking it into the far post to equalize. Osasuna kept control of the match after the halftime break but they weren't able to take the lead. Osasuna had 8 shots on target out of 12 shots taken, but Claudio Bravo played an amazing match.


CA Osasuna Player of The Month

*CM - Luis Martinez (Spain) (75 OVR 17yrs) (+3)
Youth academy graduate Luis Martinez really stepped up this month going from a future prospect from the youth academy to a current key player. His incredible performances with the B-Team earned him more chances with the First Team off the bench. He is now one of the most important players for the B-Team along with Ulises Davila and it is evident that he may be one of the most talented players in the entire squad. He dribbles and passes like if he was born with a football, making him a different player from the rest of the team. If at 17 years old he's playing this well, we can only imagine how amazing he will become in the future. This kid could receive a call to the Spanish national team tomorrow and nobody would question it, although it is highly unlikely he would be called up at this time.

Alex Garcia - CB (Mexico) (59-63, 80-86) (+14): The first and only CB in the academy, and with Miguel Flaño reaching the end of his era I am very anxious to see more reports on him. At 16 years old he stands at 6'2", and is considered Physically Strong. A perfect combination for a CB.

Antonio Lopes - LB (Spain) (39-41, 78-84): Lopes is the first and only LB in the academy and of course the club has high hopes as it is a position that the senior team lacks depth in. The current first team LB is Sisi who is naturally a RM and is reaching his mid thirties. Lopes is only 15 and stands at 5'2" but is described as a Winger, which leads us to believe that he will be an attacking fullback.

Chris Cropper - GK (United States) (62-66, 79-85) (+13): The third American goalkeeper to join the Youth Academy. At 17 years old he stands at 6'3" and his game is well balanced so far.

Ivan Miranda - LW (Spain) (64-68, 81-87) (+6): The 16 year old has decided that the wing is where he is most comfortable with, and is a candidate for promotion in the future. He is quite short, standing at 5'9", but that isn't a problem since we will need him for speed not necessarily for his aerial ability.

Jorge Asenjo - ST (Spain) (52-56, 81-87): Really high hopes for the 16 year old striker seeing as the senior team's only natural strikers are Guillermo and Palacios. Kodro has delivered great results but is only 65 OVR. Asenjo seems to be a future star, but appears to be more of a creative striker, since he stands at only 5'7" and is described as a Winger.

Mario Santana - ST (Mexico) (62-66, 83-89) (+13): Really excited to see future reports on this kid from Mexico. He's described as "Physically Strong" and you know how much I like to play with a target man. The downside is that he's only 5'3", but he's still 15 years old so I'm hoping he'll grow closer to the 6 foot range.
*Santana has just turned 16 and is now eligible to play in La Liga. I'm a bit disappointed that his height only grew to 5'10 as I really wanted a target man, but he is Physically Strong so he should be a good striker nonetheless.*

Pedro Ramirez - RB (Spain) (63-67, 82-88): Even though I use overlapping fullbacks, it wouldn't hurt to have a natural fullback in the squad since right now I'm using a RW at RB with my first team. Ramirez is currently 15 years old and stands at 5'6". Depending on how much he grows in height I might even be able to use him at CB.

Victor Soriano - CDM (Spain) (53-57, 89-94): Really looking forward to this player. Similar qualities to the B-Team's Vinuesa Ramos, but not as tall with a 6'1" height. He may not be as sluggish thanks to his lower height though so I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do in the future.

January Headlines

Bigas Stays!
Pedro Bigas had a tough start to his Osasuna career, and at the end of last season it was presumed he would leave the club this summer. Surprisingly he was not transferred to another club, but he hardly made any appearances. As the January transfer window came near, it became official that Bigas had personally asked Chavez to put him on the transfer list as he wanted to go to a team that would play him more. In the end it was Sergi Gomez who was transfer listed and sold this month, while Bigas was not put on the list at all. In the games leading up to January Bigas had become the starting LCB for the B-Team while Gomez was sent to the reserves. Bigas has also made appearances as a substitute for the First Team as a defensive midfielder. However, the player is still unhappy and was disappointed not to be sold.

Copa Del Rey
After eliminating Osasuna the clear favorites for the title are Real Madrid. All of the teams from the upper side of the table have been eliminated with only Real Madrid remaining. The first leg of the semifinals have been played already with Granada forcing Atletico Madrid to a 0-0 draw. Real Madrid hosted Athletic Bilbao, and completely demolished them with a 5-0 victory. Needless to say, Real Madrid are technically in the final already with one leg left to play.


Conclusion
I can't even describe how pissed I was to be so close to making a historic comeback in the Copa Del Rey, only to be eliminated by a last minute rebound goal. A REBOUND goal!! Of all types of goals that could be scored it was a rebound goal that took me out. He didn't even have to work for that rebound goal either! He literally stayed in the exact same spot when he headed the ball the first time. The ball hit the post and literally bounced back exactly to where he was standing and he barely had to make any neck movement to head it back to the net. Man I was so pissed. I guess I'll have to wait another year to win the cup.

On the brighter side of this month I'm really happy with my only signing. His stats resemble a LM more than a LB so I was worried about how he would do in the back but he played well in his two matches this month. I think in the future I would like to have Grimaldo playing LM, with Quinti playing LB since Quinti also has good potential and is more defensive minded than Grimaldo. What I also like about Quinti is that even though he's more defensive minded, he's good at overlapping and has much to offer up front.

I was able to get rid of all the players j had on my transfer/loan list except one. Our recent youth graduate Alex Silva Gavan did not receive any loan offers so he will have to finish off the season with us. He will continue to be a part of the reserves (B-Team bench) but I'll try to include him as much as I can with substitute appearances.

That's it for this month. Sorry for the length of the update but I just felt like there was so much going on. Next month we will receive Chelsea at El Sadar for the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 so I'm really looking forward to telling you guys about it. When I saw what you paid for Grimaldo I was very surprised but then I remembered that you're using the base value rule. He looks like a solid left back with a nice potential. Then to the games. What a tie in the Copa del Rey, that was crazy! Shame about the offside goal, it must've felt terrible when it was ruled off. You should still be proud of youself. Allthough I am disappointed that Khedira scored against you. You also did okay in the league. The table is still very close and you have a good chance of winning the title. Good luck against Chelsea! Also, I don't really mind the length.

@Simp: What a win in the Copa Del Rey! 5-1 is a massive scoreline to win by. You finished May strongly and congrats on completing the double! Negredo did well to get 16 league goals as it looked like Bacca became your main striker after January. And he did very well when he came in. 15 assists from Feghouli in the league is also amazing! He was your best player by a mile. A nice budget for next season. Any targets?

I know, it was a massive win and thanks. Surprisingly enough I don't have any transfer targets! Crazy, I know. I'll probably (well, I've played almost through August) end up signing a few rotational players and loaning out some guys that aren't needed.

RB, Tosin Olufemi, 57 OVR, 20 yrs old - £70,000 from Colchester United


With only one right back on the roster coming in to the season, it made sense that Berhalter was looking for one to bring it. Olufemi is a young player out of the Colchester academy. He is a very quick defender, who shows some promising ability to get forward as well as defend. He will be useful as an overlapping player who provides support as the attack builds up.

CB, Paddy NcNair, 62 OVR, 19 yrs old - Loaned from Manchester United


After sending Webster and Whatmough out on loan, Berhalter brought in two defenders to add depth to the position. First, Paddy McNair is an academy project out of Manchester United. He has show a lot of potential at center back, and has already received call ups to Northern Ireland. A year with Portsmouth should do a lot of good for the development of the player.

RB, Jack Grimmer, 59 OVR, 20 yrs old - Loaned from Fulham FC


Another depth addition to fill in at the weak right back spot. With the purchase of Olufemi, Grimmer will be a temporary back up option to split time with him. He is one of the many prospects at Fulham right now, and with their recent relegation he was going to have trouble breaking into the line up as they fight their way back to the Premier League.

CB, Joseph Gomez, 56 OVR, 17 yrs old - Loaned from Charlton Athletic


Joe Gomez is a versatile defender out of Charlton Athletic who can play both in the center and outside of the defense. His quickness should make him a good choice to partner with any of the other center backs and should complement their style well. A good year at Portsmouth could go a long way for his future at Charlton.

You may be surprised he is not on the list above. He was borderline. He is very likely to stay the first season, barring a MASSIVE offer, and will continue from there on a year to year basis, unless he really impresses me. Another solid player, moving on.

He can't go. No matter the money, he is Arsenal blood. Moving on.


Theo Walcott

He can't go either. Just like Wilshere, Arsenal blood. Should contribute greatly. Moving on.

The last guy on this list. Another guy that all Arsenal fans love. Creative midfielder, may see some time on the left side, as may Ozil, although Ozil will not see the left side as much as I don't see him as effective there. Sanchez will also see a lot of time on the left to open the right wing for Walcott, who could play at Striker, and the Ox can play either left or right.

Yes, he has just basically arrived. It will allow me to sell him, and I plan to do so. The reason being is that whenever I use him, he is terrible. I don't know why, maybe it is my fault, but I can find a replacement. And I know who.

Just another player I don't like in this game. A player we don't really need with Gibbs, as well as 3 quality right backs that I could use at left back if needed.


Mikel Arteta
Unfortunate to get rid of him, but it is time. Will be looking for an offer, and, if possible, to send him to Spain.


(POSSIBLY) Abou Diaby
This isn't a guarantee. Undecided to keep him or not, but I don't think he will really crack into the team often. Might be for the best for both sides to send him to a French club.

Very possible in real life, very possible in the game. Not sure if he would accept a contract, so, in case, I have a back up plan.

Jamie, I'm knocking. CAM isn't really a need for us, but I really like Coutinho. If we have extra cash left over, this could be a move.

Connected to Arsenal in real life, and that is the only real reason he is on this list. Will have a look at him, probably nothing more than that.

Made a pretty big mistake on the brief, forgot to include one of my biggest transfer targets in Jackson Martinez. He is pretty heavily linked in real life and I like the deal for us in game as well. Might be too much money, so I may look in other places for a striker.


Fernando Llorente was merely linked, but I can assure you that will not happen in this career, and it is far unlikely in real life.


Zlatan has actually been linked a lot, but I don't believe it. However, it does seem like basically every source has linked a 10.9 million pound bid, or 11, close enough. Still, unlikely to find his way to the Emirates in this career.


Also, not a striking position, but Arturo Vidal is someone I could look at, although I do believe he goes to Manchester City a lot, but if his price tag is too high, again, not really interested.


Lastly, Anthony Martial is still worth taking a look at. It has been said that he has agreed to terms with Tottenham, so maybe he won't be the first choice to join us. As well, not sure what overall he is, and it may be a bit too low for us right now.

You need some beer my friend. Nothing alcohol can't fix. Except alcoholism I guess. Well, in a way it can fix it. At least momentarily but it just can't cure --- getting off track here. Sucks to hear but on the bright side you made it to the final man. Usually when I'm down playing FIFA helps me get my mind off things really quick. Playing football (soccer - whatever) also helps me out a lot but I don't think it would work in your situation :/ working out and also just going out to eat with the significant other cheers me up. Don't want to sound like the bad influence of the forum but in your scenario, I would say getting the team together and going out for drinks would be the way to go.

Only eight minutes later, Pablo Martinez whips the ball in from the left. The delivery is a little deeper than what Pujol wanted so he has to backtrack. He somehow gets enough power on the header to loop then the ball over the diving keeper and into the back of the net. A one-two with Ibrahima Seck allows Cheikh Ndoye to find some space on the right of the penalty area and place the ball into the far left corner but in the end, it’s just a conciliation goal.

Just one minute later, an awful sliding challenge through the back of Pujol from Ousseynou Cissé gets him a straight red to even the teams. Three minutes later, a sloppy challenge by Rodéric Filippi give Dijon a crucial penalty. Johan Gastien takes it and sends the keeper the wrong way for the equaliser. Only four minutes later, Johan Gastien is played through the Gazélec defence and he can coolly put it past Maury to put Djion in front. This game has put an end to Gazélec being unbeaten at home...

Managers Thoughts:

With Pujol scoring all our goals, I’ve been busy looking for suitable replacements if (when) he gets injured. M’Madi’s goal drought has continued and it’s probably for the best if I play him in the number nine role from now on. Unless M’Madi steps up, or Pujol continues his form throughout the rest of the season, it’s difficult to imagine someone in Ajaccio getting the golden boot.

It’s very tight at the top of the table which means that we really need to pick up our old form before we slide uncontrollably down the table. In the perfect circumstance, one win will bring us to the top of the table but that’s much easier said than done.

Our in Form Players: Pujol is in the form of his life. His aerial ability is outstanding and he’s quick enough to get past defenders with ease. Before getting sent off in the last game, David Ducourtioux has been a great defensive midfielder. He has the work rate and a range of tackling skills to rule the midfield on his own.

Our out of Form Players: Rodéric Filippi has been finding himself in awful positions which allow attackers to waltz through the gaps and score.

Louis Poggi wins the ball deep in the opposition’s half and heads to the left wing where he dinks the ball into the box for Grégory Pujol (in his first game back from injury) to get in front of his marker and head it past the keeper for an early lead. Only eight minutes later, Pablo Martinez whips the ball in from the left. The delivery is a little deeper than what Pujol wanted so he has to backtrack. He somehow gets enough power on the header to loop then the ball over the diving keeper and into the back of the net. A one-two with Ibrahima Seck allows Cheikh Ndoye to find some space on the right of the penalty area and place the ball into the far left corner but in the end, it’s just a conciliation goal.

The only real action of the game comes in the sixty-first minute as an already-booked Ducourtiux dives in to block a cross but he ends up lifting his studs into the opposition player which gives him his second yellow. Despite being a man down, Gazélec get their opening goal as M’Madi cuts in from the right before cutting the ball back to Grégory Pujol who guides the ball across the floor and past the keeper who didn’t even attempt a save. Just one minute later, an awful sliding challenge through the back of Pujol from Ousseynou Cissé gets him a straight red to even the teams. Three minutes later, a sloppy challenge by Rodéric Filippi give Dijon a crucial penalty. Johan Gastien takes it and sends the keeper the wrong way for the equaliser. Only four minutes later, Johan Gastien is played through the Gazélec defence and he can coolly put it past Maury to put Djion in front. This game has put an end to Gazélec being unbeaten at home...

Managers Thoughts:

With Pujol scoring all our goals, I’ve been busy looking for suitable replacements if (when) he gets injured. M’Madi’s goal drought has continued and it’s probably for the best if I play him in the number nine role from now on. Unless M’Madi steps up, or Pujol continues his form throughout the rest of the season, it’s difficult to imagine someone in Ajaccio getting the golden boot.

It’s very tight at the top of the table which means that we really need to pick up our old form before we slide uncontrollably down the table. In the perfect circumstance, one win will bring us to the top of the table but that’s much easier said than done.

Our in Form Players: Pujol is in the form of his life. His aerial ability is outstanding and he’s quick enough to get past defenders with ease. Before getting sent off in the last game, David Ducourtioux has been a great defensive midfielder. He has the work rate and a range of tackling skills to rule the midfield on his own.

Our out of Form Players: Rodéric Filippi has been finding himself in awful positions which allow attackers to waltz through the gaps and score.
