@indiblue: Best of luck trying to bring players in... tough budget to deal with. I know Ings is a solid player but not fantastic in the Prem straight away as he has struggled for me once I picked him up in Season 2 (in BPL play). That said he has good pace and suits a good passing style, not sure what you're playing based on bringing in Bendtner. Should be pretty affordable though which is a good thing!

I'm gonna be a full homer and tell you to go get a 24-year old strike named Salomon Rondon. I'll also always recommend Leandro Paredes.

          You're welcome.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Tried a Portsmouth rtg and made it pretty far, now posting from my 2nd season in January. Can't really the major signings but will tell you from where I'm at near the end.
1st season- dominated league 2, with the help of major free agents. Won by over 15 points.
2nd season- did very well, and won league 1 by a single point over Mk dons. Also used the scout future star, as my budget was lower than my last season.
3rd season- horrible. The board gave me 400k transfer and 2k wages and told me to fight for promotion. My top striker (youngster from Lazio) wanted out and was later sold to man city for less than his value. I couldnt afford any replacement, and had to go into the season with my future star at 61 overall to start at the top of my false nine. Nevertheless, I was fired. The fact that you get a progressively lower budget is the biggest flaw of career mode, along with the gtn. I'll put the final squad below.
            Played a 4-3-3 false nine
Gk- free agent can't remember name - 68
            Rb free agent 63
            Cb ake 73 kovrak (fa)71 Bradley 65
            Lb fa 67
            Cdm radosevic 72
Cm zelalem 68 Lazaro 69 Hollands 64 free agent 67
            Rw Wallace 71
            LW tempseh (fa) 74
            Cf future star 61
Radosevic, zelalem and Wallace were my best players by far.
We're all equal, just some people are more equal than others.
            Arsenal
            Denver Broncos
            Colorado Rockies
            Iowa Hawkeyes

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

At 14/2/1 AD Alcorcon are about to play their last game of 2015, which will be followed by the beginning of the winter transfer period. Pundits do not expect Liga Adelante's leader in the standings to be very active in this window. Their next game will be on the road at CD Mirandes, currently second-to-last, and reports suggest AD Alcorcon may play a lot of their younger players in this one. Are they underestimating their opponent? We will see.

                Press Conference

Q: Congratulations on a very successful month. The result of which has seen you rise into the top 10 in the table. Where do you see yourself finishing this season?

A: When the players are on their game like they have been this month I feel like they can beat just about anyone out there. I'm not going to sit here and go on about winning the league or taking a Champions League spot, but I think this a good team that has a lot left to prove.

Q: You advanced in the Copa Del Rey with a nice two leg victory over Real Murcia. The next round is proving to be a little more difficult with a 3-1 loss to Celta Vigo. Do you think you can win the aggregate and advance on?

A: Of course. We took the important away goal from this match. Being down 2 goals certainly isn't an ideal situation, but I know that we are capable of overcoming it.

Q: Any big transfer window plans? You're team struggled early on but has found form as of late. Are changes necessary or should this form be ridden out considering how well they are playing?

A: I don't expect anything too drastic to happen as far as bringing players in. Right now we are certainly limited on funds but I have targeted a handful of players to go after given the right circumstances. I know some clubs are interested in a few of our players, namely Suso, Juan Dominguez, and Keirrison. We won't be letting them go unless we get a great return on investment. We will see how everything plays out.

                  WIM: C. Jolley (82')

                  Football League 1 Table
                  1. Huddersfield - 35 points
                  2. Charlton Athletic - 35 points
                  3. AFC Wimbledon - 27 points
                  4. Portsmouth - 25 points
                  5. Shrewsbury - 23 points
                  6. Bradford City - 23 points
                  ----------
                  21. Colchester - 12 points
                  22. Oldham Athletic - 12 points
                  23. Carlisle United - 10 points
                  24. Walsall - 10 points

Christian Jolley has finally been given an opportunity as a striker and has proven to be very dangerous if he's in the starting 11. His first opportunity was against Mansfield where he took 7 shots on goal, more than Kedwell and Sheringham have had in a single match. Unfortunately, only 4 of those shots were on target and he was not able to score. 2 weeks later he was given a second opportunity, this time against Rotherham and he was finally able to score. His celebration said it all, he really needed a goal to get his confidence back. He came on as a substitute against Burnley where he became the hero after scoring the winning goal in the last 10 minutes of the match playing as a LM. This could definitely be a turnaround for his season.

Chavez will face Liverpool in December for a pass to the Capital One Cup semifinals. Liverpool are clearly the favorites, however we cannot forget that Wimbledon eliminated Arsenal last season in the very same round, and the very same cup as the one coming up against Liverpool. Despite the huge difference between these two teams, this fixture is one of the most anticipated in this quarter final round.

The match against Burnley has been perhaps the most difficult for Chavez. From the starting whistle it was evident that Burnley had studied Chavez's style of play and knew how to counter it. Burnley pressured Wimbledon's back three when they were in possession as they knew that Wimbledon's plays always begin from the back three. In return, Chavez noticed that Burnley were playing the long ball, and immediately told his back three to use an offside trap. This proved very handy, as Burnley were caught offsides 4 times in the match. The match was very close until the final whistle, but it was Wimbledon who came out on top with Jolley scoring from a rebounded shot. Both managers recognized that they had been tactically matched by the other and shook hands at the end of the match exchanging a few smiling words that we can only speculate on.

                  Next Match: Shrewsbury

                    The Black Cats' Adventure

                    September Update

                    Matches :

Sunderland AFC 3 - 2 Queens Park Rangers
                    C.Gardner - 8'
                    P.Bardsley - 41'
                    Andy Johnson - 68'
                    S.Fletcher - 70'
                    J.Barton - 88'

Q : A great start for you and Sunderland. What do you think ?
Billy : I'm really happy with that win, especially when i know we've deserved it. The boys were really composed and if you look at the match facts, you can see, we kept the ball for 60% of the time. But i think it is quite obvious that we need to work on our defending a little, which today wasn't as strong as i would've liked. Thanks.

                    Southampton 3 - 0 Sunderland AFC
                    S.Davis - 32' ; 43'
                    J.Rodriguez - 78'

Q : What went wrong today ? Johny O'Shea with a really bad mistake, defence problems again?
Billy : Well, again, our defence was not up to scratch and in front of goal we were really unlucky, hitting a post and missing a great chance while it was still 1-0. Stevie Fletcher wasn't playing aswell due to a training injury. Now we keep on thinking about the next game, when he will be back and we'll try to pick ourselves up against Crystal Palace.

                    Crystal Palace 2 - 3 Sunderland AFC
                    S.Fletcher - 22' ; 65'
                    T.Ince - 27'
                    C.Jerome - 31'
                    F.Borini - 40'

Q : Another 3-2 win for your team, Mr.Billy. Steven Fletcher and Fabio Borini coming up BIG for you. Your thoughts?
Billy : Well, in the first 22 minutes we were sublime, not giving away chances and keeping the ball for most of the time, then Fletcher got a chance and tuck it home. But then again, the same story - we have trouble defending our lead and for the next 10 minutes our opponents scored two. But having some great individuals like Adam Johnson, Fletcher and Fabio Borini up front helped us. And then that second half was probably the best 45 minutes by our team so far this season. A perfectly placed cross by Adam Johnson to Steven Fletcher in the 65th minute gave us the lead, and Crystal Palace completely lost their balance.
Q : Today John O'Shea had a really bad game, finishing the game with a 5.9 rating given by EA. Once again he gifted a goal to the opposition. What do you think?
Billy : Well, Johny is now nearly 33 and I've told him that I am building a completely new back four and he knows that he won't be as important as he used to be for this club. We will play a pair of CBs with him and Brooks/Sorensen as they build experience. We also have another great italian in Santiago Vergini, who will have his chances aswell. It is just about time we start Sorensen and Brooks in one game.
Q : Thanks for your time.

                    Transfer Deadline Day

With 3 hours left of TDD, Sunderland made an unexpected bid for Ipswich Town talented defender Aaron Cresswell for around 6 milion pounds. Cresswell signed a 4-year contract at Stadium Of Light with a weekly salary of 15,000 pounds.

"I am really happy to be part of the Premier League. Billy had interest in me for quite a while and I thought this was a great opporunity for me to show what I am capable of. I like how he gives chances to the young players and as it seems, I am part of the wave young defenders in Sunderland."

Sorry about the lack of posts for my PSV career mode I haven't posted in about 3 weeks. I've been really busy.

                      Vitesse 0-1 PSV - Eredivisie

PSV 3-1 FC Basel - Champions League

Toivonen's goal was one of the best goals I have seen. A bicycle that hit the crossbar and bounced in.

                      (Cziommer 70')

In the league at the start of November we sit 11th with 3 win 4 draw and 3 losses with a goal difference of 0.

However, In the Champions League we are sitting 2nd with 1 win 1 draw and 1 loss.

First, a quick history lesson. The club was founded in 1883 by the cycle company Singer. In 1964, new Coventry manager Jimmy Hill started something great, he took Coventry up and in 1967 they were promoted to the First Division. In 1987, the Sky Blues won their first, and only, trophy, the FA Cup Final against Spurs, with Keith Houchen scoring what is regarded as one of the best goals in FA Cup history, a brilliant diving header. In 2001, they were relegated from the Premier League after 34 years, the 4th longest spell at the time. In 2005 they left their stadium, Highfield Road, after 106 years, to move to the 32,609 capacity stadium, The Ricoh Arena. The club were relegated in 2012 to League 1 and after going into administration left the Ricoh. They now ground share with Northampton Town.

                        Match 1

                        Coventry 1-0 Crawley
                        Baker 90
After a difficult first half, struggling to get a decent shot away we got better. Late on, looking resigned to a draw, Fleck scuffed his shot and as it looked to go wide, Baker used his last ounces of energy to get onto the ball and convert from a tight angle.

                        League Cup Round 1

                        Accrington 1-2 Coventry
                        Mingoia 73
                        Ecclestone 75
                        Delfouneso 84

After dominating the match having lots of shots saved, Mingoia broke through to give Accrington the lead with their only shot of the game. Just after kick off, Delfouneso and Ecclestone linked up to score, before Delfounso used his pace and strength to run clear and smash into the top corner.

                        Match 2

                        Sheffield United 0-2 Coventry
                        Moussa 17
                        Delfouneso 90

We dominated the match and Moussa scored a great goal, hard and low from the edge of the box. Delfouneso finally broke the keepers tough resistance to keep the ball out, once again running clear.

                        Match 3

                        Coventry 2-1 Crewe
                        Martial 27
                        Bigirimana 64
                        Moore 90

Martial gave us the lead with a wonderful side scissor kick into the corner. Another loanee, Bigirimana smashed in from the edge of the box. Moore got one back when he got to the ball before Murphy and fired in.

                        Match 4

                        Swindon 0-1 Coventry
                        Delfouneso 8
In a midfield dominated game, Delfouneso got the only goal, placing into the corner. Swindon had multiple golden opportunities to equalise, including a penalty the Mason fired against the bar.

                        J. Paint Trophy Round 1

                        Rotherham 1-0 Coventry
                        Thomas 83
We played well in this game, but so did the opposition goalkeeper. Our centre back, Webster lunged in and was fortunately only given a yellow card, but a just a few minutes later he lunged in in the penalty area. He received his second yellow and gave away a penalty. The penalty was terrible though and Murphy easily saved it. Thomas won the game with a header after a deflected shot found his head.

                        Match 5

                        Coventry 5-0 Oldham
                        Delfouneso 8
                        Thomas 17
                        Wilson 25
                        Fleck 61
                        Seaborne 84

We absolutely dominated a weak Oldham side. Delfouneso ran clear and hit the ball hard and low into the bottom corner. Thomas made it 2 with a scuffed shot from the edge of the box which hit the post and went in. Wilson headed home a third before Fleck scored an excellent free kick. Seaborne completed the rout with a header from a corner.

                        Thoughts

I feel I made some good loan signings for the team to have depth. We have won all league games so far this season but we disappointingly went out of the JP Trophy at the first hurdle. But that does mean we will have less fixture congestion.

Its been a long time coming but the Coventry Career Mode has finally started. After the first month of results I have decided to play on Legendary in both this Career and my Liverpool Career

                          ROAD TO RECOVERY
                          SEASON 1

                          League Cup Round 2

                          Coventry 2-1 AFC Wimbledon
                          Pell 16
                          McGeouch 88
                          Martial 90

Jamiec47s Coventry would face Chavez's Wimbledon side. Chavez had them set up brilliantly and they took an early lead through Pell driving into the corner. Wimbledon were all over us, but after the break the tables were turned. Wimbledon defended valiantly and the keeper was outstanding but McGeouch finally equalised late on, getting onto a rebound. The match was won right at the death as Martial ran through the defence and smashed in.

                          Match 6

                          Preston 2-2 Coventry
                          P. Gallagher 18
                          K. Davies 30
                          Moussa 44
                          Seaborne 53

Preston dominated us, we couldn't keep the ball. Gallagher opened the scoring capitalising on a defensive mistake. Kevin Davies made it 2 with a diving header. Moussa got 1 back, tackling the defender and slotting in just before half time. Seaborne got the equaliser with an excellent header from a corner.

                          Match 7

                          Coventry 1-0 Colchester
                          Delfouneso 60
We dominated this match and finally broke through the goalkeeper when Delfounso expertly chipped the ball over the onrushing keeper.

                          Match 8

                          Carlisle 0-2 Coventry
                          Delfouneso 40
                          Moussa 61

Delfouneso ran clear of the defence and smashed in to open the scoring. After some brilliant play, Moussa and Wilson combined for Moussa to curl into the bottom corner.

                          League Cup Round 3

                          Coventry 0-1 Leeds
                          McCormack 40
We played brilliantly against the Championship side but it wasn't enough. Leeds came through with an undeserved win, coming from a dubious free kick. Paddy Kenny's goalkeeping ability was too much and we couldn't get past him.

                          Match 9

                          Coventry 1-1 Bristol City
                          Moussa 19
                          Emmanuel-Thomas 23

Moussa curled in the first from distance but after kick off we couldn't get the ball. After some great passing Emmanuel-Thomas got on the ball and smashed in.

                          Thoughts

We were unlucky to get knocked out of the cup but we maintain our league unbeaten record, something I am very proud of with this side. Legendary is hard!

AD Alcorcon '15-'16 Season mid-point review

Back on page 184 I posted what the team looked like at the beginning of the season after a busy summer transfer window. We were not very active in this window mostly due to a lack of funds. Still, after playing every Liga Adelante opponent once we sit in first place with dreams of moving up to Liga BBVA either directly or through a playoff. Here are the Top 10 in the standings:

                                P/W/D/L; GF/GA/GD/PTS

                                1. AD Alcorcon: 21/16/3/2; 39/13/+26/51
                                2. CA Osasuna: 21/15/2/4; 49/14/+35/47
                                3. Levante UD: 21/12/9/0; 39/17/+22/45
                                4. RCD Espanyol: 21/12/8/1; 40/16/+24/44
                                5. UD Almeria: 21/13/4/4; 36/17/+19/43
                                6. RM Castilla: 21/12/5/4; 38/18/+20/41
                                7. Granada CF: 21/11/5/5; 38/17/+21/38
                                8. Real Murcia CF: 21/10/5/6; 30/24/+6/35
                                9. FC Barcelona B: 21/9/4/8; 26/24/+2/31
                                10. SD Ponferradina: 21/7/6/8; 24/26/-2/27

As you can see, it's been difficult to enjoy this season too much because there are good teams right on my heels having very good seasons as well.

                                My current roster:

                                Sergio Alvarez, 57 OVR
                                Jose Manuel, CM, 55 OVR
                                Vicente Lavado, CAM, 51 OVR
                                Luciano Couto, CAM, 51 OVR

                                Reserves:
                                Nagore, RB, 66 OVR
                                Angel, LB, 66 OVR
                                Carlos Alberto, GK, 54 OVR
                                Ruben Sanz, CM, 53 OVR
                                Raul Parrela, KG, 51 OVR
                                Alexander Wlazlowski, CAM, 48 OVR

                                Transfers OUT:
Javito, CAM, 64 OVR: Sold for $325K. I realized Lopez needed to move to CAM because he's too slow to play on the wings so that made Javito expendable knowing I have younger talent I want to develop.
Miguel, CAM, 61 OVR: Loaned to Charlton for the rest of the season.
Vidal, CM, 59 OVR: Loaned to Brondy IF for the rest of the season
                                * Even though Miguel and Vidal are arguably my top 2 youngsters, I felt it was the right move to allow them to continue to develop elsewhere to allow me to rotate the remaining youth on my roster, since I have a lot of it.

                                Transfers IN: NONE.

Standout players: My strikers are having tremendous seasons, with Gaona Lugo currently third in scoring with 9 goals (3 tied for first with 11), while Beleck isn't far behind with 8 and a league-leading 8 assists. D'Angelo is second in clean sheets with 9 and I fear I may need to move him after this season as he's in high demand and obviously I'm going to need to figure out how to obtain funds. Prendes and Lopez both have 5 goals, while Serran - who has earned captain duties - has 4 of his own, all through the air game.

My question for you: Do you think I can keep up this pace and move up to La Liga next season? (I play on default WC)
