I am by no means a defensive specialist, but I finished with least goals against and most clean sheets in League 2 and League 1 and then finished top 5 in least goals against and only 2 clean sheets off the league lead in the Championship. So I don't know if my strategy will translate over to the level of the Premier League.

But, what I do is I try to not control any of my back line unless things have absolutely broken down and it's a last ditch effort, or if it's a counter and they are the only ones back. My main tactic is to control the defensive midfielder/midfielders and mark whoever has the ball to keep them from getting into the box. Your back line should keep it's shape since you aren't moving anyone in there and that should keep them from making passes up the middle for the most part. Don't give them room for the long shots and you should see some improvements.

    My Career:

So yeah, I started one with Shrewsbury after seeing what Tex and Cabee have done with Portsmouth and Exeter. I'm not sure whether Palace will be done but I may do the two of them to stop me playing one too much and then inevitably becoming bored. What do you guys think?

Thanks, the defense is finally up to Championship caliber, but some work will still need to be done if I want to get to them up to par for the Premier League. Anything short of a promotion this season will be a disappointment after getting all the way to the playoff final last season.

As for your career, you know that I love some League 2 action! Just took a look at Shrewsbury's squad and they have some good prospects for a league 2 team. The more recent roster updates are even better for them, but I'm not sure if you are using a newer one or the defaults. Either way, Connor Goldson was actually a player I was close to buying with Portsmouth quite a few times. I actually would have probably bought him if my inquiry for Ayala didn't return with a £0 asking price.

So you want the Hertha career to be brought back but you don't want it to be brought back at the same time? By the way, the result is tied at 4-4 right now. It's not that we want it and don't want it at the same time, it's that we had second thoughts after you explained you would be doing another one relatively soon.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Hey-ho lads, sorry for my disappearing, thought I would stop by and have a small talk:

So, I've been really on and off recently due to a few things. Obviously, you all know that it is summer - slower part of the year over here, so we all have our own stuff to do and what not, which is fine and I hope you all are having a great summer!

Secondly, been having some stressed times lately, 18 is a weird age, now that I have finished high-school and all, and thinking about where I am going to study and what not. I've been also struggling with injuries and such, after my broken ankle joint, I've also now been trying to get my knees fixed, as they are hurting like a bitch. Been to the doctors a lot these past few months.

Now, have I been following around here? - I actually have, believe it or not. Luke has made some stunning progress with Leipzig and so has Tex; Chicos new Leeds career mode looks great, and some of the new boys around here have also been writing well.

I do want to cap FIFA 15 off with one last CM, which I am planning on doing in a few days, something a bit different and I think something nobody has done (maybe in the earlier posts).

        Anyway, take care everybody!

So you are one of those people who betrayed me? How dare you haha jk :P

I see what you mean but I've always made it clear that I'll be doing a Hertha (or two) on every FIFA. Then again I probably haven't meantioned it too many times lately.

So far it's looking like I'll be continuing with Valencia. The votes are even but I think that three Hertha careers in a few months would be too much.

I didn't realize that I had sent so many players out on loan leaving me with so few players. Hopefully I won't get too injury plagued since I only have 4 reserves. I have a couple of youth academy players that may get a call up if too many get hurt. If I make it through January though I will probably bring in some emergency depth through loans.

How would you feel if I started a career with Monaco or Lyon instead of returning to Valencia? There haven't been many Ligue 1 careers and it would be interesting to try and win the treble. What do you think?

Swansea Season 2 - November and December Update

                November

                Swansea 3 - Townsend 16' (PEN), 45' (PEN), 90' (Free kick)
                Manchester City - 0

                Newcastle 3 - Cissoko 16', Perez 20', Taylor 45'
                Swansea 1 - Montero 42'

                Swansea 0
                Arsenal 6 - Ozil 15' 70'. Welbeck 27' 32', Wilshere 45', Cavani 61'

                Aston Villa 2 - Wass 35', Altidore 85'
                Swansea 0

November has been a terrible month. We did beat Man City early on, but all 3 goals were set pieces. This is all since Zivkovic has been out of action and it is clear we need him back. The team is falling apart, plaers arent scoring or putting in performances for some reason at the moment. If this continues, Europa League qualification will be out the window.

                December

                Capital One Cup Quarter Finals
                Chelsea 3 - Oscar 38', Falcao 52' (PEN), Cuardrado 72'
Swansea 0 - Cesar CB Red Card

                Swansea 1 - Gudelj 84'
                QPR 3 - Austin 8', Fer 42', Faurlin 83'

                Swansea 3 - Townsend 5', Montero 34', Sigurdsson 90'
                Stoke City 3 - Raffael 2', 23', Moses 70'

                Southampton 2 - Long 28', 38'
                Swansea 3 - Sigurdsson 36', Emnes 70', 84'

                Liverpool 0 Balotelli Red card
                Swansea 3 - Montero 18', Townsend 24', 53' (PEN)

                Swansea 3 - Townsend 45', Emnes 59', Albentosa 81' (OG)
                Derby 6 - Bryson 24' 54', Russell 38', 65', Ince 78', 88'

                Premier League Table
                1. Arsenal 53 PTS
                2. Liverpool 39 PTS
                3. Chelsea 38 PTS
                4. Man U 36 PTS
                5. Man City 34 PTS
                9. SWANSEA CITY 28 PTS

December has not been much better. We managed to beat Liverpool but once they got a red card, they were out of it. We are conceding way too many goals too easily and not managing to get back into the games. We are now out of the cup as well. Going into Januray I am not too optimistic because the results have been so bad as of late. It is honestly hard to see when a good run of form can come about. We have dropped from a comfortable 3rd place a few months ago to 9th. I just hope that the January transfer window can be miraculous for us and we can bring in a game changer to get this team back to winning ways.

Sorry its a bit depressing haha but many thanks for reading. Any comments and suggestions are very welcome

I'd love to see a Lyon career. Their squad is loaded with potential, and Lacazette is an unbelievable player in his own right.

                    Bologna 2014/15

                    September

We started with a 1-1 draw at Lanciano, Daniele Cacia scoring for us. Next came a 4-2 win against Vercelli with four different goalscorers. We grabbed a 1-0 at Citadella that included two missed sitters, a 3-0 against Chiavari with a Matteo Mancosu brace, a big 3-1 win against Catania where Douglas created all our goals, and a huge 5-3 at Brescia with Federico Bernardeschi scoring four times. We ended the month in first place with 16 points.

                    October

A 0-0 draw to Perugia at home was followed by a 2-2 at Avellino, where we saw Mancosu continue his great form with a goal and assist. We thrashed Vicenza 5-1 at home as Cacia became our second player to bag a hat-trick, and we followed up with a tight 3-2 win at Terni as Bernardeschi starred in a great performance. We finished with a 1-1 draw against Livorno, who are fighting for promotion, and a 2-1 win at Frosinone thanks to a brace from Bernardeschi. We kept our hold on the top spot this month, but only just.

                    November

The 4-2 demolotion of La Spezia featured our third hat-trick of the season as Mancosu bagged all four goals, but our form dropped after that. We lost 2-0 at Bari, who took the lead in the league with the three points. We drew 2-2 at home to Carpi before going down 1-0 at Pescara. A 3-2 win against Modena gave us some respite, and a 2-1 trip to Trapani made us think we could get back into form until a 0-0 against Latina told us otherwise. In the cup, we had a thrilling encounter with Hellas Verona which ended 3-2 even though we were 2-0 down with an hour gone. Late goals from Mancosu, Cacia and Bernardeschi sealed it in thrilling fashion. We dropped to third behind Bari and Catania, though we can close the gap. It's no coincidence that all the dropped points coincide with Marios Oikonomou's toe fracture.

                    December

With just three games, I thought we could really catch up to Catania and Bari. We drew 2-2 at Crotone, 0-0 to Lanciano at home, and 2-2 away at Varese to let Bari go 8 points clear of us. It wasn't a good month, and we needed the winter break and January window so we could refresh and strengthen the squad.

                    January

I put Uros Radakovic up for loan at his request but got no offers, so he's stuck with us until the summer at least. I also had a €4.2 million bid for the Iraq left back Ali Adnan accepted, but he decided to join Bayer Leverkusen instead. I did manage to bring in Muhamed Bešić in on loan from Everton at €40,000 per week, just to have that defensive midfielder with good marking to head attacks off before they got into our box. The Oikonomou injury and our lack of a genuine CDM hurt us, and we've been conceding goals for fun all season. The results were noticeable, and we conceded just four goals in six matches all month.

We had a 2-0 win at La Spezia, with Cacia scoring his 10th goal of the season to join Bernardeschi and Mancosu in double digits. We then had a trip to Fiorentina in the cup, and I did start Bernardeschi. Badelj scored for them just before halftime, and Kaan Ayhan equalised with seconds to go when he smashed in Bernardeschi's rebounded shot. He put us 2-1 up with a smart run to meet Douglas' cutback, but Joaquin got their second when Angelo Da Costa charged too far out and missed the ball. We won 4-2 on penalties, Mario Gomez and Alberto Aquilani missing for Fiorentina and Douglas bagging the winner. We drew 0-0 at Latina and won 2-1 at home to Trapani despite losing Oikonomou to a second yellow just 31 minutes into the match (he scored before going off). And then there was our 2-1 quarterfinal cup win against Inter, with Mancosu and Bernardeschi scoring after Hernanes was sent off. Da Costa cost us another clean sheet with some real stupidity in the last few seconds.

We now face Juventus on February 4 and March 4 in the semi-final, and on deadline day we managed to sign Fehmi Mert Günok, a 25-year-old Turkish goalkeeper with Fenerbahce. He will join us in the summer when his contract expires, and we had to pay €50,000 to get him to sign for us. But he's 6'5" and 74 overall with at least 10 years of good football left, so I think he could develop into the low 80s at least, which means it would be worth making him our best paid player.

But the really huge news is that we received a bid of €8.5 million for Bernardeschi from Barcelona! The chairman said I could get up to €16.8 million for him, so I countered with €20 million. Barcelona came back with €18.4 and I agreed, but Bernardeschi turned down the move! I was expecting to have loads of cash to sign five or six really good players, but he just said no to a HUGE club that was going to pay him €40,000 to sit on the bench! I suppose it's fine because it means I can get a lot more for him if I sell him once he's grown a little more, but I forgot to sign a LB in all the commotion!

                    Other stuff

I'm posting straight text updates until next season when I hope we'll be in Serie A and I'll still be in charge of Bologna. We made a change from 4-3-2-1 to 4-1-2-1-2 around October, and we went with a 4-2-3-1 with three CAMs after getting Bešić to the club. Da Costa starts in goal because he has no competion. Our defence is Douglas-Maietta-Oikonomou-Mbaye. The midfield has Cataldi holding beside Bešić. Bernardeschi, Sansone and Laribi play behind Mancosu or Cacia. Cornet and Casarini generally come on in the second half. Ayhan has been incredible for me, especially in midfield.

In the summer, I need to sign a new CB because Maietta is starting to decline across the board amd Radakovic doesn't impress me. We also have to get a LB after the Bernardeschi episode derailed our transfers. Mbaye is a good backup, but we need a first team player and Morleo won't cut it against teams like Roma and Juventus. We have a new GK coming in, Douglas is a beast with 7 assists in the league already, and Oikonomou is a solid choice for our other CB position. In midfield, I already want to bring Bešić back either permanently or on loan again to partner Franco Zuculini. Ahead of them, Cataldi and Bernardeschi will take two of the CAM spots, so we need to sign someone to play on the left. I might just make a permanent move for Karim Laribi who has been pretty solid there so far. Mancosu is just fantastic with his blend of pace and power. He's scored 18 goals in all competitions and will continue to start once we make Serie A.

It looks like I will take up the option to sign Cornet for €1.5 million if he takes a rotation role and a decent wage. He's been pretty solid whenever he's played and scored 6 or 7 goals in 19 appearances. I'll probably want him coming on at CAM because he doesn't really have any physicality to play at ST. Cacia is going to be sacrificed along with Maietta in the summer because they're both getting older but are on pretty big wages. Cacia can probably get me about €3-4 million if he continues to top the assists chart and go up in overall. For now, I just want to take the game to Juventus and make the final of the TIM Cup so I can hopefully end the season with a trophy and have Europa League next season.

Only 2 losses so far if I counted right? A ton of draws though which left a lot of points out on the table. January was quite the adventure in itself. I'm sure you were already scheming the ways to spend that massive amount of money for Bernardeschi until he threw you a curveball and turned it down. Stuff like that makes you a little upset since you were happy to get that huge amount, but I guess you have to look at it in that this is a player that actually wants to play for you, and turned down one of the biggest clubs in the world to stay loyal to your club. An interesting series of events to say the least.

We continued our terrific start to the season with another couple of wins. 3 wins out of 5 isn't perfect but considering the team has changed since last season it is a work in progress. Calhanoglu has made a positive impact early on with 3 goals in 4 league appearances and is living up to the high price tag we paid for him. It was disappointing to see Leon Goretzka break his ankle which will leave him on the sidelines for around 3 month, especially considering the huge impact he had early on into his Leipzig career. We got our Champions League campaign of to a good start with a 1-0 victory. We looked comfortable in the game and the only dissapointing factor was that we only won by the one goal.

                        October 2018
                        October 2018.png

With 3 wins from 3 in the league we had a perfect month in the league. A hard earned victory over Bayern set the tone for the month with Callhanoglu adding another 2 goals to his tally for the season. It was perhaps Luciano Vietto who really stepped up this month with 2 importnt goals in the Champions League and a winner in the crucial clash against Bayern. Defeat to Bayern would have sent them 7 points clear early on so this win was even more vital, they look like a new team compared to last season so it should be an interesting season. The Champions League has gone well so far with 2 wins and a draw which puts us in a really good position for the remaining 3 games. I am confident that 1 more win will seal qualification to the next stage of the competition. We also progressed into the next round of the Deustcher Pokal after victory over Stuggart in round 2, even if we had to take it to extra time. We were without several key players after a tough league game against Koln a couple of days earlier but the players that came in done fantastic and made a positive impression on both me and the fans.

Impressive run right now. I don't think I saw even 1 loss in any of those months. That win against Bayern was huge to stay above them, and you are just barely off of the top of the league. Keep it up! This looks like it could be shaping up to be your season.

Three, including the one in August. But yeah, tons of draws and tons of goals shipped. No doubt we are in fantastic shape though and still in with every shot at the title. We just need to be a lot tighter at the back and learn to stop giving away leads. And yeah, if Bernardeschi decided he'd rather play every week rather than be part of the reserves at Barca, then good on him. I'm proud to have a dedicated young man like that in my squad.

@Texasbum Your squad looks thin, man. Even if you don't get injuries, you're going to want to give a couple of key players a week or two of rest midway through the season, and I can't see you doing that with such a thing squad. Maybe 2-3 players on loan or a couple of free agents?

@Simppu I'd like to actually see you take charge at Marseille, just for fun.

@Keano Nice choice in Shrewsbury. They have some good players like Conor Goldson who should develop very nicely for you. Good luck.

@ChicoBass Good job starting off well with Leeds. Any reason you don't have Adryan in the first team? I thought a player of his ability would be good for you at the level you're playing at.

@LukeWhu Holy crap that is some money you got for Werner and Seferovic! You seem to have bought really well and have an incredibly strong first team and squad. But your one keeper might be a risk going into the season!

@Moose Nice job on the Community Shield, good one. Sterling looks like he'll do the business for you. Schneiderlin, what a fantastic buy. You can't go wrong with him.

Yeah, I got loan happy and started sending out players left and right and didn't notice I left himself with no one to cover me. I'll have to do some work to fix it in January for sure. I can always recall some players, but that would be a last resort since it would be kind of messed up or the club they are loaned to. I have a youth player or two that may see a call up at some point as well if needed.

Never had this amount of money before and after the sale of Werner I will have £53mil left for January which should be fun. Goretzka out for 3 months is annoying but like you said I feel I have good depth to cope with it. Thought I had a deal for a keeper in the bag but the player opted to join another club on deadline which was a pain and it's even more risky now Scuffet had said he is unsettled.

Shame about Bernadeschi turning down Barca, always annoying when that happens, you are prepared to spend all that money and then it's gone. The loan signing of Besic was a good one, should make you a lot more solid in the middle and hopefully helps with the conceding problem.
Semi Final of the cup is impressive, fingers crossed you beat Juventus and then you could have europa league in hopefully your first season back in the top flight.
I saw you were 8 points behind Bari, is that still the case or have you closed the gap a bit?
