UD Las Palmas opened the Liga Adelante season on the road at SD Ponferradina and used 3 goals in a span of 10 minutes to get a 3-0 win. Most of the chances in this game would come from Las Palmas. The first was in the 34th minute when Sergio Araujo hit the post with a header. Araujo wouldn't be denied though, and the Argentine striker opened the scoring in the 54th minute when he beat Ponferradina goalkeeper Francisco Prieto with a shot into the left corner. Defender Lucas Domínguez would then take down Nauzet in the box in the 60th minute and a penalty was awarded. The Spanish midfielder stepped up and converted his chance to double Las Palmas' lead to 2-0. Nauzet was not finished as he scored on a shot from the top of the box in the 64th minute. Yuri and Cristian Fernández combined for two shots for Ponferradina in the 68th minute, but Las Palmas goalkeeper Casto was up to the challenge to keep a clean sheet.

    Araujo 16'
    Valerón 28'
    Momo 49'

UD Las Palmas' Estadio Gran Canaria opener was a success as Paco Herrera's team triumphed over visitors Sabadell FC 3-0. The opening goal came in the 16th minute when Valerón supplied Sergio Araujo with a pass, and the striker beat Sabadell goalkeeper Nauzet for his second goal in as many matches. 12 minutes later Las Palmas got another goal as Javi Castellano sent a cross into the box that Araujo headed off the post. The ball bounced straight to Valerón, and the 39-year-old veteran tapped a shot into an open net. Shortly after halftime, Momo made it 3-0 with a shot past Nauzet after the goalkeeper made an original save on Momo's first attempt. Javi Hervás had Sabadell's first quality attempt in the 54th minute, but his header sailed over the crossbar. Valerón was denied a brace in the 59th minute when his shot rang off the post. Las Palmas goalkeeper Casto would make saves on Antonio Hidalgo and Collantes in the 62nd and 68th minutes to keep his second clean sheet in as many games.

Araujo had the decisive strikes against SD Ponferradina and Sabadell FC, both 3-0 wins for Las Palmas who now sit atop the Liga Adelante table.

    Manager's Thoughts
A great way to open the Liga Adelante season as we dispatched of SD Ponferradina and Sabadell FC by equal 3-0 margins. Our scoring attack was dangerous as Sergio Araujo and Nauzet both have 2 goals in 2 games. Valerón showed that despite being 39, he's still got a lot of quality football left in him. Casto didn't face a ton of shots in goal, but when he did, he was a rock keeping 2 clean sheets. Currently we sit in 1st place in the table, which would be automatic promotion. However, the season is very young and 4 other sides also have 6 points through 2 matches, so we need to keep playing quality football.

    Las Palmas Youth Academy
The following player has not been signed:

UNK Diego Gonzalez, 43-57 Ovr, 59-79 Pot, Spain, 16 years old

    Training Ground Injury
After the win against Sabadell FC, we got some bad news as it was revealed left back Christian Fernández suffered an ACL injury in training and will be out 4 months while he recovers. Fernández provided quality depth in supporting our starter, Dani Castellano, so someone will need to step up in his absence.

    September 2014 Fixtures
    9/3 - at Albacete
    9/6 - vs Real Valladolid
    9/13 - at Real Zaragoza
    9/20 - at FC Barcelona B
    9/24 - vs Real Betis
    9/27 - at CD Leganés

September is a busy month for us as we have 6 matches, with 4 of them being on the road. We have big showdowns with 2nd place Real Betis and 3rd place Real Zaragoza with the Betis match at home and Zaragoza away. However, we also face the bottom two teams in the Liga Adelante table, Albacete and FC Barcelona B. I'm shooting for 5 wins and 1 draw, with the draw being on the road at Zaragoza. That would give us 16 of a possible 18 points and likely keep us at the top of the table. I realize this is a high projection, but I have confidence in our squad and believe we can get the job done.

Terrific start! Two 3-0 wins and two clean sheets is impressive. Keep it going and promotion should be well doable. Valeron has still got it! How is Araujo to play with? I was looking at bringing him in next season.

F.A. Cup - We were able to win the replay against Nottingham Forest with an extra time goal to advance to the round of 16 of the F.A. Cup. We took on struggling Premier side Burnley afterwards and we knew they could be dangerous since they play in the top division. We took care of business though and saw ourselves through to the quarter final. We will now face Cardiff City with a chance to move into the semi-final. We are beyond excited to be playing this late into the cup, and we hope we can go one step further still.

Andy Barcham - Andy has been outstanding so far this season. He leads all scorers in the league with 19 goals, and his form is a huge part of what makes our attack so dangerous. He has really been the most instrumental player in our success as a club so far this year.

League Lead - Despite our lead dropping five points, we still have a commanding lead over the rest of the competition. It is hard to imagine us not winning the league at this point, but we still need to maintain our focus or else we could become part of the biggest collapse in recent history.

Good month, again. Congrats on getting through the FA Cup games. Burnley, being a Premier League side, was a good win. The gap at the top is still huge at 15 points. I guess you can focus on the FA Cup now.

Wow man you have become the dark horse of the FA Cup! I'm not gonna say much about it because I don't want to jinx it but best of luck! How are those prize monies stacking up? And what the hell happened to Wimbledon??? They were at the top of the table consistently and after the January window their season went down the drain.

EDIT: Oh and by the way I really enjoy your highlights videos. It was a great idea and quite unique as nobody else does that. I was surprised not to see any free kick goals scored this month since that has become your trademark! I think my favorite goal has to be the very first one on the video. Your teammates movement and your vision to pick up on it immediately resulted in a really nice goal. Did you just hold the pass button for that one or did you use the ground cross buttons? I still haven't been trying ground crosses as much as I should.

I like the scoreboard you use in your match summaries. Something different from what we all do. On my phones app they show as just a bunch of letters and numbers but when I opened your post in web view I was like "ahhh okay I see what he's doing" lol. Well, a perfect start to the season with two big 3-0 wins that surely have the press placing you as the team to watch out for this season. Shame to see you will have a player out for 4 months but at least he wasn't a starter. How old was that player? I hope he wasn't too old because I hate it when a player begins to decrease in stats while he's out for an injury. Watch out for Barcelona B. They may be at the bottom of the table but they have some great individual talent that can cause damage.

If I recall correctly it's like regular school/college but it's in Irish or Gaelic, I'm not sure right now which language it was. I could be mistaken, though.

The debt steers me away from transfers with actual money and it forces me to do more free transfers (vast majority of lower league transfers are free in real life so why not?) and get more loans/pre-contracts on players who have £750 wages. I've also got no transfer scouts so I have no idea how good people are. (once again, I promise i won't cheat and look on sofifa or something)

The only thing i'm not decided about is if I should try and keep the team irish or if i should buy players from different nations...

I'd say keep it Irish! You're the only Irish team in the English division you gotta represent! At least that's what I would do lol completely up to you though. As you said most of the lower league transfers are free and there will be a lot of expiring contracts. To find the most players with a $750 wage you're gonna have to stick with players from League 1 and 2. I'm not sure how much the players from the Irish leagues get paid but all of the players in league 2 will be getting $750 and most of league 1 as well. Without GTN scouts you won't be able to see their value/wage but a little trick is that during the transfer window click on a player and go to "approach for loan" and the next screen will show you their wage even if you have not scouted them. After that you can either send the loan offer, or just back out and try getting them on a permanent or future deal. Check if John Egan has a $750 wage. From what I can remember he was one of my Irish players at AFC Wimbledon and he did well. At Wimbledon I only signed UK players. It seems like you have set yourself up for failure, but that's what this career is all about! Getting knocked down and kicked by the Irish FA with nowhere to go and being reborn in the English system!

Mexico now; Not the best international break to have before a World Cup but at least it prepares you a little for going a man down. If that ever happens in the World Cup. Of course I have to be happy with Ireland winning though! [emoji14]

I knew that of all the people here you would enjoy that defeat to Ireland! I gotta I'm surprised though. I underestimated them and came out with the B-Team and they beat me up good.

Vinuesa Ramos (77 OVR) and Martinez (75 OVR) have grown everything except their physical stats. No growth in physical at all. Romeu (78 OVR) has shown growth in all physical stats except reactions. His highest growth in physical is a +5 and his lowest is a +2. I don't mind that he hasn't grown in reactions though since it's already a 78 stat. I think Vinuesa Ramos and Romeu were promoted at the same time but Romeu has been a good starter at RB while Ramos has been with the B-Team and has been inconsistent. Ramos is supposed to be one of my top players because of his overall but he's inconsistent and I find his game very one sided with extremely high defensive stats and not much else.

Thanks man! I noticed Wimbledon slipping as well, it made me a little sad. I was looking forward to moving into League One with them next season!

As far as money, here is how it has stacked up in all competitions so far:
                          J. Paint Trophy - £6,239
                          Capital One Cup - £13,258
                          F.A. Cup - £298,349

That first play was with the grounded cross. It's one of my favorite ways to score is to dribble down to the end line and try to pick out a player with it. That play in particular lined up really well since I saw him move towards the inside and sent the ball there rather than just across the face. The strike afterwards was perfectly inside the far post too.

I'm glad that you like the highlights! I thought it would be a good idea and I'm glad that some of you guys have liked it.

Pack lined up a free kick in the 90th minute and with a last chance effort curled it over the wall and away from the keeper into the top left corner for the equalizer.

Wallace converted from the penalty spot into the top left corner for his first goal since returning from injury. Hollands intercepted the ball at midfield and pushed it ahead himself on a solo run that ended with him striking the ball from the right side of the goal across the keeper and inside the top left corner.

Olufemi got the ball outside of the box and fired a right footed shot that curled across the goal and into the top left corner. Barcham attacked up the middle and got space to place his shot perfectly to the bottom right off the post and in. Barcham ran free down the left wing and he sent a low ball into the box for Tubbs to tap in from in front of goal.

Hollands dribbled down the middle and found Barcham running into the box on the left side and he struck it first time to the far post to double the lead and send Portsmouth through to the semi-finals.

F.A. Cup - The match against Cardiff was evenly matched, and Barcham game through for us to force the replay. In the replay we took control early and never relented until the final whistle blew. Now we move on to the semi-final to face Aston Villa as we continue to ride this amazing cup run. We knocked them out of the Capital One Cup earlier this year before losing to Chelsea so we know it is possible for us to win this if we play it right.

League Play - We are only 2 wins away from securing the league title for ourselves. At this point it seems nearly impossible for us to not take home the title, but I will feel much better when we are lifting it at the end of the year.

Andy Barcham - Andy is competing for the Golden Boot right now. He is tied at the top with 20 league goals. His goals have really carried us through many games this year, and we really hope he can finish strong and take the award for himself.
